  • Pedro on VOLVER: "The movie that moves more to the audience. Comparing to the other 15. It talks about a relationship that everybody knows. Which is the relationship with your mother. This is a very local movie. Everything that happens there are typical of a little place in LaMancha."

The man asking questions is so rude. He probably never watched it. I sense a slight bit of racism.
Pedro Almodovar is a genius. He is a man that understands who women really are. He’s a gem. Thank you, Pedro for highlighting the strength of women and doing so in such a powerful way!

mysticgirl...i went through a few videos of Penelope Cruz and your name is always there with the same boring comment (copy & paste..what an invent, huh?)
It's so sad to waste your time on watching cuts about people you hate...in the meantime miss cruz is winning more and more awards

Sometimes the interview asks questions in a way that makes it seem like Pedro and Penelope can't understand English, quite offensive actually.

I agree!! Charlie Rose had a wealth of great interviews but he was typically rude and condescending, especially with female guests. “Volver” is a masterpiece but that was an odd clip to choose, giving away a twist and misrepresenting the overall movie. Such a shame, as the show was a great platform for artists like Pedro Almodovar and Penelope Cruz, but were were clearly as uncomfortable with Charlie Rose as I would be!!

she is not an actor. they write stories around people like this that are non-reality based stories.
in reality based stories, you have to embody specific people with regional accents, do long scenes and deliver good takes.
the most this woman is capable of is the typecast "girl".

She’s working with a different regional Spanish accent in this film, as the people the film are about are from La Mancha, and they have a particular dialect.
It’s like an Northern Irish person playing a Londoner. She is doing what you say she’s not doing.
Just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean she has no merits.
