Russian refugee in Mongolia

  • Mongols are very nice and welcoming people, but when it's needed they look very tough! It's very interesting combination! No wonder they had the half of the known World in their power once in the history! I like my stay in Mongolia, I didn't expect it would be colder than Russia though haha! (at least any European city in Russia)

I like your little fan club, those children love you. I am sure they want to learn English from you, they are like that in Mongolia. Just remember, you represent your country to those youngsters. Just be a good example to them so they can see that Russia is full of good people. I am from Texas but in the 90s when thr Soviet Union fell we had several teenage girls from Russia come to our school as exchange students just to see what America was like in Texas. They were good people and all of them were religious girls. They were shocked how welcoming we were in Texas and told us that they were told many things about America and none of it was true. I still keep up with them through Facebook and all 3 of them live in the Baltic States except 1, in St Petersburg. She had to send her husband to Poland because she doesn't want him to fight in the war. So sad, God be with you.

Welcome to Mongolia, Sergey! As I am a Mongolian living in Canada, I would advise you not to hang around with people drinking vodka, and be careful in certain neighborhoods. Like every country, we have both bad and good people. It's better to find someone local Mongolian who speaks Russian and get some tips and advice about in what neighborhoods you have to be careful and where is safe to shop for grocery etc. I wonder those local Red Cross staff members ever help you get connected with someone who speaks Russian. Please ask the Red Cross staff members to help you get connected with a local Mongolian, who speaks Russian.

The rule for not selling alchohols in the first days of the months is to encourage people to pay their bills and spend money on important stuff as most get their salaries on the first day of month.
Also, getting driving license in Mongolia is quite easy and the proper international licenses are agreed throughout the world(EU, US)
    Some translations:
Kids were saying they just started learning russian this year in school and asked if you wanted to play volleyball with them.
And the reception woman was encouraging you to say Thank you more just as a friendly banter.
And those drinking men were in awe about how you were drinking the vodka. Saying "That is how it's supposed to go down"
It was great to see your insight. Hope you have a great time in my country!

yea i feel u too. mongolians usually don't like harming dogs (or animals in general) and try to feed or watch out for strays if they can but it's a vast land and government doesn't have an acceptable policy regarding this matter. personally i much prefer if they roam free instead of becoming guard dogs, and for the government to use catch-spay-release strategy.

A Russian came as a refugee to Ecuador, Latinamerica. Was welcomed and granted refugee status. One day, he got mad and started to insult and threat local people in a bus, he insulted the country and the people who received him and his family. Luckily, although body language was quite clear, nobody spoke Russian in the bus, except me, who knew him cause he was my neighbour and we were at the same bus, except he didn't notice. Before that episode, I thought that people is people, they shouldn't carry the weight and shame of being Russian. But then, reality changed my mind.

About robberies, my father visited Russia in the 90's and was robbed by a guy in the streets.. but a cop saw it and catched him and gave him a few kicks when he was on the ground. He asked my father to kick him too and he was like ok i'll just fake a few kicks to make him happy.
That's how it worked back in the days apparently, not sure how it is today. But if that would happen here in Sweden it would make national headlines in the news.
