sealant around the box is a must, plus putting solar panels on the roof would not need holes in the roof. A few of the flexi ones that you stick to the roof, would be enough to keep the batteries charged
I would add red tape or paint on the inside of the trailer floor at the edge of the doorway, and green tape/paint at the edge where the step actually is, so there's something visual to remind you where to step.
I am surprised that you haven't put a awning/canopy on the side of the trailer. Ideal for working in shade at the track.
I currently live in my van, and having a good solar setup is absolutely essential. Even a much simpler setup on your trailer would be amazing. You could charge camera batteries, phones, laptops, hook up a mini fridge, etc etc.
Aa many others have already said i would have put some flex seal or something to waterprof around that box. But excellent work as always =)
I like that Josue "volunteered" to crawl under the trailer to drill the pilot holes. What a team player!
I'm a bit worried someone is going to miss that step coming out of the trailer and go for a decent tumble or drop whatever they are carrying. I'd look into trying to fab something up to center it.
I'm going to be honest seeing your comment on not wanting to drill into the roof for a solar panel. I was not expecting you to cut into the floor to put a winch in. Keep them guessing lol
A stainless steel shower handle on the step-side of the door, would also not be a bad idea for pulling yourself up.
A suggestion. I would mark your bolts after you check and tighten them. Will make subsequent checks much easier as you will be able to see what has loosened, obviously not ignoring critical components.
You should add a tow hook to name it even easier. Also the offset step is dangerous. Some that's not used to it or not paying attention is going to fall.
Always in for the trailer/shop upgrades! You might be able to add a another puck style tie down for a snatch block in front of the winch in case you need to bring in something longer than the vette.
Probably not necessary but, I think a roller on the part that folds in and out will save your rope from damage/fray in the long run.
Get a couple of pullies you can latch on your tracks for the winch, if pull lenght is a problem.
see a gap in the driver side fender well. Guess weatherproofing isnt that big of a deal? Id caulk under that winch flange atleast!
To help with the nut and bolt check, I would use a paint marker and mark the nuts and bolts. Then a quick visual check will tell you if they have loosened up at all.
I think you should add a second step to the other side towards the front of the trailer.
You might want to look at installing rampovers, similar to what dirt late models use, and it will make pulling the 'vette in and also make tying it down so much easier. You could have also looked into mounting the winch under the cabinet on the SIDE of the trailer and use a snatch block to change direction of the cable. It would utilize the dead space under that cabinet since its elevated off the floor.
A timesaver and bladesaver for sawzall's - grab a simple spray bottle, fill with water and a dab or two of dawn dish soap. Spray that on the blade as you cut, a little goes a long way.... it'll cut metal like butter. Learned that one when going through vehicle extrication training.
Right at the end, I was expecting Jose to fall off that step.
