    MESSAGE SUMMARY
    In every war, strategy plays a role. Each side plans and makes movements in accordance to what it learns about the other side's tactics. If information is leaked, a counteroffensive can be launched. This can be seen in the grand and most profound war of the universe: The Invisible War. In this battle, Satan and his minions wage war against God, His angels, and His people. We'll consider it by looking again at one of the most enigmatic texts in the New Testament. Let's unravel it.

    Excellent sermon!
    Skip has one of the best understandings of the invisible world of any Pastor I have heard. However they all fail to address the human origins of earth life. They talk about the Sons of God and fallen angels but do not account for the fallen state of human souls as if we are nothing but mere spectators. What was our original state and what heinous crime or offence to God did we commit so long ago that required us to be redeemed? If 1/3 of Heaven was subject to the fall then that must have included us. We must have pre-existed in spiritual form prior to being born or re-born in physical bodies. I believe that all humans played a lesser role in the Heavenly revolt. We quietly went along condoning Satans rebellion against Christ. God's Plan of Redemption appears just in that Christ earned His right to take the battle to Satan and impose new rules and restrictions on Satan in light of having demonstrated His ability to remain faithful to God in the face of every torture and taunt that Satan had in his arsenal. Humans rejected Christ's rule eons ago and their redemption must now earned by rejecting Satan and accepting Christ's rule once more.

    Where was Jesus after the crucifixion and before the resurrection? If He was made sin for us, He would have been in Hell, like any other sinner, right? That's when He preached to the spirits. That's how I have always read that, anyways.
    The crucifixion was another of Satan's attempts to get rid of the messiah. Jesus was not triumphant until he was resurrected.

      The question you asked has been specifically asked and answered in an excellent short article:
      www.gotquestions.org/where-was-Jesus.html
      Question: "Where was Jesus for the three days between His death and resurrection?"
      Answer: A key passage in the discussion on where Jesus was for the three days in between His death and resurrection is 1 Peter 3:18-19, which says, “Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit, in which he went and proclaimed to the spirits in prison” (ESV). The word spirit refers to Christ’s spirit. The contrast is between His flesh and spirit, and not between Christ’s flesh and the Holy Spirit. Christ’s flesh died, but His spirit remained alive. Jesus’ body was in the tomb, of course, but His spirit, having departed at His death (Matthew 27:50), was elsewhere for those three days.
      Peter gives a little bit of specific information about what happened in those three days between Jesus’ death and resurrection. The KJV says that Jesus “preached” to the spirits in prison (1 Peter 3:19). The Greek word used simply means that Jesus “heralded a message”; the NIV translates it as “made proclamation.” Jesus suffered and died on the cross, His body being put to death. But His spirit was still alive, and He yielded it to the Father (Luke 23:46). According to Peter, sometime between Jesus’ death and His resurrection Jesus made a special proclamation to some imprisoned spirits.
      Where were these imprisoned spirits to whom Jesus spoke between His death and resurrection? Nowhere in the Bible are we told that Jesus visited hell. The idea that Jesus went to hell in order to continue His suffering is unbiblical; His suffering ended when He said, “It is finished” upon the cross (John 19:30). The New American Standard Bible says that Jesus went to “Hades” (Acts 2:31), but Hades is not hell. Hades is a term that refers, broadly, to the realm of the dead, a temporary place where the dead await resurrection. Revelation 20:11-15 in the NASB and the NIV makes a clear distinction between Hades and the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the permanent, final place of judgment for the lost. Hades is a temporary place for both the lost and the Old Testament saints.
      Our Lord Jesus yielded His spirit to the Father, died physically, and entered paradise, as He had promised the thief on the cross (Luke 23:43). At some time between His death and resurrection, Jesus also visited a place where He delivered a message to spirit beings-probably fallen angels (see Jude 1:6); these spirits were probably imprisoned because they were somehow involved in a grievous sin before the flood in Noah’s time (1 Peter 3:20). Peter does not tell us what Jesus proclaimed to the imprisoned spirits, but it could not have been a message of redemption, since angels cannot be saved (Hebrews 2:16). What Jesus proclaimed was probably a declaration of His victory over Satan and his hosts (1 Peter 3:22; Colossians 2:15).
      Ephesians 4:8-10 may give another clue regarding Jesus’ activities in the three days between His death and resurrection. Quoting Psalm 68:18, Paul says about Christ, “When he ascended on high, he took many captives” (Ephesians 4:8). The ESV puts it that Christ “led a host of captives.” This could refer to an event not elsewhere described in Scripture, namely, that Jesus gathered all the redeemed who were in paradise and took them to their permanent dwelling in heaven. That is, after securing their salvation on the cross, Jesus brought Abraham, David, Joshua, Daniel, the beggar Lazarus, the thief on the cross, and everyone else who had previously been justified by faith, and led them from Hades to their new spiritual home.
      All of this is to say that the Bible isn’t entirely clear what exactly Christ did for the three days between His death and resurrection. From what we can tell, though, He did two things: He comforted the departed saints and brought them to their eternal home, and He proclaimed His victory over the fallen angels who are kept in prison. What we can know for sure is that Jesus was not giving anyone a second chance for salvation; we face judgment after death (Hebrews 9:27), not a second chance. Also, Jesus was not suffering in hell; His work of redemption was finished on the cross.

      Hello brother : ) I'd be happy to share my knowledge on this. Water baptism, although regarded by some sects of Christiandom to be required for salvation, doesn't save, it is a work just like everything else we do.
      The purpose is to publicly express our faith in our wonderful Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. The baptism of the Holy Spirit, which comes at the moment of someone's faith is absolutely required for salvation (which is not a work, but a gift from God)
      Pardon there being no verses, I'm away from my Bible ☺️

      @swtor20 Před 5 lety +1

      @@shamariopatterson1354 Oh, physical baptism is indeed very important! However baptism is a "type" if I could say that.
      Just like circumcision, we have a fleshly circumcision, and a spiritual one.
      1.) Fleshly in that it signified or made it offiicial that one was part of God's old Covenant. (Ge 17:10-14).
      2.) Spiritual in that we must carry out a circumcised heart, and one in the spirit. That our hearts are cut off only to The Lord God and our Saviour Jesus Christ. (Spoken about in Ro 2:25-29) Paul tells us that its the spiritual which is the substance of the fleshly type that is more important.
      Baptism is something like this, the physical is very important. However, even Paul in 1 Corinthians 1:17 does not put a great importance on physical baptism, but we know elsewhere that the spiritual baptism of the Holy Spirit is what is required!
      Some scripture for reference: Luke 3:16, Acts 1:5 (then Acts 2:1-4), 1 Corinthians 12:13.
      This is the "substance" of physical baptism!

    Genesis 6:1-5 if your pastor teaches this is about angels RUN! So many are deceived. You have to TEST EVERY SPIRIT! This ties into 1 Peter 3:18-20. If your pastor teaches Jesus went to hell RUN! This is about the Spirit of God that preached through Noah.
    Genesis 6 “sons of God” are men from the line of Seth! Hebrews 1:5 to the end of this chapter makes it clear no angel was ever called a “son”.
    Why is this important? Because Jesus told us the end times will be as in the days of Noah!
    ...addressing the vileness of unrepentant sin in the so called church, WHERE IS THE CONVICTION IN THE HEART! Thieves in the temple! God will not be mocked and His wrath will spare no one except those whom Jesus says “I KNOW YOU”.
    Three requierents from Acts 2:
    1. Believe that Jesus Christ is the risen Son of God (LORD) who died as an atonement for our sins, died and rose again;
    2. REPENT! For the remission of sins; Psalm 51;
    3. BORN AGAIN baptism by the Holy Spirit (John 3 Jesus said one MUST BE BORN AGAIN to both SEE and ENTER the kingdom of heaven).

    Great preaching! When I used to go to Church, I have never been able not to doze off. Not this time.
    Though at this point I must confess I'm an atheist myself, I like to delve into the text (any text actually) in order to find its meaning, and contradictions.
    First of all, I agree with you that Satan's crime was to overstep his boundaries. He may not have wanted to usurp God's Throne, but he certainly wasn't content with His Rule and the limitations He placed on him. This is the old Greek crime of *hubris*, and quite literally the original sin (before the dualistic religions invented sin in the modern sense). If we follow this line of thought, I also agree with you that God and His actions can not be wrong, because He is limitless by definition. And also because He sets the rules of the game.
    This is still a perfectly biblically correct interpretation, since Adam and Eve's original sin was also to disobey God. But before I continue with my take on the invisible war, I'd like to go back to that incident. In the Garden of Eden, God had lied to A&E by telling them they would die eating the fruit. The snake, however, only told them the truth. I can find many examples in the Bible that God would lie, and Satan tell the truth. And he still plays the bad role, because he is the bad guy by definition (as was my previous point). And here, I must disagree strongly with you. I think you're impugning motives into Satan (what we french-speakers call a procès d'intention) when you say that Satan wants us to fall. I think he wants us to see into God's lies, and autocratic behaviour, and decide by ourselves what we want to do, just like he did.
    To conclude, I would now like to talk about the war. If Satan's actions (following your interpretation that he is responsible of Cain's crime etc...) are indeed reprehensible in this context (morally speaking), so are God's (the drowning of the Egyptian army (why not close the see before they are in it), the Flood (even if humanity is wicked, and irredeemable, nobody can condone the drowning of, say, still innocent children).
    So my conclusion is the following : in this war, God is right because he is the more powerful of the two, not because his motives are hollier. It has cost many a man's life to disobey the rule of a megalomaniac dictator, and it is a man's (and a woman's) moral duty to decide, by their own moral standards, what they want to do, and if their boundaries are indeed suitable.
    Thank you for reading.

      Man, I'm sad for you, brains without application is not profitable. May God have mercy on you, and may you repent before you die. God is the Truth, He cannot lie. A&E did die because of their sin, otherwise they would still be around. There is no such thing as a middle ground in the spiritual war, since you're not under God's rule, you're by definition against Him , serving Satan and doing exactly what he wants . Here on earth : " The one who do as he pleases is evermore less pleased with what he does" but " the one who does what pleases God, find evermore pleasure in whatever he does". That's the dillema and the fundamental truth of human living that Satan don't want men to get it, true joy lies in service and surrender to God, we were not designed to thrive being self-centered self pleasing beings. Beyond that is the the aftermath, you will die, your eternity is at stake, again, I hope you repent and seriously go after God for forgiveness, He loves you, and if you are reading you still have a chance . As Jesus said, Repent, the kingdom of God is near.

      Its the baptism of the Holy Spirit meaning, when you 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. When we recieve Jesus as our personal lord and saviour the bible teaches He and the Father will come and make their home in us. Admission of being a sinner and confession of Jesus Christ with our mouths and believe in our hearts is baptism of the Holy Spirit. The bible also says lest ye be born again we will not enter the kingdom of heaven, Jesus said i am the way the truth and the life no one comes to the Father but by JESUS.

Verse 20 tells you those in prison were disobedient fallen angels who abandoned there wife and sons to drown in the flood .and dematerialized and returned to the spirit realm .Jesus didn't ascend to the spirit realm for a month or so after his being made alive in the spirit. He did not preach to them while he was in the tomb. Its all spelled out for you in verse 20. You get that right? or not?
