    People of Caribbean descent usually have British, Irish and/or Scottish background as well .. being part of the Commonwealth, sugar cane plantation etc. The Arawak and Carib Indians were spread through the Caribbean, South America, Hispanola, etc but very few(about 10,000) survived due genocide by Christopher Columbus and other Europeans explorers; mostly men were killed and women were enslaved.

      The arawaks were removed from Jamaica by the Spanish to other islands like Hispaniola Cuba etc before the African slaves arrived….. extensive research in Jamaica have found no evidence of them being there bonewise only a few artefacts, but they were there ….. and that’s why it doesn’t show up in a Jamaicans dna as the slaves came to what seemed like an uninhabited island apart from the few European slavers there.. apart from west African dna most Jamaicans will have Irish English and Scottish dna…

    I had two separate DNA studies done to try and identify my heritage on my mom's side. She was adopted by a Polish - Jewish couple. Went by the name of Connie, even though her real name at birth was Garcia. As it turned out both DNA studies revealed an African (5.1%) and Hispanic (15%) background. The rest was all mostly northern and southern European with a large portion of English, Irish, and Scandinavian.

She also has some DNA matches I don't have and vis-a-versa (she is my full sister). The surprise was that my neice didn't have a drop of Italian in her. Hi guys! Just wanted to add that you should test Dainy’s DNA, as well, because his results will NOT be the same as Jasmine. But, one DNA expert says full siblings can definitely claim an ethnicity of a full sibling’s results because of sharing the same relatives. Early in my journey I tested other family, including my sister but not myself because I thought our results would be the same. We share many of the same ethnicities but not the same percentages. Example, I’m 30% Nigerian and shes 25% , I show 1% Finland, she doesn’t. She shows 1% Scotland, 1% Italy and 1% Indigenous Americas and I don’t. But I claim them because the ethnicities are from a shared ancestor. Oh, and 1% of your DNA is around 7 generations back from a 5th great grandparent. 😊

    • @PerfectlyBlended
      @PerfectlyBlended  Před 3 lety

      Interesting... We were thinking just that, sister and brother would most likely share the same, perhaps slightly different percentages, but we didn't think of the possibility that completely different ethnicities might show up in one and not the other...
      We'll probably end up checking everyone's ancestry.
      Thank you Debbie! ❤️

    The ethnicity estimates were originally intended to tell where your ancestors lived 500 to 1000 years ago, before intercontinental travel. Since there are no living people that old, each of the DNA companies create reference populations from living users who claim that all four grandparents were born in a specific location. Each of the DNA companies update their reference populations from time to time, so your estimates may change. Country borders are political, not ethnic, and many modern country names did not exist 500 to 1000 years ago. Each of the DNA companies use different geographic groupings, as well.
    It was so cool that you looked at your DNA matches. Your father's cousin would be your first cousin once removed (1C1R), meaning they're one more generation down the tree in a family tree. Second cousins (2C) have the same great grandparents.
    You can download your raw DNA from AncestryDNA and upload it for free to GEDmatch, MyHeritage, and FTDNA as well. Each of the DNA companies have different tools, such as chromosome browsers, auto-clustering, etc.
    I enjoyed your video. Good presentation. I also loved the wee lass's Scottish accent.

      It doesn’t always work that way with dna one child could inherit more dna from a parent than the other…. Eg my mother has German ancestry as a Jamaican but I didn’t inherit that … also her Mali is high at about 8% but I only have 1%…. I have Welsh my mother doesn’t so I assume it’s from my dad… my son has Irish …. I don’t my mother does…. My daughter has more dna from her father than from me 👀🤣

    Europe is sprinkled in there because of the international in this case Atlantic Slave Trade from Africa. Black people were considered chattel property at that time, and that included Black women for the slave owner to exert his will by force when need be.

    Jamaican DNA? Jamaicans have the DNA of African, European and little bit of Taino wich came from South America and and The redware people. There's not such thing as Jamaica DNA. Jamaica is a nation.

    Yeah Jamaicans are very close to Jewish because of the African jews Jamaica percentage of slavery are in digits African from eastern and western Africa so there is no doubt about that Africa would be a big play but Trinidad as my friend myself you're going to have a lot of Scotts and you're going to have a lot of new Asian and you're going to have a lot of German and you gonna have a lot of eastern European When it comes to Trinidad
