I share my thoughts about the new Sony Alpha A1 camera. This new camera features a 50MP sensor, 8k30p Video, and 30fps Shooting. The Camera: bhpho.to/3piff7U
Danny, a bit off topic, but how do you find the ISO performance on the a7R4? To cut a long story short, I’m ideally wanting a camera with the real time tracking and two card slots that I can use my sigma 56mm lens on - it’ll be a bonus that I can also use my full frame lenses too. I’m happy with ISO 6400 (maybe 8000) on the a7iii, what ISO do you think would be a similar noise level to that on the R4? Thanks!
I can definitely see Sony updating the a9 line to match some of the readout and AF speed specs of the a1, down the road. Lower 20-24mp sensors will still continue to be an advantage for high volume shooters. The specs of the a1 are just insane at a reasonable price too, especially compared to what a Canon 1DXiii or Nikon D6 offer at the moment. If they keep the a9iii at the $4,500 price point with some of the a1 performance specs, that will be such a great option too.
Pre Ordered... Hey buddy hope all is well. The Sony Rep said in 8k it's a 30mins limit but he's shot over an hour in 8k without overheating. Also the unlimited is talking about the 30min times limit some of the cameras might still have.
@@stevefitzgerald9193 maybe you should learn how to read. No one said it did or did'nt overheat. Sony website says there's a limit of 30 in 8k and after that yes theres a possibility it can over heat. I said a Sony Rep said he recorded for an hour without any overheating. That doesn't mean it won't overheat or will overheat it means that was the experience of the user. The Unlimited time that That1cameraguy seen on the website was referring to the 30min time limit from previous cameras that would automatically cut off after 30 mins. You mind your own business you rabbit ok lol. Have a good day
I like how you said it’s a camera your look at and admire. Maybe if they do that holiday price drop at the end of the year I’d consider it. I bet the a9iii will come around in a one a half because the price point is lower than the a1. they can give a minor bump in video specs, add the cf-express cards and give a better Evf and it will be perfect for the photo centric people that don’t need 4K 120 or 8k the video specs.
Well said Brown. Hope you’re well man. It bodes well for the future. I see the a7 IV being a dumbed down version of this at 30-32mp, 4k60, new slots, flippy screen, basically an a7s III body. For now my original a9 and a7R IV handle workflow. I think it’s cute how all the R5 owners think the A1 is a competitor to them.. they forget about the 1DX.. we won’t see a bunch of sports photogs at the olympics shooting with R5’s.. but we’ll see a ton of A1s and 1DX III’s. Peace my man!
The reason a7s3 didn't have 8k video recording is because of simple physics. You need ~33Mpixel sensor to record 8k, but you only need ~8Mpixel sensor to record 4k
@@angelofdeaths9728 a7s3 is very new, so there's going to be a few years before a new version will be released. They might keep the 12Mpixels to keep the low light performance and relegate 8k for a7r5 since it's the high pixel camera. Or maybe a7m4 will get a 35Mpixel sensor and that will also get a 8k video recording. Future will tell
The specs are impressive and it has to be branded and priced this way in order to position the camera to compete directly with the R1. Not sure what will happen to the A9 series, may be they might up the frame rate without giving it the video specs? Likewise, I would like to see some of this performance filtered down to the lower models. Personally, I would like to see a faster frame rate for the coming A7R V. If they can do 50 MP at 30 fps, I am pretty sure they can do 61 MP at 20 fps or perhaps more even. I am not a video guy, so from a specs and price point standpoint, the A7R V is really what I should be looking at, the problem is that might not happen until 2022 and I don't think I can wait another year. So, I might have to consider getting the A1 which is crazy as I had never anticipated considering a 1D X flagship level pro body until now since I am not a pro. Or I stick with Canon and go with the R5S, the high res version of the R5 which should be announced soon. Or may be even just go with the R7 for the time being, shoot in APS-C crop mode for max reach, but with the amazing animal eye AF/tracking capability of the R5 since I shoot birds.
One point I forgot to mention: The 8K is 10bit 4:2:0. I think this was purposely done to make editing much easier, since it's the h.265 codec. Canon chose 10 Bit 4:2:2 for much of their resolutions, including 8K, which makes it really difficult for NLE's. Not a bad choice for Sony.
A9iii will get a better evf, new menus, better WiFi, and slots for xqd cards. Maybe 4K-60 and picture profiles too. The a9/a9ii weakest issue is slow buffer clearing.
I honestly believe the A9 series will continue as an option. The A9 series is at a different price-point, resolution and feature set when compared to the new A1 series. This is why I believe Sony will continue the A9 Series to appeal with those that are not willing to fork over $6,500 on the A1.
Hello !! I'm Pranjul and I wanted to be a wildlife photographer so I wanted a Fast AF camera so I started my research and as result I ended up choosing a6400 but when I got to the Sony store I found another deal that is a99 mark ii(New) and he was ready sell it at same price as a6400 and now I am very confused should I get a99 ii or a6400. Please help me..
The prices do drop. They just don't drop prices on best sellers. The question is, if you were running a business would you drop the price on your best selling products?
The A1 is cool. It is not for me but the future looks interesting. Hopefully some of the new tech gets into the A7IV. Hope Canon and Nikon and all the others bring better products. Competition is good.
I think the α9 will evolve to be the all-rugged, fully weather-protected, large sized mirrorless body akin to the 1DX and D6 (especially if Canon's R1 goes this route). There's room for it now and it's a way to distinguish and keep the α9. Plus there is a large group of pros who either are in the Sony ecosystem and are dying for larger bodies or the pros who really wish to come over but are held back by fear of a perceived lack of reliability and durability, and prefer to hold onto their 1DXIIIs and D6s. And the vast majority of journalists and what not are not interested in 50 megapixels. And obviously, at a lower resolution, they can put out a limitless buffer, and perhaps 30 fps in uncompressed RAW (and 20 fps mechanical shutter). Then there's keeping that mid-upper $4498 price point in their lineup instead of a staggering gap from $3498 (α7RV) to $6498 (α1 series)
I don’t think it’s the A9iii. I bet the A9iii will end up being a lower resolution sensor than 50 and will be built for speed. Probably will have an unlimited buffer for sports and will be very limited in the video department. I just bought an A7Siii and I’m definitely a little bummed that this had to come out right when I copped it but the truth is that it’s really not in the same price range of the A7Siii. I’d have to pay an additional $3000 just to manage getting the A1! So I’m happy with what I’ve got and I’ll eventually work to get the A1 or I’ll see what they do with the eventual A7iv and have that be my more photo centric body.
I think if they are going to continue the A9 range, they might stick to a 24mp sensor for it and just improve on other more minor aspects that improve speed, like a better mechanical shutter as they did with the (disappointing-to-some-who-could-not-afford-it-in-the-first-place) A9II. This just means the A9 loses its flagship status (duh!) and will drop in base price in future launches compared to future improved versions of the A1.
In 5 years I will get it wow I love Sony but 6,500 dollars wow I wish I could afford this sweet maybe in 5 years and the price drops and it shows to be great.
I find it crazy, this type of camera is really not needed. crazy users have specification fantasy's and sony create it I just don't get it even the R5 was overkill. Anyway I guess if you bought this it would be a camera u don't need to update for many many years.
One day canon, Nikon and Sony are going to have to add 10 gigabit ethernet or provide an external solution to get 10g, 30fps even at 30mb per photo which isn't full res is gonna take ~10 seconds per 1s burst to transfer on a 1gbe connection, if the speeds & resolutions keep going up we need it
I don't think they will do a flip out for this series or the A9 series. I think the A9 series will continue, this is just a halo product. Basically saying this is the best of the best. They aren't expecting to sell a lot of these cameras, it's judt here to say "we have the best camera on the market"
Sooo 4.2K RAW should be pixel for pixel ... that would mean one heck of a crop on a 50 mega pixel sensor. Anyone else have any knowledge of how this will work?
If A1's IQ is on par with A7M3 (A9M2's IQ was not) then I will definetely consider it. Not willing to trade IQ for fps or resolution, but given same IQ let-s have it.
