So the battle of calth, which is shown here, was a battle between the Ultramarines and the world eaters and word bearers. With this attack they tried to bound the Ultramarines to the Ultramar sector. By keeping them occupied their, horus and the other traitors could lead their armada to terra. The Ultramarines were the biggest legion of space marines and not even horus could win against them. So the world eaters and word bearers launched raids in the Ultramar sector. The world eaters are the sons of angron and the word bearers the sons of lorgar. Both slaughtering through the sector and killing civilans and their cousins of the XIII legion.
This really was made for fans of the Horus Heresy. I noticed lots of ‘show, don’t tell’ being done in the first episode. Just like the Astartes series, in a way.
Death of hope was good and will always be good. But the story has a very poor flow. It's not easy for those not steeped deep in lore to figure out what's all happened. Honestly worse off is that creator of this, pretty much could not handle any even constructive criticism what's so ever. Got butt hurt and left it unfinished. Sad but unfortunately how it goes sometimes.

The space marine you thought was Horus was a dreadnought.
This takes place on Calth during the Shadow Crusade, in which Horus was never present at.
