    SIADH is increased ADH secretion and it's an anti-diuretic and promotes water reabsorption, so wouldn't the osmolarity decrease in the last diagram followed by decrease in ECF and finally Increase in ICF

    • @ASAPUSMLE
      @ASAPUSMLE  Před 4 lety +7

      You are absolutely right. SIADH would cause relative hyponatremia by increasing water reabsorption and therefore cause a gain of hypotonic. Thank you.

      If it would be hypotonic then would it not be the same as gaining hypotonic fluid? (decreased osmolarity, increased ICF AND ECF)

    • @ASAPUSMLE
      @ASAPUSMLE  Před 2 lety

      @@musabzulfiqar Yes, it would be just like the gain of hypotonic diagram.

    siadh doesnt cause gain of hypertonic fluid, rather it will cause gain of hypotonic fluid but with compensatory aldosterone and natriuretic peptide causing normal ecf but decreased osmolarity and increased icf

    If the osmolarity of the icf increasese fluid shoud move from the extra cellular compartment into the intracellular therby further decreasing the ecf and increasing icf??

  • @emilytorres8693
    @emilytorres8693 Před 2 lety

    So basically the effect of osmolarity is first seen in the ECF and depending on that we’ll have an effect in the ICF?

  • @jaysamueljackson

    SIADH is a hyposmotic volume expansion
    my professor said that osmolarity and tonicity are the same thing though so who am i to judge

    Is "loss of hypotonic" the same as hyposmotic volume contraction?

    • @ASAPUSMLE
      @ASAPUSMLE  Před 4 lety +3

      It is the same as hyperosmotic volume contraction. You are losing hyposmotic fluid.

    • @ASAPUSMLE
      @ASAPUSMLE  Před 4 lety +4

      It's easier to make examples using water because it is (mostly) free of solutes. Juices have sugars and salts and other electrolytes that can affect the movement between the fluid compartments.
