    The Pier Head has changed a lot since I was last there! I was brought up in Bebington on the Wirral side of the Mersey!

    Liverpool looks like a beautiful place. I think people are going to find out that the 40kWh e-NV200 is actually superior to the new Leaf in regards to traveling long distances. Yes, the new Leaf has all the cool new tech but the e-NV has size, range and versatility on its side.
    Great video! Keep them coming!

      Drove the 40 kWh eNV200 From #Skipton to #Edinburgh to #Glasgow to #skiptonia 460 miles in one day. So a great van, has more range, if you drive it hard it uses more electrons, but from Tebay to Abington (91.7) miles i used 70% of the battery on the motorway driving with the wagons. Which gives about 1.31 miles per 1%. I did find out on 1st rapid charge it only gave 80 amps around 365 V so 30 kw MAX! IF i had gone slower to 1st charger i could maybe get 40 kw but this would only be if the battery was cool then on 2nd was 74 etc, down to 56 on fourth! So around 20 kw worst. However the cooling fans run when the van is charging! So like the leaf it measures battery temp and sets the charge speed to that. BUT if you unplug after 20 mins and try again! unlike the leaf the batteries which are not cooler these are :) so it goes back to 71 v and around 26 kw.
      I will not be doing big journeys and multi rapid charges but i now know what to expect if i did.

      Hi James, I've only just seen your comment, I try to reply as soon as I can usually. 460 miles in one day! Woah! now that's a journey and a half! If I had the patience, I know that if we stuck at "wagon" speed, then yes for sure we'd get a lot further. And frankly on a long long journey, it makes more sense to drive slower, get further, and less need for rapid charges. Least the e-NV200 has the battery cooling/heating... unlike the new Leaf. I took photos (no video) of our first EV journey in a 2018 Leaf... the battery was cooked, it really was. We were rapid charging at 15kW! then down to 6kW later on. We were so relieved to get home. Absolute madness.

    • @jameshoyles4261
      @jameshoyles4261 Před 6 lety

      That was a proper distance test of an e-NV200 and shows for them distances the van is better than the L40 (leaf) but i would not be doing them distances very often! It does punish faster drivers even the van with cooling which only seems to work when charging! But a lot better than the L40 the 60 kWh will have cooling and be a great car.

    Thanks James. 370 miles over the weekend. All worked out great. Had a panic yesterday, when we blasted down the motorway to our final rapid charger, just 12 miles from home, arriving on 7%. The rapid didn't want to work. Four times we tried, it just kept failing. When it eventually worked, we were so relieved :o) :o) Liverpool has really been transformed over the years, very busy with tourists. Friendly people. Great day really.

      Do you not have a home charger? or are you waiting for one to be fit? having just got the e-NV200

    • @TeslaModel3Adventures
      @TeslaModel3Adventures  Před 6 lety

      Hi James, yes we have a PodPoint wall charger, 7kW. We had it installed well in advance prior to collecting the e-NV200... unfortunately, the installer fitted a Type 2 connector, and the car has a Type 1, so we had to wait a few weeks to get it swapped over! It wasn't PodPoints fault, on the day of the original install, he wanted to install a Type 1, but I queried it with both Nissan UK Customer Services, and indeed the dealership, and both told me that it was Type 2. One of those things, all good now though. Impressed with how quick in relative terms the 7kW charges the car. Certainly better than using the "Granny Lead" slung out of the window :o) All the best, thanks for viewing, and thanks for subscribing.

    • @jameshoyles4261
      @jameshoyles4261 Před 6 lety

      Yes them 7kW can do the business! I run a leaf 30 kWh as the e-NV200 was only 24 when i was looking so used the car for a make do (Business) nice make do Tekna spec. You must of got your order in early? As they are now 6 months waiting and they just fired £800 + vat only 2 months since prices came out! I will be going for the van version, but waiting now for the end of my pcp. 132 miles the guy that runs it normally has had so far how about you?

    • @TeslaModel3Adventures
      @TeslaModel3Adventures  Před 6 lety

      James Hoyles We ordered in May, expecting a September delivery, but the dealer got us a "dealership" Evalia. Same spec as we'd ordered, so we took it. The dealers got their demonstration models in June, and that's what we've got. So I'm guessing we're one of the first end users to be driving one in the UK.

    • @jameshoyles4261
      @jameshoyles4261 Před 6 lety

      Yes you are! Very lucky as demo's are supposed to now be kept for up to 6 months! Yes i borrowed a demo for my test, they are still waiting for the vans to come in! I saw one guy in Dublin waiting for his van even thou it is in the dealers, I have heard this a few times some sort of paperwork hold up i think! Sold the 1000 vans that was allocated for the whole of the uk for one year in one month! Did not get there numbers correct! Now also shortage of 40 kWh batteries as most car companies are signing up big deals on batteries. So as i said before £1K on all van as of 1st July 2018!!

    Thank you for sharing your experience. But 33kw on a liquid cooled battery is just sad on a 50kw chademo charger.
    Have had 4 leafs up threw the years myself, I bought my first new fully electric car in 2005.
    We have a leaf and a Tesla today, and the Tesla just put every other car to deep shame.
    I get a charge rate of 90kw on my Tesla Model S 75D, the 100D gets about 110KW.
    So nice. The E-NV200 is a great formfactor but Nissan really does the bear minimum.

    Hi, just wondering about your bad luck with the chargers not working. I have the 24kwh e-NV200 here in Iceland and it took me a few failed rapid charges to realise that if I didn't turn the car off before trying to rapid charge it would not start. Your problem might have been something completely different, but just thought I might throw this in there as a possible solution.
    Once I start charging I can turn the car on again to have the heater running and so on.

    • @TeslaModel3Adventures
      @TeslaModel3Adventures  Před 6 lety +7

      Hi there, thanks for watching, and thanks for the advice. It's a little embarrassing, but yes I worked out that at times I was indeed leaving the car "on".. and those were the times when the rapid chargers were failing. I've since made sure that the car is "off", connect the rapid, and everything has worked perfectly fine. You live and learn with these things. Thanks again. All the best to you. Hafa góðan helgi. :o)

    Hi there quick question if I may I remember when you did the cross country trip and you managed just over 120miles and I noticed when someone asked you what range you got you said 150 miles is that more round town or on longer runs as well? Just I’m thinking of getting the van for work... many thanks for your time and keep up the good work

    • @TeslaModel3Adventures

      Around town we can easily get 150 miles out of a charge. Motorway slow speeds.. i.e. 50mph, we got 148miles out of a single charge when we did Hull to Blackpool... not something we'd want to do regularly, somewhat stressful 😁 The faster you go, the less miles you get.

Plenty of similarities to Hull for obvious reasons, docks, huge river, great football team 😕 but yes on the whole we had a good day there 👍Sound system not bad, could do with a couple of tweeters... but what can ya do! Certainly recommend Liverpool as a day trip out to anyone. All the best👍

    • @TeslaModel3Adventures
      @TeslaModel3Adventures  Před 6 lety +1

      Hi there, our initial charge at home cost pretty much a fiver. Going from Hull to Liverpool took just one rapid at Birch Services, at £7.83. Then once in Liverpool at the car park, we ended up with a free vend. The next day when we went to North Wales and back to Hull, we got a free rapid charge at the airport where we were staying. Then another charge at Birch on the return, coincently at £7.83. Then we had the "panic" charge close to home when we down to 7%, and that was a very brief top up, which cost £1.44. So not including the home charge, the total cost away from home was £17.10. Not bad compared to our previous 2.5l diesel van :o) Thanks for viewing. All the best.

    The government need to sort things out as we can't go over to ev with out the info structure in place .not every person has a house with driveway to charge their car or van .

    • @TeslaModel3Adventures
      @TeslaModel3Adventures  Před 5 lety +1

      Unfortunately the governments policy in the last year has headed in the opposite direction with them dropping some of the incentives to buy a new EV. But absolutely agreed that for mass adoption of electric vehicles more needs to be done with the charging infrastructure. There are people in the UK that own an EV, and don't charge at home. We live in Hull, and I think you'd struggle to own an EV without a home charger. But in places like Milton Keynes, I'm sure it would be pretty easy to charge at public chargers. Thanks for watching. All the best.

      Yeah we need as many charge points as petrol and diesel pumps coz the queue for charging up is ridiculous if we have appointments to be on time for, these vehicles need to be efficient and reliable and they are not currently, take notes from Tesla who is aiming for 1,000 drive range in one of its models (manufacturers need to make EVs affordable also) thanks for the informative video, keep up the good work :)

      e-NV200 Adventures yes that’s the main attraction to that car park really. It’s extortionate the pricing there though. I know the guy who runs the charging company there at Liverpool One. Rob Byrne from Franklin Energy. He lives near me. Not bad chargers them. Your always welcome to charge at my house in Crosby if your ever desperate. Or there’s a nice free Ecotricity Rapid at Crosby Park Nissan too. You can get free refreshments in there too. I would gladly make you a brew though if you stop at mine for a charge. 😉

      Hi Terry, thanks for watching. Yes indeed, miles are miles as in the US, we do use the metric system here, and have since the early 70s, but we kept using miles... as we did with pints... easier to ask for a pint of Guinness, rather than 568ml :-) :-) All the best and a happy New Year to you.

    The company I work for has just purchased 30 of these vans all racked out for us to use as mechanical fitters in the London area. Currently have a 2017 transit connect so it will be interesting to see how it works out. I think with a van full of tools we will be lucky to get 100 miles. Rapid gate seems pretty woeful from Nissan

    • @TeslaModel3Adventures
      @TeslaModel3Adventures  Před 5 lety +1

      If you're working local, doing no more than 40 around town, you'll get 130 miles a guess.
      Rapidgate is a joke, not a very funny one when you've spent £30k... I don't know if you've seen our latest video, the trailer for our "Rapidgate Distance Challenge"? This weekend I'm going up against an old very knackered 24kWh e-NV200 doing 440 miles. He'll be able to pull full speeds on rapid chargers, whilst we'll be trickle charging.
      We're doing this to prove a point, before we go legal with Nissan.
