    I especially liked the comparison with the 823. I much prefer cartridge/covert or pen and have the 743 on my wish list.

    I got the Verdigris yesterday with a fine-medium nib. Darker in color than I thought, but so pretty. I love the #15 nib, and am so happy I found the pen at Nibsmith with the full range of nibs that you can’t find with other sellers, most only have the Verdigris in EF, F, M, and B. The FM nib is perfect, so smooth!

    This is a fantastic video Liane! The manner in which you presented all this information was excellent and loved the additional background on the Statue of Liberty. 🗽 I loved this color when it came out and I'm mostly excited there is another offering with a FA Nib! Slightly translucent would have looked really nice in this color as well. Enjoy your new pen!

    Love your channel, Liane. I am starting to now believe that Pilot makes the best fountain pens. Here's my journey: Pilot Varsity > Pilot Kakuno > Pilot Prera > Pilot Vanishing Point > and now the Pilot e95s 😅

    suspect this pen will be part of my collection at some point: love the huge variety of nib options (would go for EF); agree with one of the comments: this verdigris resin is a big improvement on the translucent black that comes with the Pilot custom 823 and thanks for introducing me to Colorverse green goddess:)

    • @lianelikes
      @lianelikes  Před rokem +1

    Thank you for the review! I am so happy the 743 has come to North America. Love the Verdigris colour! I have had the 823 on my wish list but now that the 743 is more easily available I’m leaning towards that. I like to change out inks. I am thinking an FA nib.
    If I was to also get an 823 then I would get a larger nib like a M or B because of large ink capacity.
    What nib size is your 823?

    • @lianelikes

      Mine is a fine nib, though now looking back, I wish it were a medium.

    Great video. I love "Pilot speak." I also write unposted with the cap in my left hand. I infer that you are okay with the con 70. I always make a mess and get a terrible fill. Might you do a demonstration video on filling a pen with the Con 70?

    • @lianelikes
      @lianelikes  Před rokem +1

      You know, this is my first fill and it was a bit messy but I thought it was because the bottle is so small and it's nearly full. I don't mind that it doesn't fill completely as I like to change inks frequently. A demonstration video sounds like a great idea!

  • @McAmeron089III
    @McAmeron089III Před rokem +1

    Thank you for the video! The Pilot #15 nibs are my all-time favorite for writing. I have a and a on the 823 model. The Verdigris 823 is so beautiful and having this pen with cartridge/converter makes a lot of sense to me. I'm trying to justify getting one at some point. The #15 nib is luscious and makes the pen a bargain at current prices.

      @@CortesevasiveYep,too many good reasons to get the Pilot 743! I think I might opt for the . Personally,and I feel like I may be in the minority here,I don't really prefer soft/flexy nibs as I suspect the might be. I love the 14k nib on my E95S!

    • @Cortesevasive
      @Cortesevasive Před rokem +1

      @@McAmeron089III What soft/flex nibs u have ? .
      Yeah, flex is overrated it just leaves puddles of ink. Soft is great though.

    • @McAmeron089III
      @McAmeron089III Před rokem +1

      @@Cortesevasive I have gotten rid of a Pilot Falcon with a soft-fine nib. When writing it felt like I didn't have as much control as I wanted. Maybe I was just using it inappropriately. The softest, semi-flexy nib I have is on a Sailor Ebonite KoP . I must say I do not enjoy writing with it at this time and have contemplated sending it to nibmeister to reduce the broad nib a bit. As my journey has progressed I am leaning more toward finer nibs. Still,my goal is to become a true nib-chameleon and enjoy all sizes of well-tuned/wet nibs! I am open to changing my mind as I gain experience with different nibs, paper,and ink. (If I could have only one ink it would be Pilot Take-sumi not only for how it flows but also it's practical, friendly properties when used on a wide variety of papers.)

    Another very nice job. Unrelated question to this pen; my ink collection is growing, currently stored by brand. Do you do the same, or group by color? I’m thinking my current brand preoccupation is getting in the way of color, sheen, shimmer, shading selection? What say you?

    • @lianelikes
      @lianelikes  Před rokem

      Thank you! Right now, all my inks are in one box, not arranged in any particular order. :) But I think that if/when I organize, I imagine it would be by color.

  • @MaikeOatley
    @MaikeOatley Před rokem +1

    Oh this is such a lovely pen! And what a beautiful ink pairing Liane! I am a huge fan of Pilot pens. So far, they’re the only high-end pens in my collection. If someone could buy only one- the 823 or the verdigris- do you think the main decision maker would be the ink mechanism? I hope that question makes sense lol 🙈

    • @lianelikes
      @lianelikes  Před rokem +1

      The question totally makes sense! I definitely think so. The ability to change out inks and then there's the slight size difference in the barrel finial. A commenter mentioned that they like the finial of the 823 better than the 743.

    • @lianelikes
      @lianelikes  Před 2 měsíci

      You know, I've found that because they are the exact same nib, they feel the same! It just depends on the ink filling mechanism and aesthetics, but writing experience is the same.

    Is this pen disassemblable? I'm interested in using it with J Herbin's Emerald of Chivor but feel.uneasy as to how wholesome this ink would be for the pen.

    • @lianelikes
      @lianelikes  Před rokem

      Hi there, I'm not sure if it is totally disassemblable. I don't plan on inking my 743 with a shimmer ink, I'm sticking to standard inks for now!

  • @ironmic9244
    @ironmic9244 Před rokem +1

    I hold the cap in my left hand many times as well. I believe this Vertigris to be a US exclusive. The big advantage to the 743 is that it comes with all the Pilot nib options. The 823 only comes in all the nib options in Japan and that too in limited quantities. I prefer the 823 though because I like the look of the end cap on the 823 and Con-70 is a pain to deal with. Despite Pilot trying to improve it, I hear it still is difficult.
    I'm curious how would you describe the color, as many can't seem to nail down just how to describe the color.

    • @Cortesevasive
      @Cortesevasive Před rokem +1

      con70 is completely normal converter, especially if you have the old version. Best thing is to refill cartridges though. Vacuum filler is pointless

      Hi Taib, the only difference I'm aware of is that the 74 has a smaller nib size, #5, whereas the 743 has a #15 size nib. I also think the 743 is slightly bigger.
