    If you had read the manual then you'd understand that for safety you should connect the croc clips to the flat battery first, then plug into the jump starter. Once the engine is running, unplug clips from the jump starter then from the vehicle battery.
    This avoids the hazard of live, dangling croc clips which you so beautifully demonstrated...

    Hi there, are you still checking this thread? I have a detailed question about using this device with my Prius 2008. I would love to show you some photos.

    • @d1oftwins
      @d1oftwins Před 3 lety +1

      Not sure if it is too late, but we have a 2008 Prius 2 and the exact same portable jump starter. I lost count how often we used it due to leaving on the ceiling lamp or something else. Just in case if you are wondering how you jump start your Prius:
      1️⃣Turn off all power consuming lamps and what not to lessen the load on the lead battery and jump starter to help the jump starting process.
      2️⃣Open the hood. There is a black cover over the fuse box on the right. Pull it off and you will see a fuse bank and a red cap that covers the positive terminal that connects to the lead battery in the trunk. Pull the red terminal cap aside, it has a hinge on one side and is held closed with a clip on the other side.
      3️⃣Connect the the positive (red) clip of the starter to the positive terminal of the car in the fuse box first, then connect the black clip to a blank, unpainted metal piece under the hood. As in this video shown, there might be still an alternating blinking between the red and green LED of the starter pack. Sometimes the connection might be bad and you might have to fiddle with the clips a bit. But sometimes it is just a deep discharged battery that takes a while to pre-charge and the starter goes green when the lead battery gets over a certain voltage level. With our Prius that was standing 6 weeks unused (and was probably drained due to a lamp) it took like 2 minutes until the starter pack gave its OK with a green LED.
      4️⃣❗❗When you have put in your key fob don't start up your Prius into "ready" state right away. First keep your foot on the brake and wait for the brake pump to kick in, wait until you hear that it stops (takes less than 10 seconds) and just then push the start button of your Prius. This is just an extra step to even out the load on your lead battery and the starter pack. If you push the brakes and the start button at the same time the board computer and the pump will draw more amps together as when you wait until the brake pump is finished. It very well and pretty much always will work if you push the start button right away, but in case it doesn't you can take that extra step. Sometimes this trick might work even without a jump starter.
      5️⃣After a succesfull start into the "ready" mode of the Prius you should pull off the starter pack, it should not be left on the terminals for a prolonged time when the Prius system is running, or even any other type of car is started.
      All in all, jump starting a Prius should be a rather easy and successful process as it doesn't come even close to the peak cranking power of those jump starter devices (400 amps). At its worst it needs about 60 amps for a short time, usually 30 amps. The lead battery of a Prius doesn't provide power to crank the engine, but the high voltage traction battery does. All the lead battery needs to do to start the Prius is just providing enough power to the board computers to check if everything is OK and then connect the HV battery to the system with a contactor. From then on the lead battery is charged and the HV battery is taking over.

    • @SpectorTippy
      @SpectorTippy Před 8 lety

      We have two of these. One is and Anker and the other is an Aukey. You are working on mAh and not amps. Both tell you to connect the RED first. If you don't, the light won't let your car to start. They both work beautifully IF you follow the directions. They don't work like a normal batter charger.

      Abdullah Khaled. The 600a is the CCA=cold cranking amps. The 15000mah battery on this one could charge your phone 4 times. In order to have 10 charges you would need to buy a 36,000mah battery bank charger. And honestly I don't know of a good recommendation for you since more battery banks are chinese and they lie about the size of battery their products have. So they may say it has 20,000mah but in reality it probably has 2 4000mah batteries for a toal of only 8,000mah.

      dunno yolo There are different models of different power You can get stronger ones. Also, I'm pretty sure the alternator does and will fully charge your cars battery. Of course go for a long drive or let idle for a long time. But, it will fully charge your battery. Having something like a battery tender is a good idea. I have one and use it when my car sits for more than a couple weeks without driving.

      @earthling1984  Před 7 lety +4

      dunno yolo But that's not true. Alternator can charge fully. Trickle charge better for the battery But either way, can fully charge from alternator. You were lied to by your auto parts store. They probably say that to sell more products (chargers).

    Do you realize that a car battery is probably cheaper to buy than those jump starter battery packs.

    • @earthling1984
      @earthling1984  Před 7 lety +5

      brickley2000 Depends on car battery. This device can be had for $50 to $80. My last car battery was over $100. Also this is portable and able to bring anywhere and help jump anyone in need. Also it serves more purposes as it has USB charge ports and a light and such. If your car battery is fully dead, of course get yourself a new car battery. This is to jump a battery that was drained on accident by leaving a light on or whatever. This isn't something to use daily on a car with a bad battery.

    stop buying Altima. Those batteries are the best marketed and poorest quality.

      Nathan Deneault Never had an issue with mine. Only had this one Great battery. Lasted over 5 years. But, it did start going bad. That being due to the fact that this Jeep was one of 3 vehicles I own/owned. It doesn't have AC so I rarely, if ever, drove it in summer. It would sit for 2 months and still start! But, I let the battery get too low too many times.

      I had a redtop that the top weld between cap and bottom came unglued/welded.. I traded it in and paid difference for yellow top. I had another 2 yellow tops and out of 3, I had only 1 that worked. I called Optima and they were rude and would not stand behind their product. That is all, I don't believe in that company at all and now even Autozone platinums are essentially the same.. so old tech and catchy marketing and a colored top.. all you get with Optima.

    Anyone reviewing electronics should clearly show the printed statistics on the device. You didn't, and just wasted 8 minutes of my life, then you stated that it was "the Anker jump starter" when there are obviously different sizes. Please try to be more thoughtful and provide actually useful info.

    • @earthling1984
      @earthling1984  Před 7 lety +5

      Blah blah blah. There is a thing called google. Go search it for "Anker Jump Starter" and look up any technical specs yourself.

    • @earthling1984
      @earthling1984  Před 7 lety +5

      Also, I specify it has 10,000mAh and also mentioned it is 400 peak amps, and will start a 3L gas engine. I showed it starting my 4L inline 6 cylinder Jeep (which was higher than their specs, but, it worked). So what specs/stats did you want more than that? This was all in the first 2 minutes of video... Did you not listen?!?!?!?
