    I like my c400 GT triple black. No issues in 1400 miles. Thanks for the review. Nothing is perfect but comes down to what you like and what you can live with every day. The scooter does get it done solo or two up.

      I'm growing to enjoy the scooter much more now the sqeeking and rattling of the bodywork has pretty much stopped. The suspension, although being very firm lends to great handling so it is forgiven on that score. Maybe I was a little too critical. I'm glad you're enjoying yours and thanks for watching.

    Hey Gary, good to hear the old Norn Iron accent😊 Portadown looks more tropical than up here on the North Coast! Looking at 6 months old BMW 400 GT or pre reg Suzi Burgman as recent knee op & can’t see me ever using my 2019 Honda Super Cub again 🥲 Mind you it has only 124 miles on it 🤩. You seemed to prefer the Bmer due to the clutch engaged at low speed still. Decisions Decisions! Keep ‘er between the hedges big lad 😎

    • @GaryGSF
      @GaryGSF Před měsícem

      I definitely found the Burgman a challenge as I ride a scooter all year round, since the drive dropped off at approx 18mph. It meant you were coasting around wet corners. Not ideal. The BM has rock hard front suspension which was really uncomfortable around town on our patchwork roads. Much better out of town on A & B roads. The bodywork rattles and creaks were also really annoying. On the upside the BM was the best handling scooter I ever owned. I since traded the BM for a Honda SH350i which I still have and love. It is admittedly not as stylish as both the BM & Burgman but it just works. No rattles or creaks and so much more compliant front forks. It may be a consideration for you as it has a flat platform for getting on and off with your bad knee. Good luck in your purchase and thanks so much for watching my vid.

    Had my 2019 GTSE for a month now and am loving it. After a motorcycle the suspension is rather basic but it does handle really well. My first ever scooter but I don't think it will be my last - and I've been riding 56 years! Next week I am doing a 600 mile tour in three days - be interesting to see how I feel after that. That is one long biking career. You will be fine on the BMW on a long run like that. It is so much better on the open road. The suspension is just too hard for local road at lower speed. Thanks for the review, Gary. The BMW and the Suzuki Burgman are on my short list. In your video you say that the BMW is by far better than the Burgman. For how many miles did you ride the Suzuki and in what areas does the BMW excel?

    • @GaryGSF
      @GaryGSF Před 2 lety +6

      The BMW handles better and even rides like a motorbike. The big thing about the Suzuki is that the auto clutch disengages at around 17-18 mph. In wet weather this means that you are coasting around junctions with no drive to the wheels. Very dangerous. The BMW drops at approx 10-12 mph, and constant drive is provided. I had the Suzuki 2 years and approx 8000 miles. I hope this helps.

      The only real pls for the GT over the X is a bit more weather protection. Personally I would sway towards the Honda as I think they have better build quality. I have since traded the BMW for a Honda SH350i which is more basic but smoother and better built. Thanks for watching.

    • @timdobby5365
      @timdobby5365 Před 2 měsíci

      I would agree. Honda build quality is better, I chopped my BMW C650GT (fast, comfy, good tech bits but heavy and some build issues) for a Forza 300 which I kept for 4 years and then bought an ADV350 2 years ago (ADV has a smaller, manually adjusted screen but handling road presence and looks are better). One other BMW issue (and I am not anti BMW - I admire their inventiveness and perseverance trying to compete in a global mkt against the big established scooter masters) is servicing costs. The GT was going to cost a lot to service as the mileage grew so that plus the weight convinced me it was not a ‘keeper’. But a couple of years ago, BMW Mottorad’s boss said in their view scooters were the two wheeled future and I would not be without one for road use.

    hi Gary, thank you for your honest review, a week ago i got my brand triple black edition 2024 model. Today it has around 320 km in the clock, i am experiencing :
    - brake growling ( litteraly growling like being worn ) front calipers when i brake harder
    - squeeking rear brake pads
    - front suspension strange sound ( i wish i could send you the videoclip of that sound cause i have recorded it)
    - mild squeeking from the clutch when driving around town in low revs.
    According to your review a lot of plastic sounds and squeeks will go away...did tou experience similar situations with your c400gt?
    Now, some positive comments regarding this scooter:
    - I have been driving scooters all my life and this is what are the positive things:
    - there is no scooter with this level of tech currently on the market
    - handling is amazing
    - the most comfortable scooter currently on the market
    -the best braking distance by far
    - the fastest scooter up to 400cc by far.

    • @GaryGSF
      @GaryGSF Před 3 měsíci +1

      The brakes can be noisy on the scooter. I did take the pads out and used a rubber based grease (designed for brakes) to the calliper pistons and the back of the pads and that cured the brake noise. Of course being careful not to get any on the brake linings. I didn't have any sound from the suspension so that is a new one on me. There can be a mild squeak from the belts from time to time. I have found this in any big capacity scooter I have owned. Even my Honda SH350i does it from time to time. The bodywork on my BM squeaked like hell. Was less when ridden in the wet. It did however come and go but drove me mad, coupled with the rock hard front forks.
      There is no arguing about how well specced the scooter is. It has all the bells and whistles. It was also the best handling scooter I have ever owned. It did handle almost like a motorbike. I'm sure the hard front suspension had a lot to do with that. On open A roads it was at home but in bumpy small town roads it was very firm. Also as you say, the brakes are the best I have ever had on a scooter. It is fast too.
      Good luck with your scooter and have many safe and happy miles on it. Thanks so much for watching my video and taking the time to comment.

      @armend020788 Před 3 měsíci +1

      Gary, thank you for your response. I would kindly ask you if you could explain me in detail about the grease...did tou grease the brake pad where the surface touches the disk? Some people say it should be greased in both ends of the brake pad so it can be a little bit curved at the edges of the brake pad. I am curious if there is any warranty void if i swap OEM brake pads with after market ones like brembo or something similar...cause honestly, the whole squeeking sound and growling sound from the front is driving me mad...

    • @GaryGSF
      @GaryGSF Před 3 měsíci +1

      @@armend020788 I definitely would not touch the contact surface with grease. Strictly speaking copper grease should be applied to the back of the pad rather than the red rubber stuff I used. I was using it on the brake pistons to salt proof them for the winter and continued to the pads. It worked ok. I do that and fit fork gaiters to my scooter prior to winter as I use it all year. I would think the warranty would be voided if non OEM stuff was used. I hope you get rid of the noises as they can be infuriating.

    update: 2 months into owning the 2022 it’s already in the shop for repairs… a warranty is meaningless when parts and quality are nonexistent. i’m hopeful that yours “if you own one” hasn’t started leaking oil. look underneath the CVT and see if there’s oil collecting, if so, there’s a build / quality issue. these are very very expensive and too have it usable for only a few weeks seems pretty poor.
