Hey Cultivator, glad you're here! Thanks for tuning into this video! Tell me in the comments, what did you learn? How would you rate your current resume on a scale of 1-10?

Thanks for the great insight. It would helpful to see all of the sections on a one page resume to see the whole picture and then break out the sections by themselves.

Tammy Hodges hi Tammy! In my resume module I do this. :) CZcams is a bit different in how I structure my tutorials - it’s less formal! Thanks for your feedback

@@CultivateYourCareer Hi Emily, wonderful insights indeed. Thank you. I have the same question in fact and I am wondering how I could sneak it all on one page.

    Hello,
In one of your other videos you suggested using only one column when building your resume. In this video the resume contains areas where the typing doesn't begin at the left margin (indents/tabs). When/where would it be beneficial to use this format? Thanks

Hi Emily, thank you for your tips! I really like how you explained each topic with examples. But how about formatting? Not long ago I've spent a lot of time translating my old CV format into a more modern/ minimalist/kind of creative format, so instead of the table formatting, I've composed my new CV with text boxes. I've learned that ATS doesn't read heather & footer text, tables or graphs & images. But how about text boxes? How should one create a pleasing format without any of these formatting tools? Also, many advise against applying with a pdf. format. Generally, it used to be no-no to send your CV as doc. format due to the formatting incompatibilities it might create. I'd love to know your opinion on these topics. :)

Irina, I'm a big fan of submitting a PDF over a DOC because it maintains the structure/formatting.
Same with my answer above, if your information isn't being auto-parsed/auto-filled, it's a good indication that your resume is not as readable and you can test it out.
I love beautiful modern resumes with columns, and highly recommend having one of those if you're getting a referral or handing your resume to someone. :)

So what do you write in the summary when you're applying to a job in a new field?

Hi Emily- I learned a lot of helpful tips from your video and with a few minor tweaks will be able to make my resume fantastic.
However, I did have 1 question for you!
Is it true that ATS systems are unable to read columns (as in a typical skills section) and therefore your application could be automatically rejected???
    Thanks so much!!
    Katie

Some of them, yes! If you find that when your name, phone number, etc isn't being accurately autoparsed, it means that your resume is not as scannable!
