Just found out that Bowen actually had a degree in chemistry and was about to pursue med-school because of Sandra's character in Grey's Anatomy but then realized he actually loved acting instead. This sketch must've been a big win for him at the time, wow.

Great skit. The arrival of Kim Jong-un was my favorite part. Sandra and Bowen Yang were terrific. Cecily and Beck had the best Russian accents. I really wish Taran Killam was still around to do these kinds of skits. His impressions were always spot on.
This is ONE of the BEST SKITS (among others) SNL have. I'm going to watch it again, lol. The north Korean Leader and his interpreter made my stomach hurt from laughing. 😁😂😁
Comic actors, as opposed to stand-up comedians, are very rare and require a completely different skill set. Sandra Oh's got it! 🤣
I feel like the fact the people playing Russian Military Goon 1 & 2 are the same people who play Eric and Don Jr. is more than a coincidence.
And Kremlin staffer Tatiana (I think that's her name?) is played by Cecily Strong, who plays Melania.

to me, they’re portraying them undercover as melania, eric & don jr on purpose. they make little comments and their acting points towards that being obvious. like in the beginning of the skit they’re just wanting to talk about trump, looking at each other, etc. it was the perfect touch to pull the whole video together!!

Rump just wants to *be* like Putin really badly, so he acts like a groupie toward him. He thinks authoritarian dictatorships are great and wants to create one for himself. Many of his supporters agree but are too dishonest to come out and say so on record, and many others actually believe the cover story about how he's saving American freedom from caricatures of pedophile communist demons. If Rump ever truly gets his way, there won't be any so-called freedom for anyone who doesn't kiss his ass or his nepotistic kids' asses.

I keep watching and laughing! And I'm Ukrainian, former Soviet, with native Russian fluency. and I love everything in this sketch. Even the overdone Russian accent and soldier's badges on the general's chest. It all adds to the fun.
