At over $300.00 you don't think that Magnetron is a "Premium Knife". It just feels like one. I guess I really am a poor.

Some people are in too deep. I personally think the watch hobby is a little tacky. But the knife world has its own Rolex down to Casio. Does it get the job done AND have long lasting durable performance? It’s high end. Does it look cool at the same time? I consider it Premium. I refuse to accept knives that look like they they could be hanging in a plastic Walmart mold.
I don’t have a Magnetron but I have many We knives. The Magnetron looks really cool and I would definitely consider it to be a premium knife.

Your right. Many USA made are over rated and over priced. A Benchmade with ultra cheap scales over 400.00 no thanks. There is so many options with premium material under this price that make me think that I don't see the day that I will buy another Benchmade again. My money is too hard to earn . . .

My Varatas (OG version) drops down nicely. Needed few flick to break in though. Probably my favorite $100+ knife of last year. Maybe overall with Vision FG and surpisingly Petrified Fish Hourglass.
Also I think 2023 version of Black Mirror has S90V steel .. for the same money ... crazy.
I was waiting for months for the militaw to come back in stock. I immediately bought one last week when they were restocked.
Man it must have been a pain narrowing the list down this past year as there have been soo many great knives that have come onto the market at different price points over a hundred bucks. Been a great year to be a knife knut though lol. The Kizer escort in 20CV was one of my favorite ones along with some releases by Cold Steel like the Mayhem and 5Max. Great way to see what you like and prefer in knives. Thanks for the great vid and keep making sharp things fun and enjoyable.
I absolutely love the blade on that Panchenko! It reminds me so much of one of my favorite designs out there. To see what I'm seeing check out the Kershaw/ Sinkevich: Concierge or the Shirogorov/ Sinkevich: Cacannibis. Both are the same knife but, obviously very different quality levels. I so wish the Concierge hadbeen. done through ZT rather than the Kershaw branch. It was such a worthy design. Only thing you will not like will be the pocket clip ( outta pocket is tough).
I bought the concierge on sale on BladeHQ a while back. Actually a solid knife, but the pocket clip does stink. Would love to see it in that $200-250 price bracket rather than either $35 or $700 lol.
The Black Mirror is my favorite work knife. It’s not so expensive that I worry about scuffing it up but the materials (s90v, bro) and quality are top notch. It also looks great.

I still need the Varatas, Militaw, and Huntsman. I would have put them way higher because the quality to price ratio is crazy. The Bestech Cetus is one of my most wanted knives too, best design from Poltergeist works I’ve seen!
Realsteel made them decent and the prices were not as expensive.

I was surprised to not see the Chavez Redicion with the kick stop. Other than that, loving my Padre and MSI that passed the spine whack test repeatedly.
Want WMK Kizer Milltaw with some other inlays,,i'm waiting for that. But I'm surprised to not seeing Kizer The Clairvoyant. It's been in my pocket since i got it 2 months ago.

It would have been cool if you also added the price along with the name of the knife. Also, I’m a bit shocked/disappointed that the Flytanium Arcade and the MBK Rosalinda didn’t make the list or at least an honorable mention…those two along with the Padre and the Militaw are probably the best knives I have handled in 2023. I guess it just comes down to personal preference 😅 Nevertheless, still a very very good list 👍🏽

I'm surprised more companies don't already have a compression lock model out now the patent is up. It seemed axis locks were around before the patent was up from other companies than benchmade, looking at you ganzo lol.

@@AudibleVisibIekizer also is offering insane materials for the price point on their budget stuff, especially when they run sales on their site. you can get full size knives with g10/micarta and 154cm for literally like $42 right now on their site on sale. even normally 154cm/n690/vg10 for around 60-70 dollars is a pretty damn good deal when most other companies are offering d2 or 9cr at the same price

Aren't Washers better for a salty/beach environment? Fairly sure that's why QC uses them over Washers in most cases.
How did the MSI get on the list? Failing locks very low hardness and issues sharpening and poor performing. And mushy action. Lol you rated it 5? Lolol how? Its awesome, but has zero good properties that would make it awesome.

The detent on that knife is mushy, and also somehow with a light detent the action is still shake-shut and not really droppy at all. Baffling knife, not worth the pricetag, frankly.
The American Blade works is a Model 2 if I’m not mistaken. Not a model 1.
No one takes about the Sog Zero One at all and I think it was one of my favorite knives i picked up in 2023. I have not seen it on anyone’s lists at all. Do they not provide them for free for review ?

@@tacticalcenter8658 Mine is 61.8, but that's the point. I can decide if the advertised hrc is what I want. The knife is tested for hrc. And we are told what the range of values is. This is not the norm in the knife world. I appreciate that hrc is right in the description and right in the box when I open it. They care about it and I care about it. I hope that it becomes more the norm than the exception.
Most of the knives that you show are Framelock , Liner Lock ..I notice that it seems to be your favorite Lock ..How about Button Lock , Axis Lock / Crossbar , Compression Lock which is favorite by many Knife Enthusiast ...You only showed very few of those !
It's because truthfully most knives in general are made with the tried and true frame/integral/liner lock mechanism. They give the user, without question, the best/snappiest opening action and the most satisfying (yet reliable) closing *click* when that detent ball goes home into the blade. Other than the compression lock which has almost identical opening action as liner/frame locks since it relies on a detent ball mechanism (but Spyderco just really hasn't come out with many new models), there really isn't another lock that mimics the functionality, or even is mass produced, in a similar way that a liner lock provides for the user. Axis/cross bar locks, although can be fidgety, have spongey and mushy openings because of the nature of omega springs. Also with cross bar locks there's a whole other separate issue with the fact that omega springs tend to break randomly without any notice. Those reasons I mentioned is why most companies tend to make all, or mostly all, of their knife models in liner locking or frame locking configuration; which inevitably provides a higher yield of models that are actually exceptional knives to market. This in turn provides less exceptional options with models utilizing cross bar/back lock/button lock systems.
Jared did mention a few button locks on this list and I will agree that this was the year for button locks; especially WE and CJRB who have their "detents" and actual locking solidity down to perfection, but still not enough models to go head to head with how many great liner and frame locks have come out.

Coming in at the buzzer for 2023, the Berg Blades Barber, full size button lock, is hands down one of the best knives of the year for me. Top five, if not top 3. The sparrow stryx, the jack wolf gunslinger, the Tuya wrath and the null voodoo were my other favorites and the barber is right there with them
Still waiting for the pre order of the Nefaris to arrive from BladeHQ. Probably will never happen. We'll see

Best knives over $100? I think you should have had a cap? Also should have disclosed who's promoting you? These are all the hyped up knives currently man but by far are they the best knives over $100 because the sky would be the limit.
Where the Piratech fails is the axis lock instead of a liner lock to take full advantage of clean scales. I'm calling it the biggest flop of an otherwise fantastic idea because of that alone.

You can make a knife sharp with that carbide tool. You use it like a knife to sort of whittle the edge. You carve the edge. You have to barely touch it. If you look close with a magnifier you can see the scrape marks. It does work though.
