- Doug gives his thoughts on the new trailer for Wicked. Will this movie be any good?
Wicked is an upcoming American musical fantasy film directed by Jon M. Chu and written by Winnie Holzman. It is the first of a two-part film adaptation of the stage musical of the same name by Stephen Schwartz and Holzman, which in turn was based on the 1995 novel of the same name by Gregory Maguire. The film stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, with Michelle Yeoh, Jeff Goldblum, Jonathan Bailey, Ethan Slater, Marissa Bode (in her film debut), Bowen Yang, Bronwyn James, Keala Settle, and Peter Dinklage in supporting roles. Set in the Land of Oz before and continuing after Dorothy Gale's arrival from Kansas, the film revolves around Elphaba Thropp, a green-skinned woman, and explores the path that leads her to ultimately become the Wicked Witch of the West, all while forming an unlikely friendship and later rivalry with Glinda Upland, who would go on to become Glinda the Good.

"I hope you're happy. I hope you're happy, now."
Scrooge McDuck:I am.
"I got a message for The Action Man. I'm happy, hope you're happy too."
Also, Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard of Oz, thoughts? 😁
Straight up magic is how I describe this
Seriously? In this? Can he even sing?
@@omarsalem1219 idk
@omarsalem1219 Well, he can rap. Have you ever seen his rap battle with Corden?
🎵You host the Tonys,
For actors who sing,
Which is funny, 'cause you suck
At both of those things!
And Crosswalk: The Musical
Makes you a star,
Because people tune in,
Hoping you're hit by a car!🎵
@omarsalem1219 there has been several recordings of Goldblum singing at jazz bars, so yep. Jeff Goldblum does know how to sing.
Wicked is my favorite musical, I’m praying it’s good
I'm looking forward to it myself.
Also, this is supposed to be a part one since it is based off of the broadway play with added elements from the book, as I was told from other places.
I wonder what they're adding from the book... it's down right x rated in some places 😅
@singingsiren82 guess is as good as mine and I never read it, but familiar to the plot of it.
Might read it one day though.
Hey Doug, are you planning to review DuckTales the Movie: Treasure of the Lost Lamp?
I'm liking the color scheme. It has a classic Technicolor vibe that I really like.
The movie is definitely gonna be one of my favorite experiences of this year, and next year as well. Yes, the director, Jon M Chu, has confirmed that the movie is gonna be in two parts.
Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande are sharing some great chemistry together as Elphaba (The Wicked Witch of the West) and Glinda (The Good Witch), respectively. The film already has a promising cast of stars from film, television, and theatre. Only recently did we have a confirmation of who's playing Dr Dillamond (The Goat Professor), and that is Peter Dinklage.
I'm just hoping we get some cameos of some of the OG cast members, like Idina Menzel (OG Elphaba) and Kristen Chenoweth (OG Glinda) make a cameo, most likely as their own respective characters' mothers. Heck, maybe even a cameo by composer Stephen Schwartz himself. But that's just me.
Aside from that, on a personal note, this movie is coming across a turning point in my life. I saw _Wicked the Musical_ originally in its stage version exactly ten years ago. By the time the film comes out, I'm gonna be turning twenty years old. So this comes as both a Thanksgiving gift and a personal birthday present.
I'm personally am very sceptical about it considering Hollywood's previous endeavors with Broadway musical adaptations.
Although, this director made In the Heights, and that turned out pretty good.
Then again, he also made Jem and the Holograms
This movie has had a very long development hell. Originally supposed to come out in 2016, then got tossed from director to director for years. I’m a bit worried!
I really want to see some more love for Twisted
Can't wait For it 🫡
Did you look at the Twisted Metal show?!
You forgot Twisters
Yup
I’m not a huge fan of wicked I like wicked but maybe I’m not crazy about Ariana grande or what it is but I mixed. I like that Goldblum is Oz and I’m buying into this actress who is supposed to be the wicked witch. But I feel like this trailer just kinda gave us literally the entire movie almost. Maybe I’m wrong but that’s what it feels like plus with the mix of things that look interesting and uninteresting to me
Certainly a better Wicked Witch than a blue Fairy. I hated that the Pinocchio remake wasted Cynthia's screen time. Just brings Pinocchio to life, sings the Wish Upon a Star, and that's it.
Shiz is more than a magic school.
WICKED The film will be split into 2 movies, but most of the trailers have shown clips from both films. I agree it would be better if they thought a little more outside the box for "School with magic"
When's the studio opening back?!
Oh come on Shiz is no Hogwarts
I think it looks alright
Awesome video!
When will you review Good Burger 2?
Luke Combs has put out a track for Twisters
Seen the crow remake trailer, and Bettlejuice 2 trailer.
I’m surprise you didn’t mention anything about Jeff Emeraldbloom.
What did you think of the Wizard of UHz?
🥱😴😴😴
He's using the same tone I do when I try to convince myself that something isn't going to be as bad as I imagined.
😮💨🤷
I hope this movie is worth watching
Honestky as soon as i hear Ariana Grande speak i was like "oh you're just trying to sound like Kristen." (Kristen Chenoweth olayed Galinda in the original stage adaptation.) She is a very talented singer, but I'm worried that shes idolized the original production of Wicked so much that it will actually affect her acting performance.
I mean, she did actually see the original cast perform when she was younger. It makes sense she'd base her performance on Kristen. But you have a point, she needs to make that performance her own. Although, I also see a bit of Regina George in her performance.
@@iainwhite8617 I think the Regina George-ness is just her inherent mean gorl energy she seems to give off
@@TWeisbergPhoto2 Well, it does kind of fit with Galindas initial bitchiness, so I'm here for it.
My only gripe is that it looks like a live action movie from Disney 💀.
I still don't get why they're going to make it 2 movies
It is a Part 1, they’re just doing everything they can to hide it.
Two parts. Yes. For Wicked. 😐
I dont buy Ariana Grande as Galinda at all.
Anyone sick of Howard such read Witch Hat Atelier. Its 100 times better than harry potter and the creator is not a horrible person
I'm tired boss. I'm tired of Hollywood re-hashimg the same tired old franchises. Wizard of Oz, planet of the apes, Ghostbusters, India jhones, lion king. ENOUGH! Give me something original for once please.
Cynthia more expressive? I mean from her voice she seems to put more emotion but like Grande she lacks the facial expression that’s required on film and I think that probably is because of the awkward makeup
It’s a two parter? Well shit, there goes my hype.
Booo, the wicked movie looks weak. I don't expect better from Disney, but I half hoped for something better.
Ha ha, two parts? Major fail brah...do you even relate to the times?😅😅😅
Not gonna see it!
Also Owl House did Hogwarts better!
Also, does Harry and Draco's relationship better, huh?
😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@sebastianemond5313 Yep. Shame about Hunter's sexuality being subtle.
@@ChrisTalkz I was referring to Luz and Amity, going from enemies to friends to girlfriends.
@@sebastianemond5313 Sorry! I should have specified.
This look horrible
