Doesn't work on my iPhone 13 pro max
This doesn’t work with my brand new iPhone 15 pro max with ios 17 on it
Since update my iPhone 14 Pro Max no longer has STANDBY ???
My iPad never leaves home, why didnt they make this feature available for the ipad? Most people never shut down their iPad either so leaving it in this mode plugged in would have been convenient.

@@JAY-bb7ycAlways on display is a software feature, not a hardware feature. If you go to Settings, Display and Brightness, Auto Lock, and set it to never, your screen will be always on. They just need to enable this on the lock screen. Since Stand By will be available exclusively while the device is charging, there's no reason for Apple to not bring this functionality for all their devices.
@@ricardo.mazetopanel has to support 120hz to be efficient. Hardware is important
@@JAY-bb7yc No. The display doesn't need 120hz refresh rate, because the phone will be charging. While charging, phones use the grid energy while the battery is charging. And that's why efficiency is not important. And as I said, every iPhone already have "always on display", sorta.
Already rocking a nightstand app on the pixel 7 pro with loads of customization and smart home integration, AND i have Google Assistant on voice activation. Thanks for the inspiration 😅
This is very beneficial indeed! I am hoping this will be eventually ported to iPadOS. My m1 11in iPad Pro would be even more perfect since that sits on my nightstand.

I like the feature and I'm already finding it useful with my iPhone, but this would have worked a lot better on iPads with their larger displays and folio covers which I assume most people who have iPads use already.

Is it possible to have clock, weather and calendar (or at least day of the week) at the same time?
do you need orientation lock off? or can it be locked in portrait and just placed it horitzontal for it to switch?

This feature works like a charm on my indoor magnetic dock. Even with just a lightning connector. But for some reason won't work in my Toyota Corolla with a lightning cable plugged into a USB port. Not enough juice?
@AppleInsider : Great video. Have you been able to get Standby Mode to have different displays on different chargers? That feature doesn't work for me.
What kind of charger are you using? Is it a stand for the Magsafe puck?
Will the feature works while not plugged in?
Super enjoying the standby and now I am thinking of upgrading to a phone with Always on Display. Sad it can’t stay on even with locked off since it will on work on lock mode lol. It’s just so funny tho, never even considered to use my phone this way since I usually fall asleep while using it haha.

what happens in aod mode with the photos? do they still show/change?
what does motion detect do? I'm in a well lit room but trying to wave the hand at the phone or do any motion doesn't seem to wake the screen up. Only touching and a shake to the table where the phone is charging can turn the screen on. Is that how motion to wake support to do? Not my motion but by vibration? Thank you.
What exactly does smart rotate do exactly? I haven’t noticed a difference turning it off or on

How to activate it? I have the iOS 17 beta and my phone is charging and in landscape mode… does it have to be on a wireless charging?
When I plug in my iPhone turn it on its side and enable this standby mode. It does not stay on for very long. Is it supposed to turn off the screen? If I want to use it as a bedside clock having a turn off isn’t very helpful. Am I doing something wrong?

how is yours not dim? mine goes dimmer and the brightness goes all the way down when in nightstand mode

I have the iso 17 but my phone doesn’t do that. When I have it charging and turn it sideways it doesn’t do anything different
Nice idea...Hope someone enables activating a radio station as a wakeup alarm. Or? Has this idea already available In IOS?

Unfortunately, I can't use standby mode because the clock displays Pacific Time even though live in Eastern Time. On my display there is CUP written near the 12, and a -3 written near the 6. For whatever reason I can't figure out how to fix it.
I can’t seem to get the feature to work where you receive a text and it pops up. Any thoughts?
My night mode red clock is -8 hours behind my uk time and it says CUP in the middle of it?? How can i change this to GMT. My phone is showing the correct time?

Seems like a precursor to a apple home pod device that has a screen. There have been rumours of that type of device being worked on so perhaps lots of these insights are features we’ll see on that device

I will use it as and additional screen in my car to CarPlay, CarPlay misses alot of features that can be replaced by StandBy
So, Standby Mode only works with very new iPhones? Is that right iPhones 14 & 15, I have a 12 and after about 30 second the screen just goes black.
iphone 14 pro - standby with 2 widgets hide its content after like 5 seconds, i can even swipe up and down and I see widgets with hidden content. But full screen clock stays on .. why ?

Will this work with all iPhones? I only heard "With iPhone 14 Pro's always on display" and the only model they show is the Pro. I'm sure it will work with all iPhones but I've been disappointed in the past.

This only works on the Pro version of iPhone 14 & 15. I hope Apple changes this for the non-Pro version for iPhone 14 & 15.

mine take like 1min to start standby mode :/ and the sad part that is on Iphone 11 the screen don't stay on so it doens't have a real purpose in my case cuz my phone charge on my desk wich is like 3 meter away from my bed..

I've always used third-party apps to put my phone in clock mode at night,
as someone who was brought up with digital alarm clocks.
It is a logical thing for me to use my iPhone as a digital alarm clock in landscape..
I've been saying for at least 12 years why Apple doesn't implement a night stand clock into the iPhone iOS that can show the clock etc
so when magsafe was released for the iPhone a few years ago I immediately thought they would do it then,
so when they showed this on Monday it immediately got my attention, I even jumped out of my chair
Yo we gotta get this guy to give Apple more banger ideas.
Because Apple puts out small incremental useless upgrades over the course of years to get all you people to buy more and more yet giving you very little. Apple is a joke, Android makes much better phones with an unlimited variety of Manufacturers. Ever notice how every Apple Phone looks and works exactly the same, and is controlled by them by limiting your own customization?
I have been using my i Phone as my bedside (nighttime) clock since my I Phone 10 for home and travel..... using 3d party apps
I don't know why, but this feature peaked my interest when revealed at WWDC. I do still have a few questions about this. Can the transition to red screen be turned off? Does it show currently active alarms that are set? Can you interact with the alarms as they are going off (hit the snooze/off button)?

I have a 14 pro max and cannot get it to stay on all night. Very frustrating.
What about the models that are not 14 Pro? Do they wake up the display when you approach it, just like apple watch, or do you have to manually tap it all the times that you wish to interact with it???

yes you have to tap it everytime you need to interact with :( at least on Iphone 11

Thanks for the video. A question, I have an Anker magsafe stand charger, and when I connect my iphone to it, StandBy comes up, but after about 20 seconds, the screen turns off, does anyone know why?

Standby mode will not remain on for more than 20 or so seconds on my Iphone 14 pro
OMG Wow, this is literally 100 times better than an Amazon Echo Show!!! And it even has a nighttime mode! Would be nice if there was a setting to allow standby mode display when not plugged in. Also as someone else pointed out, this needs to be on the iPad as well.
I'm now strongly considering selling the echo show on my nightstand.
