    Fluent and whitesur themes with their matching Kvantum theme are amazing! I use with dual core Celeron with 4gb ram just fine.

    2:50 Now that Plasma 6 is around the corner. Is the theming being revamped as you hoped here 1 year ago?

    Kvantum is wonderful, I still wonder why it is an independent project?
    For now I only see one problem, kde's accent color change is not reflected in Dolphin when kvantum is set as application style

      same!!! i dont know why

      Kvantum themes have their own colors leaving only the title bar and the icons untouched in dolphin, that's why you also use the color settings in KDE menu to match kvantum theming not the other way around.

    Nicolo, you commented on Kde Plasma 6, do you know if they will change the way themes are made? Will there be some style language instead of using SVG?

    if those application style components aren't SVGs, why are they still stored in each desktoptheme in /widgets? for example, there's widgets/scrollbar.svgz that defines the shape of the scrollbar. changing it doesn't do anything, but it's there.

  • @Dudik28
    @Dudik28 Před 2 lety +14

    I hate that I need to download each theme component separately, download specific kvantum theme for it, put it into correct folder, select it in kvantum twice, apply the kvantum theme in the settings, log out, log in and then I can see all the changes. So many steps just to change a theme.
    And then there's this whole thing about breeze themes, kvantum, aurorae, lightly and whatnot. Makes my head spin.

    • @sparkwave2
      @sparkwave2 Před 2 lety +5

      I agree, this and the performance hit is the reason I don't use Kvantum anymore, or even any themes at all beyond Breeze for that matter. It would be cool if Kvantum was somehow either integrated into Plasma or Plasma could change the theme in it
      And don't even get me started on the same themes also having their versions for other DEs, that's way too much

    • @andrewrapp8686
      @andrewrapp8686 Před 2 lety +2

      There's always the gnome approach of "you're not allowed to theme anymore".
      Basically why windows and macos also do not support theming out of the box.

    • @Dudik28
      @Dudik28 Před 2 lety

      @@andrewrapp8686 so? Where have I mentioned Gnome or other operating systems?

      it's clearly not for everyone and the process isnt hiding that lol

    • @Dudik28
      @Dudik28 Před 2 lety

      @@cosmicegg1283 not really. There are buttons everywhere to get new themes, widgets or whatever. But often times the themes in the theme shop don't work as they require you to download a separate theme manager. It can get quite frustrating to see a theme you like only to find out that you have to do this and do that.

    • @roo79x
      @roo79x Před 2 lety +1

      Yeah it's in most repos I am sure. I'm on Arch it's super easy to install. Was the same for me on kubuntu and KDE Neon. I think it is misleading to recommend compiling it. Most decent themes are in the Arch repos as well and they are automatically available in kvantum if they have thag component. I use Fluent Dark theme personally. QT apps like qbittorrent can use kvantum as well which makes them look a part of the system. qt6ct doesn't support KDE themes sadly
