Doc Hudson va passed away before this movie came out. So they decided to take Doc out and remembered him by. Originally he wasn't meant to died at all but unfortunately it happened sadly
I'm glad they didn't get someone else to voice the character and just put remembrance for the VA instead. Legendary move from Pixar.

I do kinda like the bold choice to make McQueen still be a jerk to Mater saying "I don't need your help, i don't want your help!" a line you can feel like he said it to his pit crew a lot, it would be nice to have like a small scene where he contacts "Chuck" and apologize, like yes you understand his anger but it still kinda shows that he has that arrogant side of him during his time before he met everyone in Radiator Springs, yes someone can change but the flaws of a characters can still be there, the line of "he's your best friend... so why did you ask him to be someone else" is a very deep quote
I agree. Even if someone changes, it's possible for them to backslide a little when something goes wrong.

So many people hate on cars 2 but it’s my personal favorite out of the trilogy it’s a very good movie and tells a great story I really love watching this movie!!

I’m being honest here, I have a soft spot for this movie. It’s actually pretty good in some parts. It has great action, some actually funny jokes, and I was never left bored when I watched it. This should be appreciated more.

Finally! Someone who understands good car themed spy capers!
This was another one of my favorite Cars movies back when I was still a kid. People believed the movie was bad, but I think it was good considering it was action packed and Mater being the main character in the movie having a lot of funny moments. Also, Spy Agent Finn McMissile is voiced by Michael Caine. He retired as an actor in the age of 90 after 2 Oscars and having an 8 decade career.

Main reason why people hated 2 is because 2 completely went off the rails. 1 had a more simple grounded story. Not to say 2 was bad. It was just very jarring compared to 1. Cars 3 actually goes back to being grounded.
I am still surprised that Cars 2 took a different storyline, 1st Movie was McQueen stuck in a forgotten town & now we got this intense spy movie in Cars but it’s more about Mater then McQueen& the 3rd Movie goes back to MacQueen & it’s also gorgeous since it talks about the new generation

It's not bad as a movie, the issue that people had with it was that it was a mainline movie instead of a spinoff movie. People wanted to see more of the race instead of the spy stuff. Movie is actually good but should've been a spinoff imo.
My guess people didn't like it cause it is not Lightning Mcqueen is not the main focus, I seen Mator shorts on disney channel before (or was it after?) of him going through similar crazy scenarios lol

Honestly, as somebody correctly said once, the whole movie feels like a higher budget version of "Mater Tall Tales" shorts with him as a wrestler, singer, detective and now a spy. It just doesn't really deserve to be "Cars 2"

That doesn’t make sense. Just because McQueen isn’t the focus and racing isn’t the plot doesn’t mean it’s not a worthy sequel. Cars is about sentient vehicles living lives like we do. That’s what all the cars movies are about

They actually planned to include Doc Hudson in Cars 2 but Paul Newman (Doc's VA) died in 2008. 2 years after Cars, 3 years before Cars 2. Maybe they had already recorded something with him but probably decided to not replace him, scrap anything they had that included Doc and paid tribute both to actor and the character. [*]
I will say the cars tv series on Disney+ is actually pretty decent it’s basically a buddy comedy show with Mater and lightning just driving across their world and of course hi-jinx ensue 😂 (for example: mater and lightning meet what is essentially bigfoot) and having visited Paris I can tell you it’s amazing

I love the fact the car sounds in this are pretty accurate, especially with the European cars. Pretty clean

I really liked this movie and was genuinely surprised at all the negative feedback. It's nice to see someone else getting passionate about it.
I love that Mater was the main character solving the mystery in this one. No Idea it was gonna be Miles when I first watched this. What a twist.

Even though I enjoyed the soundtrack by Michael Giacchino, the performances and inclusions of Michael Caine (Finn McMissle), Emily Mortimer (Holley Shiftwell), and John Turturro (Francesco), and the character of Mater, I feel that Mater becoming the main character kind of took much of the attention away from Lightning McQueen in the sequel, and the fact that it takes the Spy trope where the "unlikely hero becomes a Spy" takes away the message of the first and third film, along with the fact there we’re just too many Antagonists in this film. Secondly, having Miles Axelrod being the true evil mastermind and leader instead of Professor Z (who I still consider to be more of an evil leader and mastermind than Axelrod) was like a WTF.
I know there are several folks that still enjoyed this film enjoyed it and that’s fine more power to all of you, it’s your opinion to enjoy _Cars 2_ with a few saying _Lightyear_ is Pixar’s "worst film", but in my opinion, I consider _Cars 2_ to be Pixar’s weakest and worst film and literally the film was a turning point for Pixar, that the studio wasn’t invincible with having all of their films gaining critical acclaim, so it took the studio a while to regain their footing again on making critically acclaimed films until _Inside Out_ was released 4 years later.
Yes, we had _Brave_ and _Monster’s University_ released after _Cars 2_ and those films had better critical reception than _Cars 2_ but not the same level of Critical Acclaim compared to Pixar’s other films released before _Cars 2_ (e.g. _Toy Story 1-3, A Bugs Life, Monster’s Inc., Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Ratatouille, Wall•E, Up)_

Being completely honest here, I never got the hate for Cars, especially the second movie. I legitimately enjoy the movie. I think it's funny, I like it's message and Mater is just a joy to watch!

Funny that Cars 2 tries too hard to be a spy movie and failed at it. Meanwhile, The Incredibles was one without trying to be and ended up being one of the best Pixar movies ever lol
But honestly Cars 2 isn't great, but not terrible. My only complaint is that Lightning is barely around in this movie and he is the main protagonist. Toy Story 2 did this as well as they put Buzz in the drivers seat but made sure to switch to Woody a lot to make him still prominent. Cars 2 should've did that and had Lightning team with Mater instead of making him a side character in his own francise.
The Incredibles is a superhero movie not a spy movie. in fact Pixar never did make a spy movie again after this flop iirc.
