"Put On a Smile" is the greatest love song of the last 30 years, since "I Have Nothing" by Whitney Houston, and one of the best songs about heartbreak sung by a man OF ALL TIME. It belongs in the same conversation as "Tracks of My Tears" by Smokey Robinson and "Ain't No Sunshine" by Bill Withers. Just an incredible piece of work. Period.

The GOAT. It's the single greatest song about letting someone go. The song is perfectly arranged in a way that you slowly feel them singing her soul out of their body and then singing its ascension into the heavens (or descent into hell, if it's the same girl from Smokin' Out The Window).

It's crazier in context because there's really a little storyline that runs through the whole album.
This song actually follows off of smokin out the window. Smokin out the window is some true r&b drama but put on a smile is when they get personal, even bootsy says at the start of the track "tell her how you really feel".
The entire album is incredible. No skips.

And he helped produce the song with Bruno, bruno called him up to give him feedback on the song. He rocked up to the studio, listened to the track and said to bring it up and add some modulation and all that science sht.

I think most of us all agree you should definitley do the entire album, It is a god damn masterpiece. If you don't want to do the whole album at once, I highly recommend going over all the songs in their own video, it is entirely worth it.

i've been watching a few reactions to this song and they all seem to comment on paaks voice in the second verse (almost like they think thats the first time they can hear his voice), leading me to believe that people think its bruno singing first LMAO. Great reaction bruh! This ish epic! Them boys went hard as they could payin homage to the era but in there style, leavin it all out on the floor like we say in sports. They actually had help, as Bruno called in Baybyface, who told him, ‘Ya’ll gotta put a modulation in right here (take it to the next key), & he also sang background vocals. But that point wit Bruno holdin out that note on the word, ‘dyyyyyyyin’, which also matches up with Andy’s drum fill when he resolves it. That could sum up this whole project right there. These cats put in work like it was no tomorrow.
This whole album will be remembered for a very very long time... truly a masterpiece 💫
