Cover Crops at Stone Barns Center

As part of our crop rotation plan for the vegetable fields, we allocate two sections for cover crops. In April we seeded these field sections with flax, phacelia, milky oats, buckwheat, rye, and field pea. These crops feed the soil and let the growing space rest for a full season. The cover crop fields attract a variety of pollinators-and people!
