#SpyroGyra #Jazz #Music - Hudba
in 1979 having heard nothing but the pop music we were fed, I was walking to work, aged 17 when I heard Morning Dance on a tiny cassette player on the small electric cart the milk delivery guy used - it changed my life At 62 now I have verything they ever did and of course they led me to Grover Washington, Ronnie Laws, and little by little, to Miles Davis, Bill Evans The Brubecks, etc My 28 yr old son continues and enhances the journey - one chance moment and a lifetime of joy Thank God or whoever loves you
I'll bet it blew your mind. My favorite is Carnival
With you brother
That is exactly the same yr I heard Spyro gyra I love their music too and I’m now 63 I know how you feel 😍😍😍😍
Rest in paradise presley!!

I've been listening to these cats for years and it never gets old .....
Play'on my brothers....!
WOW I was thinking the same thing AMEN Brother.
Discovered them in the 80's. When I got to college I'd open the windows on a rainy evening, load up a couple of their cassettes to decompress...usually with a beverage or two containing hops and barley. Good times!
Right on brother. My 3 fave songs plus Philly. Brings me back to 1979.
They are like family....listening Spyro since 40 yrs.
Beer and hopes/ 70’s / umm 🤔 / might bit more than that/Red bud and seeds/!!✌️
They were introduce to me by my older brother, when i was 40"s nd now am 64,still loves to listen to their album..relaxes my brain.Thankyou guys for sharing your talents,/Longlive..
These are superb smooth jazz classics. The difference between today’s smooth jazz and these wonderful compositions is that these are composed pieces of music that have a PROGRESSION and say something- compared to today’s smooth jazz music that is almost always a mind numbing two bar loop repeated infinitely. Great job guys!!❤
First introduced to these guys when I was 23 years old, I’m 66 now and have loved them for all these years. Pure class
Same age as me. I bought their first album and every album since.
I have been fortunate enough to have introduced to it by my Dad at the tender age of 6...now it is my memory of him and i carry it forward to my 3 boys...#timeless
Now...this is what I call...MUSICIANSHIP...EXCELLENT, WORLD CLASS MUSICIANS...NOT BULLSHIT SOUND MACHINES!!
Yes! Yes! I was 20 and they came to Akron, Ohio when I was in college. Been in love ever since!
I was 22 when I hooked to
These guys and that started it all . Now I'm, m 65 and still loving it.
I've rocked with these dudes since forever...whomever put a "thumbs down " on this video has their ear in their foot!!
LMAO!
Maybe their foot in their ear?
They were really good...
And I think these ones are in over ankle deep!! 🤣🤣
I been with these guys since "Morning Dance & Shaker Song!" Love their music 💙!
Shakers song, reminds me of palm trees, white sand and crystal clear blue water 🌴
Loved you 1st in 1979 and always will Love you !! Thank you Spyro Gyra
Spyro Gyra: BEST BAND!!
Apsolutno ste u pravu! ;)
Gran banda!!! Tengo todos sus discos y he sido y soy muy feliz escuchándolos. Gracias por todo ese maravilloso sonido que nos brindan.
I think so
@@beltello1 soy su fan desde 2980 y también tengo todos sus discos
Agree!!
But please, try Tryphon, on Spotify!!
And tell me what you think about
👍👍
40 years later and it still sounds fresh. REAL talent, REAL musicians, REAL instruments (plus some help!)
What do you mean by "plus some help"? Like pre-recorded?
Rodolfo Saenz I interpreted that as the software instruments and patches used on the aux keys.
Mega ditto!
@@rodsaenz3975 p0mppp
@@youlerab8762 didn't get that!
I played you guys non stop when I was a kid and thought you’d disappeared. Thank goodness for CZcams. At 60 my life is full of joy again. Total perfection as ever.
They never stop putting on albums. You should have kept up with them
406 people say they don't like this medley, gee they must be hard to please. These guys are cool and brilliant.
Ha ha, Honestly, yes that must be the X factor group, so sad for them do know what there missed 😄 I feel like am back in my Ford Capri, sunroof open, 👍
please accept different opinions, thank you🎶
Honestly.. what is even the point of adding a thumbs down option? If you're groovin .. 👍🏽 if not.. just move on✌️
@@gnorggstrandoshian9588 Please accept my refusal to accept different opinions ;D
Well... in this case at least.
406 tone deaf people ! These guys are real musicians who make beautiful music for your listening pleasure .
Spyro Gyra. My old time fave.
I was opening with my band for them on a concert in the 80-ies at "Grosse Freiheit" in Hamburg Germany. After my gig we all watched their gig - it was a pure pleasures to hear and see my youth heroes on stage. That put on a great show, also the lighting mixing guy did his best to put in the best light and he knew all the kicks. Afterwards we all went out to have a pizza together. Such a joy to hang out with such nice and friendly colleagues. Thank you Spyro Gyra for all the joy you brought to my life - thank you! Nils Gessinger
Ditto... amazing!🌞🥰
Hey Nils , i also love the music of Spyro Gyra. Have almost all albums of Them. I remember that I heard you and Your band in Hamburg . Mönckebergstr. as an opener for the Hyatt hotel (?) or was it the the the galleria?. Must have been in the late 80is or 90is. Great gig too. Opened my mind to contemporary jazz music. So Spyro Gyra, Russ Freeman and the Rippingtons and 4 Play are still my all-time favorites. Stay healthy with greetings from the Elbinsel
Nils you got some funky smooth songs too.....I like the vibe you create... all the best to you
@@tate333666 Thank you very much! Glad you enjoyed it!

Growing up on the Cape Flats Cape Town South Africa back in the 80 s , i don't there will be a soul not who these guys are . You had to have a cassette in your car with these guys . Fast forward almost living 40 years in Canada, and i still go out of my way to listen to these guys . Cheerz

I know just what you mean. Pure class.
It takes me back to a time and place in my childhood - the very best of times
@@taleinz1 Proud to be 80's 💖💖💖
me too...
I’d dry your tears but with only manuscript paper handy I’d leave a big movable C clef on your cheek 😍
It's a summer's night in the mid 1980's
We're camping in the Namib Desert.
A deep black sky shimmering with the jewels of the great milky way.
Onto our 3rd bottle of 1927 KWV Port
... and Spyro Gyra booming over the oldest dunes in the world.
Can't get closer to heaven than that.
first time i heard jazz music was with Spyro Gyra it was in 1980 when i was 15 y.o.. !!!Congratulations Spyro Gyra¡¡¡
I approve of a 5 star rating for this band 👍
My late dad and my uncle introduced us a Spyro Gyra as little kids in the late 70's and 80's in South Africa. This video and the 3 songs . . . . . . . . WOW!!!!!!!!! This friggin awesome.

I'm old, been sick but found 💓today, found this beautiful music again!
I just can't explain how this music makes me feel, it's SO together
Very cool relax jazz music
It feels like a summer day. Late after noon in the park. Carefree!
I can explain WHY it makes you feel that: they're musicians of the highest caliber. a good composition can feel fresh for decades, as this piece shows!
because you are old and smart like i am...
I've struggled with this same emotion - here's my take - no matter what life is throwing at you, this music makes you feel like: 'things are gonna be OK'.
one of best sax player...Mr Jay Beckenstein....
Ten stars!! 🌟 ⭐️ 🌠 ⭐️ 🌠 💫 🌟 ⭐️ 🌠 💫
I can't say how glad I am that Spyro Gyra is still playin' on after all of these years! I've been a huge fan ever since Morning Dance started playing on the radio. Saw this band live twice. Spyro Gyra's music never gets old!
Skater Jeff me too! I was fortunate to work at Ontario Place as the PR guy for the Park and the amazing Forum from 1980 to 1986. It was a highlight to have Spyro Gyra come and play many years in a row to Toronto from their home in Buffalo. Jay and company, continued success and keep making wonderful music!
True legends in every sense of the word. 45 years and counting!
THe pride of Buffalo, NY - they've still got it!
LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!! NOTHING BUT LOVE!!!!
I’ll never forget the first time I heard Spyro Gyra; very early 80’s, Sony Walkman cassette player, warm early Fall day in John Bryant State Park Ohio, Freetime; my soul was filled for the first time by the sounds that caressed my ears.
Wow wow wow. It takes me 38 years back . I still play catching the sun from my vinyl.
I forgot how many wonderful melodies Jay came up with for the bands wonderful backing tracks.

Tom Schuman is my man.
I asked him after a Concert in Germany on which college he studied music. He answered that he never had any lessons but learned playing the keys all by himself... amazing...
Here in the Philippines
We call that
Uwido
Catching the tune all by himself/herself
Without any formal training
@@anthonyb.corrales4470 English equivalent is autodidact.
Alex Emhardt - This is incredible. My dad's dad, and my dad also learned keyboards by ear, and I blended that with some formal lessons. Tom Schuman is so talented - and worth following. He and Jay are the heart of this band, but backed up by the best talent in all the jazz fusion world. Please check out some of Tom's solo work - you wont be disappointed.
This performance of these great/wonderful "oldies" are so f********* awsome. They should republish these!!!
They did.....here
ALWAYS-WERE ON ON MY FAVORITE AND INFLUENTIAL BANDS♥️
My growing years! Miss those days!
Wow!!! SpyroGyra. Still around???? Morning Dance transported me back to my youth
Give these guys some respect. Legends.
'Twas in the early 80's when my late dear cousin Butch influenced me to listen to this ace jazz band. Spyro Gyra will always be special to me. Thanks cousin Butch.
I love that jazz.spiro long life forever
They just got better with age. Timeless music.
This music really made my day, feeling kind of blue because of a huge loss. Great memories. Thanks and God Bless.
Spyro for life!
Love you all!! God bless you for the beautiful music.😊😊💖💖💖
Back when music was performed by real musicians.
Con strumenti veri, non campionati.
There’s still plenty of that being made these days, just can’t expect any of it to be on the radio

Spyro Gyra, a great band! ♪ ♫
Favorite Jazz Band ! Saw them live several times in early 80s in St.Pete and Clearwater...had these Albums and wore em out!!
I miss this kind of music!!!!
Can't beat Spyro Gyra and the Rippingtons. My two fave's.
Couldn’t agree more 👍
Yes indeed! Russ Freeman and the Rippingtons is another awesome group!👍🏾
Let me add Fourplay to the list. These 3 bands are my favorites in smooth jazz at the same level. But no doubts, Spyro Gyra preceded their age.
bencebacsi1 leaving a band like Fourplay out is definitely a criminal offense!
What about the Yellowjackets. Still going strong!
I celebrated finishing every exam I'd taken by going home and playing "Morning Dance".....insanely uplifting...thank you
Aged to Perfection.
Am 67 and still loving it!
it's like heaven listening to this wonderful music ...
I love my 80s jazz,,, my favorite title “ it doesnt matter” cool electric guitar,,,listening to it since the 80s
I grew up listening to and LOVING this music
God the memories! I was 14-15 when I heard this band first in about 1974. Deep in the welsh valleys this was from another planet. Although it probably influenced my taste in Blue Rondo a la Turk and then Matt Bianco🤪 and the Basia!! I love all kinds of music but this resonates so much
Sweeeet memories of our little fam circa mid ‘80s during beach camping trips in our old dodge van and always striking up a joyful dance in the sand first thing in the morning to these tunes. Kids are grown, memories are fresh. Good stuff still.
Sweet

Spyro Gyra Changed My Life In 1985 When I First Heard Morning Dance
The MAGIC is still there!!!
Emaculate Alto Sax tone.. So warm an bubbly... I grew up south of Buffalo down in Pittsburgh... Jay was def a big influence in my tone and technic on Alto.... #saxgods
God I love his sound.
My uncle always had this on his Hi-Fi, until such a tender age of 9, my equally tender ears developed craving for such exquisite goodness.
I introduced the genre to my then gf, and now wife of 5 amazing years, and our relationship is built around music.
We explored a lot of jazz and Spyro Gyra tops it, hands down.
Now, am father to two amazing kids, they’re hearing these, and my son’s often stoic face lights up when Shaker Song turns up.
True music, true art, true love.
High power to you!
Beautiful 🎶
Same great music that last forever ❤️
Great then, great now. Love you guys.
Spyro Gyra is a perfect 10 in my book. Love the music.
Great memories! Back in 1978 I was part of a jazz fusion band in high school. We competed in the Canadian stage band festival in Edmonton. Playing a medley of Spyro Gyra tunes we ended up winning the competition! What an amazing experience...
Awesome! Great experience to have had.
These are just some of 'jazz fusion's' finest tunes ever.
First time I heard/saw Morning Dance on Top Of The Pops TV SHOW was in London in 1979, I flipped, in 1982 I stared a show on Radio Cairo, Egypt and was the only DJ playing this kind of music and to THIS DAY
To the One who brings most Joy
Wow! I am glad to be reconnected with your sounds after all these years
