What an outstanding red oak log! It must have been a tough decision saw it into lowboy decking. That log would have made some beautiful 4/4 grade lumber but you made the most of what you had to work with. There will be more red oak logs and more opportunities to saw grade lumber in the future! It was a real treat to see the high quality decking that came out of that one log! Thank you all for another amazing sawing video and for the sawdust snowstorm at the end! Hope you all have a great week!
Beautiful piece if oak indeed. It is nice to see you guys treat these trees with so much care and respect and get the best out of them. Keep the good job!
Beautiful wood. For that matter, all wood is beautiful in its own individual way. This red oak is indeed a special tree. We should be grateful for the gift that it is.
If I were setting up a new retail shop, I'd be wanting some of that lovely red oak for the counter top, polished and presented by a professional. What a draw-card!
Lovely superb Nice sawing of red oak and the grain of red oak was really very good and it's very good for furniture, after polishing the grain will be looking more beautiful and better.
It looks to me like these local mills like yours would have all sorts of small leftover pieces of hardwood for sale. I can make excellent use of some of those cherry, oak, hickory and ash cutoffs making telescopes. Closed grain hardwoods make great tripods and pole blocks that will not break. I even made a tube for a small telescope out of cherry, and that makes very nice boxes to keep your eyepieces in as well.
Hi guys. The best show so far as this red oak is spectacular Weldon Mark and Eddie Thank for the commentary you kept me glued to the cell phone Regards Tony
What kerf does that blade lose? Use to have a Stenner VBQ 60 rack bandsaw with a 72" throat with 9" deep bands on the 60" wheels, lovely noise as it cut and it used so little power even when cutting a slab 48" deep. You never forget the smell on newly sawn timber, its simply amazing.
Congratulations on all the new subs because they must want to know about bus motor-isms and that was a SWEET log. My ears were wiggling, listening to the bus motor in that butt cut when you hollered if I was listening and I sure WAS! Any time I can catch a quiver out of that 2-cycle I'll be right there and one man running a mill is IT! Every time I was doing hook work for a small outfit I'd tell them before we started that I would watch only ONE man for signals and for the crew to make up their mind who it'd be. We all lived through it as far as II know. 4 inches of heavy fog since last evening. Happy week and GBWYall!
I'm new to this channel but I really enjoyed watching the process of cutting that beautiful Red Oak. I built my own sawmill a few years ago but it's a bandsaw mill and it don't really have the bell's and whistles like this one does but it's pretty darn true with the cuts of lumber. God bless from Northeast Alabama
Interesting how the old guys are still out there doing the heavy work. I had a need for laborers this last week. The young guys swore they would be there but the only guys that made it were two old guys. But hey! We knocked it out. Same problem next week. Old guys rule!

I love the wood green when you're cutting the log that's mostly what I tune in for to see the different greens of wood which ones have modified growth patterns and which ones are natural this is a great show thank you
We had a carriage from Japan . It had a simple system of backing the whole carriage back away from the cut line by 10mm(3/8 the of an inch ) on the return cut . The back set could be locked out in case of a jammed saw . No teeth getting dull by rubbing on the return trip , no sawdust flying everywhere ..Maybe something to look into . It never used the artworks for the pullback ,the carriage frame, bunks and all moved away from the saw.
HEY you guys!!! Got me some Hisea boots! Love 'em. First work boots I bought in . . . 15 years or so. (retired '09) Thanks for the tip. Been subbed a couple, 3,4, years? Dunno. Great videos, and you turned me on to fricknjeep! Thanks again. Retired Laborer (40yrs)

2X8 8ft Red Oak $168.99 ea. At Home Depot! I've been building Custom Cabinets an Furniture for 27yrs, drives me crazy to see this going on a trailer deck. Hahaha
Definitely like Mr. Heed's slide pickin, and don't it make you wanna cry whackin that piece of oak up to rot away as a trailer bed There's no telling the abuse it'll take before it's work is done, and it is finally turned back into the soil it originated from
Mark, Whilst watching the intro to this video, and by the way well done for picking up another 900 followers this week. I did notice however that it would appear that a little housekeeping is required, judging by the amount of scrap material laying about under the gravity rollers and the parts of the machinery. As you mention your son is a firefighter, I'm sure he would be advising a clean up around the machinery.. Remembering, A tidy workspace is a safe workspace. Stay safe. Regards Robin.
Good to see you mark good to see you mister Eddie good to see you is ZZ mark that started out being some beautiful lover all that no knots beautiful grain then it got just a little ugly but that was a good log overall and Mark I consider you the captain of the ship or the general of the army keep up the good work I really just wanted to hear you say that y'all be good God bless all of you and continue the good work
My wife came into my office and asked what I was watching? "I'm watching a man sawing a log." When she asked me what was interesting about it? my answer was, "I don't know...but it is!" She left shaking her head.
trailer decking! That should be furniture in a mansion, or my house. I have a red oak bench over 50 years old and it still looks new. BTW, a 8' 1x6 red oak board at Home Depot is $40. So by my calculations this trailer deck is worth $2 million.😁
What a beauty! When sawing decking for trailers, is there a preference of red vs white oak? Seems like white oak would hold up better over time or am I wrong?
Nice piece of wood. Would've made some great furniture. Sawdust cam! - you sure can tell when you're cutting :) How fast does the dust shed fill up, and what is done with the sawdust?
