- A new Commander deck idea that uses Kumena for his combo potential. We want to take advantage of Paradox engine and Intruder alarm so that we get a ton of card draw. Feel free to leave any suggestions in the comment section. If you enjoyed this video please like and share it.

I was already planning on building kumena. This video just inspired me to go through with it. I like the explanation for each card and its synergy with others. Reminds me of Jumbo Commander. Keep up the good work!
This deck looks pretty insane and a lot of fun!
Very sweet deck tech, gave me ideas for when I decide to build him, so for that I thank you good sir.
Glad I could help!
A great sorcery in this would be harvest season
The merfolk tutor at 15:30 puts them into play
Tyubirocks1 trur
U may also like Awakening for the deck. Untaps everybody’s land and creatures on each upkeep. Which also triggers on your upkeep, giving u 2 untaps on your turn.
I initially wanted to build Kumena for Duel Commander but felt that he might be too slow to keep up with other fast Aggro decks in the format. So I looked into other Commanders such as Rakka Mar and Nemata, Grove Guardian for a token swarm strategy with Nemata also being too slow due to his casting cost.
subbed just because of this
also because your GREAT
I'm pretty sure buffs from the merfolk lords wouldn't remove negative counters. It has to be positive counters to remove the negative counters if I'm not mistaken.
No but they can keep stuff alive long enough to plus up with kumena
FYI The unblockable voltron option in SImic is Kaseto, Orochi Archmage. His ability isn't reliant on having any other creatures.
I have a had some sad times against that guy, super annoying.
I will build a foil merfolk deck for my daugther! Cant wait to tap/untap/tap/untap/tap/untap...
I went tribal and have some mana rocks and dramatic reversal on the isochron scepter. infinite mana and infinitely massive creatures
So cards from explorers of ixalan is legal for commander? Like merfolk sovereign
Yes
no stormtide leviathan?
quicksilver fountain is always fun
it was in mine but i took it out. it caused me to be targeted by everybody with attacks, etc. it is good in the deck though, although it hurts your green mana lands
@commander void in case you didn’t know paradox engine is banned in commander
no more token makers
PIllar of Origins is a terrible card in any deck with access to green and you would be served far better by Sapphire Medallion. Pillar mana can only be used for merfolk, whereas Sapphire will discount a majority of your deck. You're in green, so if you want to dedicate that slot to ramp, I'd suggest cultivate/kodama's reach. However, the option I favor the most, since your curve is quite low anyway, would be a sword of x and y or other equipment that could turn any of your unblockables into something to be feared.
Vorel is also pretty bad, even Edric would be more in keeping with what you want to do. But if you want to be interesting, I recommend Quicksilver Fountain. One round ensures that every player has an island for you to walk over, and even if it's destroyed those lands remain islands. It's second ability is unlikely to trigger unless everybody stops playing lands, and the effect overwrites a lands abilities, a la Blood Moon, so even if you don't hit something too valuable, you can still try to hurt their access to color.
i was so excited to make a kumena deck, but everyone and their dog is playing it.
This fucker is so broken. I've played with him in prototype deck with 160 cards and he still kicks ass. It starts feeling like a combo deck with ways to untap permanents because then you play cards as fast as you draw them. Also I basically never used the first ability.
