Nice work! Just replaced air filter base on my mower- B and S instructions that came with it specify 45 lb-in for the three 8mm bolts that hold it to carb. Got to be tight enough to seal, but not distort the air passage so primer won’t work. Hope this info helps.

Very helpful procedural step by step video, but when I'm in there I always like to clean up the area as I work on it. Putting old dirty parts back on to a new carb without at least cleaning them up is kind of gross, i.e. a new gasket on a disgusting air filter cover. Just my preference. Also helpful if you mention tools needed and correct socket sizes as you go: 8mm or 5/16 for filter cover, 3/8 for the carb, needle nose pliers for the fuel line clamps, etc.
I totally agree, I can’t stand putting dirty parts back on a mower. I usually will pressure wash the engine before I work on it
For the life of me, i can't seem to "dial in" the main mix and idle mix screws on mowers! I'm new to small engines, i took on all the junk from friends and family just to mess with them. Sometimes i can get them to run for a second or two, then they die. I looked far and wide on youtube to find a video about how to "dial a carb in" with no luck.. there must be a super simple and easy way that im just not getting.. advice / video suggestion?
The four stroke carbs on these mowers do not have adjustment screws. The only one maybe an idle screw. Maybe you are workin on a two stroke carb? If so check out this video.

Never use a torque wrench on 8mm bolts but an impact driver is great? 🤣.

You left one of the 5\16 bolts out of the Primer plate.

what happens if that nipple for the carb O ring is busted?

Nipple for the carb oring? I think you are referring to the float needle but not sure
Beside the o ring and other gasket my kit came with two other gaskets that look like they go around that o ring area as well as a rubber seal of the same shape. They are basically ovals that are bigger in the center. They fit over that o ring and the screw holes on each side of it. The old one doesn’t have those three things on it. Do I need those other gaskets and seal? My mower is the same one in this video.
I have no idea. Just take it apart and replace the old gaskets with ones that look like them in the kit. Good luck

Yo brotha. You need to check the shear key in the flywheel. It’s out of timing possibly.
Next time, that thing pissed me off and ended up tossed in my scrap pile
I have the same craftsman but the carb doesnt choke when it starts any ideas
Check the choke linkages
i did all this and still having issues. It won't start, after a few tries it will start. If i leave it long enough and try it may start. It's not consistent. I put new gas, filter, spark plug. Not sure what else to try.
Check the compression she maybe shot

Haha you are welcome, I didn’t want to post this video cause I kept failing but the wife insisted. These mower motors eventually do wear out.

Do you have a part number on the carb?
I never was able to really test it since the mower didn’t actually start. I suggest just looking on the Amazon and fine one. They are a crap shoot now whether or not they work.
