I rather like a lecture he presented at the KCOBA Lecture Series he said a new name should be give to the so-called dance hall of today...not Reggae. Dennis continue doing what you do - taking the music to the intellectual highest.

I totally enjoyed the interview from the famous badman dem up and beyond our own music, and telling it like it is! I remember when I first heard Rdddigan on Barry G 2-to-6 super mix! I left my jod and rode the train to Mo-Bay just to hear more Gregory Issacs Private Beach Party, Dennis Brown Olld Man River, Tetrack, just to name a few! Mad mad memories! I don't think you mentioned Cicille Wilson, but any time that librarian was selecting, nothing else could get my attention! Reaspect to the max!💯💯💯🇯🇲

I finally managed to listen to this very important interview this morning, and it was much more than I expected, because many times we know people for one thing without knowing how multi-talented they are. It was great to hear all those names, especially the radio personalities, again.
As a teenager, I used to write down the weekly JBC Top 20 or 30 music charts in an exercise book (which I regretfully lost along the way) from around 1979 to 1982. At the end of each year, I would calculate my top 100 and match against JBC's top 100 and the positions would be very close.
Following the weekly charts with Barry G allowed me to be familiar with the record labels, producers, artistes and names of the songs and albums. So I understood Dennis Howard's passion when he was working in the JBC library and consuming all that information about the records.
I always tell people that I was exposed to many kinds of music growing up in Jamaica. One type of music that was not mentioned in the interview was Classical music instrumentals, that I remember used to be played on Sundays on the radio.
Many great things were spoken about in the interview, but a topic that I would've loved to have heard Dr. Howard's views on is a fire that I heard destroyed archive records at JBC around the 1990s. Was there really such a fire? If yes, what records were destroyed and the impact that had on Jamaica's culture, especially music and films, including television shows like Ring Ding.

Look who's make the money from the music. This is the reason why 90s music is so great and can never stop pull up dance. Today creativity needs proper guidance the direction it's now going in is NEGATIVE/DOWN.
Not saying there isn't a few that doing the right but guess what they're not getting the promotion. It's crap that's now being promoted not up lifting unprogresssive waste.

I suggest these youth making music now, have discussions with people like Dennis, Mikey Bennett and the like as we are losing the knowledge of the foundational aspects of the music. They are having some financial success but imagine if these youth really knew what they were doing. BIG UP TEACH FOR THIS ONE AND BIG UP DENNIS, MI REAL GENERAL.
