    I don't normally like to have a lot grown out product on myself, but am I the only one that gets excited to see if there's no lifting or chipping when there's growth??? 😂🤗💅

    Great tips, especially getting a new file to decrease work time.
    I wanted to briefly mention the grip thing. I’m an occupational therapist (maybe called a physiotherapist in Sweden) and I would encourage actually using a different grip from your dominant hand when polishing with your non dominant hand. The tripod or quad grip like you use on a pencil was developed from repeated motor practice as a child and your muscles fine tuned your control over years. Your non dominant hand hasn’t had that luxury, so it needs to stabilize itself more. You can see when you are using your non dominant hand you’re holding it with four fingers opposed to your thumb, not exactly mirrored to your right hand which uses a tripod grasp. This is because you need to stabilize more joints in your hand and you’ve done this intuitively by gripping it differently. If you try to use the same grasp it won’t be as stable, so experiment with what feels right but don’t worry too much about a perfect grip, focus more on what is allowing you to be flexible yet stable when using your non dominant hand. You can additionally stabilize more joints such as your wrist and elbow by resting it on the table or a slightly elevated surface as you work, just as you did in the video. Like building a tower, the more secure the lower levels are, the more stable the top will be. Think of the joints in your arm as each block and the top as your brush.
    I hope that helps thinking about positioning yourself when doing your non dominant hand. Also do it first because it’s more fatiguing. Let your dominant hand do a lot of the work and keep your non dominant hand static. The breathing tip is excellent too!

    I started doing my own nails because i found you on CZcams about 2 yrs ago. I never did gel before or had gel nails. I watched all your videos , even collabs. I watched your vlogs too. I do really good now and actually do better with my non-dominant hand , even with my e-file. This video is perfectly explained 👌

    My nail teacher when i went for my nail tech course, said her biggest tip for doin nails on yourself with your non-dominant hand was to do your dominant hand FIRST, when you are doing your set. Then do your non-dominant hand last because your dominant hand is usually faster at doing nails and more coordinated..

    I got a left handed bit just to work on myself! It's been such a life saver for doing my dominant hand.

    Wayyy back in the day, (1999) my nail instructor told us "IF you can do your own nails, ypu CAN do anyone's! Its something we practiced daily, but that was only with acrylics, then fiberglass nails!I hate fiberglass! But love LE. FIBER GELS!

    These are ACTUALLY helpful tips! Most of the videos I see about this topic just say "practice" and I understand that that's important but I knew there had to be more! Thanks soo much for this! 💕

  • @inprogress36
    @inprogress36 Před 3 lety +1

    Breathing out, gotta try that, so simple but I find myself holding my breath! I am totally the 3 year old grip, so copying the dominant hand instead of trying to reinvent the task, I need to practice that. Maybe I'll actually do my own nails more often!! Super great tips here Celina. Thank you so much!

    I wish there were more tutorials with doing non dominant hand… like how to build with forms etc… love your content!

  • @panajotov
    @panajotov Před 2 lety

    Celina has helped me so much to get the courage and do gel/gel polish properly on my nails. They last forever, and I couldn't be more grateful.
    I don't use forms, because my nails are pretty OK, plus I usually have short to medium length. One thing I've noticed is that prep is always more difficult for me with my non-dominant hand, but the final result is much better than the nails done with my dominant hand! So, there are times when I need to copy what I do with my left hand, and be more gentle and slower. :D

BTW: After your live video a while back, I was FINALLY able to master the dreaded baby boomer and now I literally crave doing it as much as possible. We call them reading glasses. This is a great video. I have such a difficult time with my left hand. I do make sure to do my dominant hand first because it's harder for me to do it if I have nails on my non dominant hand. Im not sure why, but it is

    •  Před 3 lety

      I actually looked it up after the video and apparently you call it "screen glasses". We also got reading glasses but it's different from the "screen glasses". :)

    Doing my left hand is the bane of my existence! Also I just noticed that you literally have only 1-2 adds in a 30 minute video. Girl, get that money, I definitely think you should put more ads in if it will help you out financially.

    love this video! will you ever go back to your longer nails?

    •  Před 3 lety +1

      Well I actually had to make a longer nail on my left index finger for a video and I have been wearing it for about a month now... but it was kind of in the way when I was editing or working on my computer so I don’t think I’ll go back as long as my main work time is on the computer 😉😉 But you never know what happens, I’m open to changing my mind in the future 😎

    If your able to do it safely why does it matter how you hold your tools? I have tried to copy how I use my dominate hand and I actually hurt myself so now I hold my tools to what feels comfortable and safe for me. As for using your pinky for support when filing, you should also try to use it when painting your nails as well, helps a lot when your shaky lol

  • @johanne1111
    @johanne1111 Před 3 lety

    You’re videos are always so helpful! What speed do you use on your e-file when you do your non-dominant hand? Do you do it at the same speed as your dominant hand? I always slow it down when I do my non-dominant hand. 🥴😍

    •  Před 3 lety

      J Richard Same, because if you are using a carbide bit then the higher speed you have the easier it is to work with. If you slow it down it will start to “grab on” to the nail and “bump” off it as well.

    • @johanne1111
      @johanne1111 Před 3 lety

      Celina Rydén Right and thank you for confirming what I guess I already knew but was secretly hoping there was another way! I’m just so nervous at a high speed. I barely breathe when I’m working on a nail! 😂

      LE is for professionals only. That’s why you can’t purchase it. There’s definitely gels that you don’t need a license for though! You can buy some on daily charm or amazon for or maybe go to a Sally’s.
