    Great episode, im looking forward to seeing the next episode about the different primers and the paint booth episode as i will be respraying my lx torana bonnet in the near future, im just saving up for a compressor at the moment. Do you have any recommendations on what compressor to buy for my shed? Kind regards John.

      Should be at least 12 cfm. More even better, if you can stretch the hip pocket a bit further. I have a 12 cfm Pilot Compresser, and its a great unit. They are strong units.

      Thanks for watching the episode mate . i have the Chicago Air Hush 100. this compressor "Chicago Air" is the biggest you can run on 240v without tripping the meter box. its ran all my air tools and spray guns perfectly for 4 years now . i recently painted 4 20ft caravans with it too! no issues waiting for air to build up or waiting around. is a awesome unit . they are currently $1300 from Sydney tools

      @BogDustForBreakfast thanks for the quick reply, i tried finding your compressor recommendation from one of your recent episodes that I watched but I couldn't find it. Thanks for the recommendation, i will be definitely looking into that unit, it will be my early Xmas present to myself.

      Hi mate. How’s the the Prem coming along. got on to Daniel from central paint supplies. I’ve ordered the initiation kit, some paper and a gap tool. Thanks for that. Should get me through. I’ve just put 4 coats of hi build on a couple of doors I had ready. Is cure time the same as an epoxy. Tds says dry in 16 hrs @ 20 degrees. Can I sand it after that time? Cheers

      @@crazydave7375 masking the prem for paint as I write actually . Paint tomorrow . Looking the goods . Generally epoxy takes longer to cure than high build . Most high build primers can be sanded the next day or in your case 16 hours later . Good to hear you spoke to Daniel I hope he gave you a discount lol

    OK questions you say 🤔, ok will you at some time be spraying a car that's been pulled apart so all the panels and doors off, as I'd like to know how you spray door hinges (do you pull them apart too) especially when you do different colours like a silver base then a color over top, to keep the same blend on all panels, do you spray all on the inside of the panels then put them back on car then do closed door spray???, keep great work up. 👍

    • @BogDustForBreakfast
      @BogDustForBreakfast  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Hi Jas, so this HZ will be painted all apart and as for the hinges i generally leave them on the body as this makes fitting and aligning panels a lot easier . however depending on the job i may remove everything and paint all the door jambs properly then fit hinges then bolt everything up to paint the outside . i mainly do that on full restorations which ive taken everything right back to bare metal. as for colors which require a silver base like a candy , ill paint the insides of the doors , insides of guards , door jambs, boot jambs engine bay, inside of bonnet and boot etc first then bolt the panels on and gap the car again. older cars require more time spent aligning panels due to how much adjustment they have compared with newer cars. then paint the whole outside complete as this eliminates any variations of color over the car . in saying that ive painted many 46V crystal soul red Mazda's when the car has been apart . typically those colors have candy mixed in with clear which makes it a lot easier to blend a candy down a panel. as for full resprays with everything apart in a candy like 46V providing you spray the same way there shouldn't be any differences down the car . for a professional its a walk in the park but for a beginner or someone less experienced i also recommend painting insides first then the outside complete. hope that answers your question

      Thank you for your detailed reply, I completely understand, I'm doing mine in a candy but it'd something I don't think I'll tackle myself, so I'll have to save my pennies and have someone such as yourself to probably tackle it, loving the videos, cheers 🍻

    I'm doing some HQ panels too, and those reverse curves in the banana lines can give a lot grief apparently. So what tips can you give. Is it better to have all panels assembled on the car? Blocking down the guards separately is not the way to go? Some tips would be appreciated.

    • @BogDustForBreakfast
      @BogDustForBreakfast  Před 8 měsíci

      They can defiantly be a mission to get perfect , one of the biggest issues is when looking for examples on other cars they seem to all be completely different! If the panels are in reasonable condition that makes it a lot easier to get a nice shape. Issue is a lot of them aren’t which makes it difficult . My best tip is to have all panels on the car . Get all the gaps in and out and left to right 99% then use filler to finish the rest. Source some stencils which gives you a great guide . I wanted to make copies of the ones I have but unsure what the best way to do it . Then send them out to people who want them . I may just trace them on paper and use masking tape over the top to make them more durable.
      Blocking panels off the car is not the best way to go . You will run into issues like I had on this HZ . Gap everything first then start repairs . Although it’s more difficult to block them you will get a far nicer job

      @@BogDustForBreakfast Thanks for the info. The panel fit of these old girls wasn't spectacular, so I see the logic in having the car fully assembled. Its not as easy bending down low now at 55, better when I was 25! That vacuum attachment looks like a definite must have. Will be adding it to my shopping list. From Sydney, thanks so much. Enjoying your content.
