Our first Basset (Homer, 1989) was Dean's tri-color twin. When our daughter (now 35) was in 1st grade and had to write about her pet, she wrote that she had a "Sleep Dog". The teacher kindly corrected her and said "Sweetie, that's 'Sheep' Dog" and showed her a picture of an English Sheep Dog. Our daughter went to her backpack that had a keychain with Homer's picture to show the teacher and corrected her... "No, he's a SLEEP dog!" Long succession of sons and new sisters since... colors and sexes have change, but they are all still "Sleep Dogs".

I am thoroughly envious of Dean.
Well it's Winter here, but Rosco has been both snoozing and as usual getting up to mischief (the way of the basset). Also, he seems to have an aversion to being filmed as the moment I pick up the phone to capture him he stops what he is doing and just looks at me. I even tried to catch him snoring like a lumberjack the other day and the moment the camera was on him, he stopped snoring...
I was getting worried about dean, but I’m grateful that he’s ok.

Oh, Dean, ¿cómo no amarte (y al mismo tiempo envidiarte)? Me recuerda mucho a Frodo, mi basset que ya partió hace casi 4 años. Son una raza desesperante y adorable también. A mis otros orejones también piden ayuda para subir a un lugar, cuando ya no pueden, a comer trocitos de algún bocado semi-dormidos... ¡son tan Dean!
