He loved him, and he was proud of him, and he looked forward to watching him grow, both as a chef and as a person. The accident was two weeks later.

Sure, the mustache falling off might seem like a comical gag at first, but looking at it from a more analytical angle makes it much more tragic. Perhaps the mustache falling off represents the emotional state of Pepperoni Pete at this point in the "Fallen Slice" arc. The more Pete let's the grief for his deceased brother consume him, the more he loses his old, pizza pie loving self. It's tragic and beautiful.
So my personal theory on why the main character's mustache falls off during this fight is because it's a fake mustache, it's something he uses to project a more mature appearance to everyone he meets, not just to get respect but to emulate his brother and his mature nature. It falling off his face is meant to symbolize the false persona he's built for himself starting to (or continuing depending on your perspective on the timeline) fail as the people around him begin to see through his act. That's why when he grows his own mustache in the final arc it symbolizes his growth as a person and becoming the kind of person his brother wanted him to be.
I agree with your take, but I believe Pizza Bro Jr realized his independence. He took the steps to be the person that he wanted to be, and, as a result, grew beyond the expectations he set on himself and his older brother's shadow.
The silence at the end of the dialogue was just perfection, and even though you saw the goofy song coming it still just killed. ProZD's timing on things is just so good.
Granted he’s a professional actor, but I love that he puts so much effort into these dramatic scenes even though it’s just going to be subverted by a joke. It could be just good enough to make the joke work but he goes all in.
I can't believe Slice of Life went this hard in the third season, I was so worried the creators lost the original artistic direction when they abruptly changed the theme song in-between the second and third season, but if you think about it it's actually quite symbolic of the main character wanting to embrace the childish spirit his brother so brightly held, but he's too scared to be vulnerable again.
I'm way more invested in the Pizza Bros Anime than I should be. The idea of two Brothers opening a pizzeria to fulfill their dreams only for one of them to die and leaving the other so distressed that he vows to never make pizza again is strangely compelling. Especially since I'm imagining that plot twist to come out of nowhere and completely taking us the audience by surprise just like it does the characters. Also I unironically love how you kept acting despite the moustache falling off. Fantastic performance
Exactly! The antagonist is actually the 'dead' brother who faked his own death because he felt like he was not getting the respect he deserved and was living in the shadow of his brother. How else would you explain the antagonist knowing the weakness of each and every recipe his brother threw at him in the Cook-Off season 1 finale episode?
The moustache, the only thing left of his brother after the oven accident, is a symbol of the protagonist's wish to keep his dead brothers' legacy alive. It falling, more importantly the protagonists inattention to it falling, demonstrates how anger and guilt have slowly taken the place of his love for his brother and how his self punishment is leading him to push all of the good things in his life away. Deep stuff.

The only manga I ever read entirely from start to finish *(yay for stories that are self contained and end eventually)* was called Kitchen Princess, and it was about a little girl who was an amazing chef and her friendship with two brothers, one of whom died, so safe to say regardless of the underlying joke this video kind of gave me a little deja vu.

I was thinking more plot twist that Diana used to be his brother girl friend but keeping it a secret that's why she's concerned about the younger brother.
Diana will come back, she needs this job too..not for the money or the fame, but because she needs to prove to herself she can do this. We still don't know Diana 's backstory, but in the manga...oh boy.

I much prefer the season 1 opening “Toketa Inochi no Kakera,” (roughly translated to “Slice of Melted Life”). It was completely original and a lot of time and care was put into it (not to mention the animation was stunning). With that being said, I was really disappointed when they gave into the memes and used “Sore ga amōre,” as the opening and “Pizataimu” as the ending. It was at that point it became clear that the company only cared about the ratings and NOT John Manga’s original story.

If anything, I’d blame John Government for making laws that censored a lot of stuff in the anime that had parallels to real-world politics. It falling off his face is meant to symbolize the false persona he's built for himself starting to (or continuing depending on your perspective on the timeline) fail as the people around him begin to see through his act. That's why when he grows his own mustache in the final arc it symbolizes his growth as a person and becoming the kind of person his brother wanted him to be.

I can't believe Slice of Life went this hard in the third season, I was so worried the creators lost the original artistic direction when they abruptly changed the theme song in-between the second and third season, but if you think about it it's actually quite symbolic of the main character wanting to embrace the childish spirit his brother so brightly held, but he's too scared to be vulnerable again.

I'm way more invested in the Pizza Bros Anime than I should be. The idea of two Brothers opening a pizzeria to fulfill their dreams only for one of them to die and leaving the other so distressed that he vows to never make pizza again is strangely compelling. Especially since I'm imagining that plot twist to come out of nowhere and completely taking us the audience by surprise just like it does the characters.

The moustache, the only thing left of his brother after the oven accident, is a symbol of the protagonist's wish to keep his dead brothers' legacy alive. It falling, more importantly the protagonists inattention to it falling, demonstrates how anger and guilt have slowly taken the place of his love for his brother and how his self punishment is leading him to push all of the good things in his life away. Deep stuff.

The only manga I ever read entirely from start to finish *(yay for stories that are self contained and end eventually)* was called Kitchen Princess, and it was about a little girl who was an amazing chef and her friendship with two brothers, one of whom died, so safe to say regardless of the underlying joke this video kind of gave me a little deja vu.

Diana is the girl that everyone thinks is going to fall in love with the chef, right up until this scene when we all realize that there’s just no way they can make it work.
I was thinking more plot twist that Diana used to be his brother girl friend but keeping it a secret that's why she's concerned about the younger brother.

I much prefer the season 1 opening “Toketa Inochi no Kakera,” (roughly translated to “Slice of Melted Life”). It was completely original and a lot of time and care was put into it (not to mention the animation was stunning).
With that being said, I was really disappointed when they gave into the memes and used “Sore ga amōre,” as the opening and “Pizataimu” as the ending. It was at that point it became clear that the company only cared about the ratings and NOT John Manga’s original story.
Such an apt reply. Truly worthy of the artistry evident in every episode. The sub is so much richer than this dubbed cut though.
