The Maestro absolutely seems to be a competitor to the MPD, and in my opinion beats it in every way. Lowering is smoother, and you can put a string on the handle and control a lower from a distance. And for 250$ less than the MPD, its a clear winner.

    Hello friends.
You will definitely enjoy playing with the CLUTCH believe me. As you know, CMC got the G11 rope which is rated NFPA"G" and that is the reason why the CLUTCH was rated NFPA "G" Besides there is also the Tech 11 from sterling and now PMI got another "G" rated 11mm rope. The tendency to transitioning to smaller diameter ropes, and reducing weight and packaging space is growing.
On the other hand when you try doing a personal descend with a Maestro you will probably encounter the same situation you mentioned with the ID Evac, The Control handle positioning. Maybe that is why the Maestro only shows Load Control descent and hauling techniques in their documentation. So far haven´t seen Petzl documentation showing it.
I think Maestro was built to compete against MPD more than against CLUTCH. But then again. Maestro for Lowering, Hauling and Belaying and only "T" rated in their "S" version while you have Load lowering, Hauling, Belaying and Personal Descent on the CLUTCH 11mm and everything with capability of holding 272kg loads without the need of redirecting the rope through a carabiner or now new tendency using two rescuers and using a Munter Hitch on the friction carabiner for adding friction.
Last but not Least. CLUTCH for for 12.5mm Ropes is about to be out on the market
So only I can say is : Enjoy the CLUTCH!!!
    Stay safe!!!

Can you update this video, and do a direct comparison of Petzl Maestro vs CMC Clutch?

Looking forward to seeing the pros and cons to each...I have the old school i'D and it's useful, but I like having more control over my descent speed. Sometimes you have to get down quick and this descender just wont let me do that. The panic feature kicks in too quickly before you can get any speed going. I like that it locks if I let go, but dont like that it locks up once I get going where I need it to. I'm still looking for that perfect descender for tactical use, that can double as rescue as well.

I did a video a while back about the use of the Rig in a Tactical scenario. It actually works really well. Have a look at the video if you like.

Great idea for a video, but would have rathered to have seen the demonstration of different pros and cons in rigging set-ups as opposed to a podcast style discussion - probably not a "showdown" but more accurately a "talkdown"

Why filmed so far away? Can't see what you are talking about. A waste of potentially helpful info.
