    this video is more about the tools he fabricated to do the rebuild than the actual rebuild. an actual rebuild video of this particular gear box would of been great.

    I had a similar issue with a 95 Pathfinder steering gear box. I ended up drilling a couple holes into the lock ring for the more readily available Face Spanner Wrenches.

    There is a tool premade for autos if some one wanted to buy it. Go to a auto parts store and look for either a tie rod tool (with four pins) or some 4 wheel drives use a similar wrench. Either of those will allow some one to use either a impact wrench or a regular ratchet to unwind the retaining collar.

    it has 2 rings cause 1 its a regular oring, and the other one its a Teflon seal

    My guess is that he did not need the fabricated pipe tool if he would have backed out the set screw first then used his screw driver to back the nut out.

    How many ball bearings did you have? I'm currently trying to rebuild the same box. Also, how do we take the worm gear stem out of the housing?

      MobileProductions21 thanks for the reply back .. I wish I could reuse my old one but the bearing cage/race is cracked and can not use it as it is .. well I'll keep looking
