You made an excellent choice by taking that one-week course. I've sailed many thousands of miles on my own boats and made many deliveries, and I love it! Before you jump into buying a boat, I suggest that you crew on some boats to really get a feel for cruising and living aboard.
Anna. I am enjoying your search for a new challenge, and sailing catches my interest. I have never sailed and yet I have lived vicariously through just about every single handed sailing of the world, with fascination. It became a choice. Sailing...or my other passion which was flying. I chose the latter....built an airplane and flew it for 34 years. The adventures were just the most amazing. I guess most of us can't live every dream we have wanted to, but at least to dream, and to realize some of those dreams leads to the most amazing lifetime experiences. My hat is off to you. Continue to dream, and I wish you as much fun in following that dream as I have had in my airplane. Now, I have just finished converting a camper van and a new adventure at 83 begins. Ain't life good?!
I just knew you were going to fall in love with sailing, Anna. I've watched enough of your videos to know that the sea was yours to conquer, and you accomplished it with ease. Looking forward to seeing you shop for your future floating palace.
This is so awesome!! Congratulations on passing all your courses, and on your new love of sailing! How exciting. It will all fall into place at the exact right time, just like your van did. I'm so excited for your new adventure!
CONGRATS on your passing!! Can't wait to see where you go on your sailboat adventures! This looks like so much fun, might have to try it out some day but for now I'm happy in my van hehe🌞💖🚐
WOW!!!!! I literally got choked up with joy for you when u went over all the certifications you passed. You’re a FREAKING SAILOR Girl!!!! 💪🏼💪🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼👍🏻👊🏽
Congrats for stepping up to the challenge(s), AND congrats for passing! Enjoy the memories and all the hopes & dreams that follow. Sail on.... even if its only on land!
Great job Anna!!! I knew you'd do it. Now we'll follow you on the narrow water passages, and the big open water, whenever it happens. Congrats! Drive safe/sail safe!
Congratulations!! I knew you could do it! And I’m thrilled you fell in love. I loved it too. It’s not the type of love that drives the purchase of a boat, but any chance I get, I’m there even if only on a lake. A suggestion? Once you whittle your way down the over long list, try finding owners of that brand and model. They might let you tour and try their boat for a supervised sail. That could really help you out. Did you discover the channel GoneWithTheWynns yet? They shifted their travel bug to a sailing style too a few years ago. If you haven’t found them yet, you should. I’m glued every week. Congratulations again!! 💗
Omg Anna! This is an amazing new adventure! I feel very grateful that you share your experiences with us! Good luck on this new journey! How absolutely thrilling!
Bravo Anna. Having 'been there and done that' in so may ports and places around Puget Sound, seeing it through your eyes makes it all the more special. The inside passage to Alaska is an adventure you will enjoy when you are ready for it.
This is AWESOME Anna! I love sailing and doing this 5 days course etc is such a great idea. You should get a boat! I'm so looking forward to your future adventures. And your location...such an amazing place.
What a great experience. To see your thirst for knowledge, how you tackle a challenge, and your excitement upon conquering…. is so satisfying. You put it all out there. Butterflies at the thought of failure, yes. But how you continue to grow with self-understanding is amazing to watch.
Great video Anna, I only just came across your channel. Once you get the sailing bug, it’s hard to let go. Keep the very informative and entertaining videos coming!
This is so inspiring Anna! I am so excited to see this journey unfold for you. I took some sailing lessons in basically a 5 foot rectangle bathtub 😂when I was 10 and 17 years later I'm sure nothing has stuck with me haha. I've also dreamt of what living on a sailboat would look like, but it definitely is not for the faint of heart, which is why I am so stoked to see you pursue this dream! Get it girl!
So cool to see you so inspired to do this! Even your face looks different, really serene and inspired. Wishing you all the best, the inspiration is contagious in other ways. Thank you 🏔😀
👏 👏 👏 so happy for you! My family had a 30ft hunter. Fair amount of living space and the deck was fairly easy to get around. I'm not a pro on the boat but my dad loved every moment he was on it.
How exciting 😀 You are amazing and the world is your play ground. I wish you all the best and I look forward to watch where this new journey takes you ! God bless
Love that you are interested in sailing and congrats on doing so well in your sailing courses. I particularly liked the feeling that you were trying to express waking up that morning, unless you have lived on boats and experienced those mornings it's hard to describe. It is really important to perhaps live aboard a vessel for a while or even go travelling with someone else on their boat, experiencing day to day life and some open ocean sailing where the conditions can be a lot more varied (tagging along on an international delivery or even just looking out for people who are looking for company while they go on 3-6-week trips are good options). It's also important to go into buying a boat with the expectation that sailing is basically fixing things constantly in beautiful locations and you should allocate at least 10% of the boats value to upkeep every year with older vessels. It might not always cost that much but it's an important thing to consider. If you're really ready to start searching for a vessel though, you should look at BVI (British Virgin Islands) as there are a lot of really affordable and well fitted out boats constantly coming up for sale there that are often fitted out for ocean cruising, saving you a lot on modifications before you will be able to sail internationally (if that's a long-term goal). You mentioned shorter boats which are good for coastal cruising but are a lot more uncomfortable in open oceans compared to 40-44ft boats which are the ideal size for solo travelling, before buying a boat really think if you only want to sail it around the USA or going abroad is something that you could envision, as buying and selling boats can take 6-12 months if you really want to find specific things. Hunter is a good live aboard for coastal cruising which can handle most conditions and have ample storage, if you prefer more ocean-going vessels Jeanneau, Beneteau, Catalina and Bavaria are my personal favorites, they also make coastal cruisers, but quality comes at cost also.
You had a great time and loved sailing offshore ! So nice. You were blessed with very nice weather and 'set-costs'. It's different with uncomfortable weather and knowing you MUST bear all the costs. Go for it !
Go Anna! Yep, the call of the Sea has you now! :) CONGRATS and thanks so much for sharing! May get to see more of yo out here in PNWest too:) ALL THE BEST and Cheers! :)
11:54 breathtaking. Anna! I’m following my dreams. I sell my home tomorrow to travel. Solo female van life here I come ❤️❤️ Congrats on passing!! I’m so happy you’re out there following your dreams!!!
I absolutely love your sense of learning and adventure… I love boats and I’m about to take the free ASA course to start. AND I JUST BECAME A PATRON! Really, you’ve grown a lot on this channel and you inspire me to take the leaps and lead a bigger, more adventurous life. Thank you for being you ❤❤❤
Anna! I'm not sure how I stumbled on your channel, but I'm a fan now! I also lived in a van for a year, and now I'm figuring out how to buy a sailboat and learning to sail by crewing on a different boats. I hope someday cross paths into each with our badass tiny homes on water! 🙌
Anna you really have a "heading" for a great life as young adventurer should ....... I was a US Navy navigator once upon a time and then became a hobbie cat recreatonal racer ....... the seas are as magical as the mountains as you now see ....... all the best Sailor Anna ! :)
Great video. You captured the essence of learning to sail. ASA does a great job. I will keep watching as I like your artistic style of videography and your plucky style. Keep moving forward.
Congratulations!! There could not be a more perfect situation than to spend half your time on a sailboat and the other half in a van! What a dream! I recently binge watched every episode of Sailing LaVagabonde and learned so much about sailing from Riley. I think you could appreciate his knowledge! Can’t wait to see what the future has in store for you!
Congrats for successful passing the course! I wish you luck for finding and getting that boat you'll fall in love to. If you focuse your thoughts on that, it will happen! CYA UnSeaCharted in next future! 🤞🏼🤞🏼
Hi Anna 🤗 What a great and new experience in your life, congratulations for your great adventure, my son and I love sailing too ⛵️❤️ , the morning of the fifth day is so wonderful and great sunrise at the last day. I wish you all the best for the next time, lovely greetings to you from Andreas and Balou 🐕 ❤️
There was never a doubt that you wouldn’t have fun and be amazed. The scenery you shared was truly breathtaking…so breathtaking that I just joined your patreon to help support your dreams. Because of you, I have a dream of semi van life and traveling across America. Thank you 😊 ❤️
Awe thank you so much Mel! ❤️ that’s very very kind of you…just know that your kind and encouraging messages are more than enough to me-I truly appreciate all the support you’ve given me week after week 🥰 cheers 🥂 to you and all of our wildest dreams ✨
First let me start out by saying CONGRATULATIONS on passing 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Take your time don't rush save up triple what it will cost to buy it because parts and labor are more expensive and you want a cushion just in case. You have all the time in the world meanwhile you can always take more classes to keep your skills sharp. I don't know anything about sailboats but I know basic boat knowledge, land and nautical maps from my time in the Marines. However did live on my uncles Chris-Craft 320 Express Cruiser for a year I was watching it for him when I was 18. I did like it a lot being on the boat and in a converted truck was the best of both worlds especially back then it was amazing and well worth it. In the future I can see you being in your van and on a boat also. Good luck 👍🏻

The Puget Sound Area is a great place to have learned and would make a great home base. I say this from 58 years of living here.😁
I just knew you were going to fall in love with sailing, Anna. I've watched enough of your videos to know that the sea was yours to conquer, and you accomplished it with ease.
Looking forward to seeing you shop for your future floating palace.
