  • No the title is not a clickbait, we did find more then 175 wheat pennies in a bag of 25$. As you may know pennies are out of circulation in Canada since 2012 and it is extremely hard to come across them at banks, they are supposed to ship them to the mint as they get them in order to get melted. If you get to know your local bank tellers, they may end up giving you a call every once in a while when they have people deposit them ! Always be kind to the bank tellers !
If you see I find coins you would like to have in your collection, I am always up for trades, send me an email at :

Cool search I got the same deal couple of years ago ang I found tons of early years wheat pennies. I'm only missing all 5 key dates. 09svdb,09s, 14d, 22 noD and 31s. Good luck!.

The US mint still makes pennies to this day. The wheatie with the extra metal is super cool, probably worth $5! Congrats on all those wheaties, also congrats on the KG-6 pennies! I haven't had any dumps since December, but on the plus side, I did find my 2nd 35% silver US war nickel this year (Which makes 4 ever)! I'm also creating some really great Canadian 50 cent coin rings, really pleased with how they've been turning out! Take care and good luck on your future hunts!

Nice congrats on the silver war nickels ! Have yet to find any, just out of curiosity how much are you selling your coin rings ? I never wear any jewelery but I could help you out and get one 🙂

Amazing hunt! You have such a rare opportunity to be hunting (mostly) Canadian pennies

I know, every time I go to the bank I ask them if they got some pennies and halfs, never lucky until yesterday ! Good thing is that I have another bag full that I am gonna cherish and make sure every single penny is looked at !

That is very lucky! I assume the bank saves all the pennies they receive until they have a full $25 to send back to the mint, or give to a lucky person.
I hunted a full box of Canadian pennies a few years ago, but I paid way over face value for it, and it wasn't nearly as interesting as your bags

Yes, over the last year I got to know the tellers at this branch pretty well, they say they are supposed to send them back to the mint as they get them melted, I think the key is to always be kind with them so when they have stuff like that they are willing to sell them instead of sending them away 🙂

What do you guys think about that 1945 Wheat cent ? Post Mint damage or mint error ?

The 1945 with extra material on reverse is mint error. The die chipped off at that portion of rim/edge. Thus, the little blob. It's considered a "CUD". Nice find! Go to cuds-on-coins.com to learn more information.
