It's not exclusive to the GTI, it's an old trick that you can use with any mk5, mk6, Passat, Jetta, Scoda, seat.... basically any car with dual zone climatronic AC.

You are wrong! It tells you 60 degree celsius and thats 140 Fahrenheit in your head up display.

I think those lights are part of the whole assembly , the MK5s came in different interior options so maybe you have the one that doesn't have those lights? Not a problem at least I assuming you have a radio.

Pero mira, le das a ajustes en el engranage de la pantalla y le das a subtitulos, le das a español y asi normalmente veoo yo los videos en ingles y otros idiomas. No son los mejores subtitulos pero hcen buena labor. Espero haberte ayudado amigo. Un saludo

I recommend installing a oil temperature gauge to check.
Im sure it MIGHT be showing but not as readable as it could be useful.

Have a mk5 gti now for 2 years and it only lit up once when a coil died, replace coil, reset and ta-duh..
he doesnt have a CAT on his exhaust thats why, its just people who dont look after their shit who have the lights
