- Welcome back to another video and we are more of the same with sheep, taking big lambs from a hogget. Up at the slats feeding cattle.
We are a suckler and sheep farm in north wicklow running 40 cows and 300 ewes with the intention of expanding in the coming years. I also do a bit of contracting and rent land for silage. We will be showing all aspects of the farm over time, the good, bad and the ugly. We think we are a little bit different than most channels. We want to show people the every day running of the farm and hope they have a interest in it.

When it's all over, maybe have the vet out to go through your systems and to discuss options. Of course this is a bad year and you can't stop all death, but seems you are having more than your share.
Yes there are loads of improvements we can make to be fair.

So sorry from the States for your luck with the lambs. Is this happening to your neightbors also or just effecting your farm? Prayers for better year.

Why are you putting twine around the head after it's outside the ewe, that's only if the head is back inside the ewe. Those were big lambs, should give the ewe a shot of metacam. Glad you pull the lambs rather than leave the ewe to struggle. Maybe get your Dad or your wife to bed down your other barn, spreading straw's not a bad job.
If there is only 1 leg coming you put the twine around the head and put it with the leg and pull together. It means both are coming with the same pressure.
