I have owned an epson eco tank printer since last 6 years. printed over 10000 prints, Its the second refill that's still running. They are truly economical. The only problem is that we have to do head clean every now and then it is not in frequent use.

Very true. I do mine once a month too or print a page every few weeks.

The 5000 series are a better buy. OK they are more costly up front, but are more solidly built, the "pro" label alluding to professional, office use. Epson have abandoned their laser printer range, in favour of these machines, that are far faster than lasers (first page). Faster processor and more memory = high throughput, full duplex, and a hefty 250-page paper tray. The paper path is a bit unusual, but when you print large documents (we routinely print 80+ pages duplex), you fast appreciate the fact that there's no flimsy output tray (i.e. less chance of losing paper!) We've got the ET-5150 which is quite the workhorse. The ET-5170 includes the fax option (but we've got e-Fax so that was unnecessary). Overall an excellent machine.

I saw a review that there is an ink sponge in the back which absorbs unused ink in the 2850 - is this the same in the 3850? Thanks.

Looks like a good printer, I never owned an Epson but I have always heard good things about the brand.

HI, why when we print a powerpoint or a simple email with an image, all images or pictures are half printed ? in an other word, is does not included the full image within the 8.5 page (reg setting)

What about the duplex printing? Is it a REAL duplex printer or do we have to manually turn the pages?

I just setup my new ET-3850 and everything works great. However, the software does not show a "print preview" option under "settings." The print preview is important because it allows you see exactly what you are about to print BEFORE you actually print it. I update software and firmware to the most recent version - but still not "print preview" option in the settings drop-down menu. How do I solve this problem? Thank you!

Hi, sorry I no longer have this to check. Pretty sure you would get away with 300gsm though on the straight paper path. Best check with Epson though, to avoid damaging the printer.

Just bought this printer. Docs print really well however I tried printing a photo on a generic photo printer but it was very washed out for some reason. I know even a low cost inkjet printer prints pretty decent on any glossy photo printer but something doesn’t look right. Any idea? Thank you.

    INK USUAGE DISAPPOINTING!
I brought this a few days ago, filled all ink to the top line as required. I have only printed approx 60 pages of black and white A4 pages, with tones of grey so I know it will use some of the coloured ink.
Is it normal that all ink levels have dropped one line below. Considering most pages we're not even full A4 content, most we're half A4 of ink?!?

For the first prints ink does drop quickly. Thanks for sharing your experience with this.
