  • Quick video about the settings inside the comtac 5's since a lot of people wanted to know what the comtac 5's have going on over the 3's. Like I said 3M/Peltor just released the 6's so I will try and get my hands on them to see if there are any noticeable worthwhile changes.

    Any idea what the "config" on/off settings does in the advanced settings?

    hello, Does use hearing protection can hearing radio communications ?
    When I active hearing protection , I can't hear radio communication ?
    it's is working good?

    Do you have to turn on the ambient sound amplification for the comms to still work? Maybe the VI will have the option if the V does not?
    I need the comms capability but do not need (or want in my situation) the amplification of ambient noise?

      The RX/TX on Comtacs is actually passive and completely independent of ambient noise. Don't even need the batteries in. Hope this helped.

    do you happen to be running DMR ham radios? I'm hearing that the 3s will not work on digital radios but will on analog radios and the 5s will work on both types of radios.

    • @RedactedGear
      @RedactedGear  Před 3 lety

      Yes I know the 3's don't play well with HAM but the 5's I'm honestly not to certain I would have to ask my buddy. A good place to be for those kind of technical questions is the TRI/TCA radio Mbitr Owners B/s/t group on facebook, some very knowledgeable folks in that group when it comes to radios!

      @@michaelwarnock3988 so the cheaper Chinese radio's in my case the Anytone 878UVR does not have certain hardware to be compatible with the III's but it worked fine analog channels. the Comtac tech told me radios like Motorola, Kenwood and after others have the correct hardware to work on digital channels.

      @@RedactedGear I ended up getting the VI'S and a motorolla XPR 7750 which works perfectly on DMR AND analog.

    Do you know what the bone conductive volume setting does?

    • @RedactedGear
      @RedactedGear  Před 2 lety

      Not 100% but probably has something to do with picking up audio through your skull to help cut down on ambient background noises when using the communications portion of the comtacs

    Got an offer for a pair but I noticed that the side cups don’t have that little dimple. Everything else looks legit, headband branding etc

    Is the radio required in order for the active hearing protection to be used?

    • @frankd5173
      @frankd5173 Před rokem +1

      No. Active hearing protection works with just the headset. Adding the radio just adds communication.

      The radio is not necessary for active hearing protection.
