Reece James and Walker are the absolute archetypes of the modern flying full back. Trent is a mould breaking superstar, a once in a generation talent.
First half of the season it was Trent, but Ben White has been the best on the whole of the season since Trent has been out for quite some time- never hurt, can sit deep and be an extra center back, can move inside and operate well in the midfield, and he’s been getting forward more, contributing some goals, assists, and lovely crosses.

Gary Neville over rated?? "He played in an era when Giggs was the best winger in the world." Yeah, he also did it in an era when Overmars, Ronaldinho, Messi, Ronaldo, Beckham, Ribery, Robben, Pires, Henry, Rivaldo and Figo were all wingers. Yes, wingers were different - they were miles fucking better.
Also, he won a treble in '99, 3 leagues in a row in the 90's, and then did that again a decade later in the mid-late 2000's.
I'm not saying he's the best RB of all time, but to call him 'over rated', and use that stupid Giggs argument against him is ridiculous.

The best RB is walker, no debate. Form is another topic. But on a one off game id trust walker to defend the like of Mbappe and vini jr over all the others
steve's list is the most accurate.
1. Walker - not even a competition. Got pace, Defensively reliable. Can put in a great cross. There should be no debate. His age is the only thing against him, but usually that affects pace, but Walker's pace is still intact. Less game time than last season primarily because of UCL fixtures and Pep trying to control his fitness level, but when he's on, he's going 100%. Only mistake I remember so far from his is that giveaway against Sheffield United earlier this season.
2. TAA - defensively upped his game this season (until Bradley came in). His shot, crossing is unmatched in EPL for me.
3. Ben White - less quality then TAA on the ball, but defensively more solid. Can go up and put in a decent cross as well. The game between 3 and 4 is big for me btw
4. Porro - This guy has so much potential, but for me, he's a defensive liability from time to time (not because of his positioning, but when he's in possession, he's unconvincing defensively. His attacking play in unbelievable.
5. Bradley - probably one of the breakout stars this season, but when he plays, he's really good. Still young, but the fact that he's on this list for this season and the fact that he's starting over TAA even when TAA is on the bench says how much Klopp trusts him. Reese James when he's fit is great, but when's the last time he's been fit. Complete a string of 10 games before we can judge how great a player actually is, but when he's fit, he's good. Just not anywhere on this list at the moment.
Regarding England, Southgate made his bed when he lied to protect Holland and threw Ben under the bus in that press conference. Shame since Ben White is not only a superb RB but also a superb CB. More proof to me that Southgate's not the right man for the job. He did great with the cultural change. The next step requires a more tactically astute manager.

In these lists it should mostly be based on the current season. That should be a no brainer.
Here's my take on the 'Greatest RB in Premier League History' debate:
Greatest traditional (442) RB: Gary Neville
Greatest RWB: Kyle Walker
And maybe (probably) we'll talk about Trent as the 'Greatest Inverted Fullback'
Dalot and AWB under appreciated
Between walker and gary its a very difficult argument, i would go with gary for the same argument that paul used to not go for him, and i could give you two reasons, one that i believe, and one that its just an argument that could be made
1. Wingers hace definitely changed from how they were in the past and ate definitely scoring more now than before, BUT lets not get it twisted, wingers now are supposed to score and the center forward to set up those goals more than in the past because, in the past wingers were solely supposed to beat their man and set up their striker for a goal, so they would mainly focus on beating their man, and todays wingers dont really do that as much, which makes me sad because i loved the flair that past wingers have, think dinho, 2007 cr7, figo, 2010/12 messi, and many others, wo it would be harder for fullbacks to be able to guard their opposed winger and gary did so very effectively
2. You can make an argument that wingers today are scoring more, not because they're better, but because todays fullbacks are worse defensively, again, if you look at the wingers that were playing in Gary's day, and look at todays wingers, while still amazing I'd still side that older wingers were better, so kyle is being compared to gary, in an era in which is easier to be a defensive fullback.
1. (Defensively) Gary rarely played well against the best wingers in the world in the 90s early 2000s, Figo, Overmars, Nedved, Pires, Stoichkov etc would rip him apart. NONE of those players EVER said Neville was difficult to play against. Whereas Neymar, Vinicius and Mbappe always say Walker is the best RB they ever played against.
2. (Ability on the ball) Roy Keane, Giggs, Scholes all take the piss out of Nevilles ability on the ball. He was a very good crosser, but under pressure he would hoof it Alot, which would piss Alot of United fans and players Alot. Walker doesn't do that.
3. Walker ALWAYS went One V One against the top wingers of the 2010s-2020 era. Neville rarely did. Beckham was almost like a RB..he would help Gary Alot when doubling up. People underrate how hard working Beckham was.
I'm a United fan, Walker was better than Neville and it wasn't close. The 3 greatest fullbacks in PL history are Ashley Cole, Dennis Irwin and Walker.
@@mrhussain9008 Don't get me wrong I'm not saying that gary is leaps and bounds better than walker, as for the points you made, first, fair enough, I shouldn't have given only the top drawer wingers, thing is the average winger of then is way better of the average winger of todays game (obviously the top wingers of today are better than a lot of bery good wingers of then, but the average was better then in terms of beating a man imo) secondly, true enough, that those guys take the pass out of him, thing is that manchester united team was one of the closest (relationship wise) that I think we've ever seen, and it's the most common thing in a friendship to take the piss out of your mates, and to that as well, that united team was full of characters who were VERY humble, particularly roy and gary, just say that they were really average when it couldn't be further from the truth, roy is always saying "who me? Nah I was nothing special, I was just very lucky to have the team of great players around me" which is just wrong because he wouldn't get in the team if he wasn't a great himself, and gary is the same.
Third its true that Beckham was always tracking back to help, but that can be said about a lot of player, in a lot of systems one of the wingers would track back to help the fullbacks
And while it's true that pretty much nobody of the top top players of then would pick gary as their toughest match-up is because there were better fullbacks in the world in comparison to gary, those were Maldini and company times, and im not discrediting today's fullbacks at all, the thing is, the position is now more about going forward and leaving more of the defensive burden on the center backs and the defensive midfielders, it's a tactics difference, while back then the fullbacks had to be pretty decent at going forward, but better at defending, so back then there were tougher match-ups to a lot of players around the world, while in todays game, at least of the top of my head, I can't remember a better fullback in the world at defending while still being very good at going forward than walker.
Again it's very close, but a lot of people (not saying you in particular) have recency bias because it's what we are currently seeing, and others go with nostalgia to say that the past is better, which is not what I'm doing, while i do believe that the game, and particularly wingers, were more entertaining then, I still really love the game that's played today, the players just don't stand out as much today because it's more systematic, so it's easier to make a case for older stars being better I feel. On the other hand the average player is better today than the average was in those times.

Mbappe/prime Neymar etc were better than players like Overmars and on Figo level (I seen both I'm 31) and they struggled against Walker, whereas Figo, Overmars and co ripped Gary Neville apart in games in the late 90s and early 2000s..if you put prime walker 2018-2023 in the early 90s he would be close to Zanetti, Thuram Whereas Neville was nowhere near them. Trust me. I'm not a modern football merchant, but I think you're a nostalgia merchant like Rory, I'm balanced, Imo Ashley Cole and Irwin are slightly better than Walker, that's it. Gary Neville DEFINITELY wasnt. And if you ask players if the last like Rivaldo and co, they will all say Walker was clear too.
Reece James, the Sturridge of RBs. Walker is amazing, but his ceiling is lower when compared to some of the others here.

Reece James is still living off his 20/21 and 21/22 seasons. Hasn't done anything note worthy in 22/23 or 23/24 when fit and has spent most of both seasons on the sidelines. People need to give him the same energy as Trent from last season. People were saying Trent was shit last season when the season before he was the best RB in the world apparently.

I think it’s his own fault for downplaying his own career every chance he gets. I think Walker is a better footballer, I’d be lying if I said he wasn’t but I watched Neville’s entire career.
