Bro exactly!! Lol the whole time I’m watching Euphoria I’m like”... Bruh this just Skins for the US…” interestingly tho there actually WAS an MTV attempt of Skins(US) back in 2011 but it was cancelled for being waaaay too much for American audiences… so it’s pretty interesting how life and the US audience has changed within 10 years to accept this kind of teen drama as a mainstream show now!

I know that MTV is also a cable channel like HBO is, but HBO has established itself with pretty much ushering in the new era of cinematic tv, like with The Sopranos, The Wire, Game of Thrones, Chernobyl, etc etc… that any drama it puts out will DEFINITELY be taken seriously. MTV has a bit of a tarnished reputation with its reality tv that no way could a drama like Skins be taken as seriously… imagine if Euphoria or Skins was airing off The CW? Or Freeform (ABC Family)?! No WAY would it be taken as seriously! Lol

Degrassi and Euphoria both deal with very dark subject matter but they do it in very different ways. I think Degrassi is a good show for teens cuz it's able to give good messages and life advice without feeling fake or pandering. Euphoria is more of an artistic project for adults

agreed, degrassi was addressing these complicated subjects with nuance in 2001, in a way that most teenagers are still able to relate. whereas euphoria is addressing the same subjects, but it lowkey feels like romanticization when they're showing these supposed high school aged kids having sex on screen, and consequences and "life lessons" only occur to stir up drama.

I grew up watching Degrassi and I'd say it's definitely targeted to teens. It deals with heavy issues too but I think Euphoria takes that to a different level. I mean, Degrassi's slogan is 'it goes there' talking about how the show handles heavy topics. But there's not nudity or anything like that in it.
Theres implied nudity in the later seasons.

Hearing the way these guys describe euphoria to me is the most surreal shit ever and then to compare it to Degrassi because my favorite movie was Dazed and Confused and it's also a movie (euphoria is a show I know) about teenagers doing crazy shit like drinking and drugs, etc so hearing about how crazy euphoria is kinda blows my mind

Tried watching Euphoria and it was just too insane. I was cool with all the drugs, sex etc but they took it way too far to be believable. I can suspend disbelief for a bit, but when dude gets rped towards the end of S01 that was it for me

I went to a school in Bible Belt country and like yeah no spaghetti straps or things above the knee. Than I moved into the city and in my elementary we had a huge ban on smarties cause kids were smoking and snorting them. Than in high school my experience was close to euphoria but definitely not as exaggerated

Holy shit thank you I haven’t seen it but just from that cover picture of the show and clips I’ve seen, and the number of overly dramatic gay homies that love the show, I knew folks had to be hyping it up waayyyy too much, cuz Zendaya wouldn’t last an hour with the folks I know who actually do drug drugs….
I watched the first season and every time she did drugs it was her just staring into space then falling asleep, with some introspective voiceover and spliced in clips of the actors with glitter on their faces in purple and blue lighting.
@@ellabiddy4741 yeah that first season was to portray what it’s like for addicts at first. Glorification, a nice fantasy away from reality, the second season really delves into what happens when an addict hits rock bottom, very well written show
@@FizzahEditz I did watch the 2 episodes released between seasons and it definitely felt like that. Rue’s episode of just the hour long conversation about addiction was a really good inclusion to show that it’s deeper than teens popping pills like they’re at a rave

Euphoria was already made in the UK, it’s called ‘Skins’. Some of the storylines are straight up stolen from the UK show… it’s mid at best, unless you’re 15.
