Ver interesting line. Most of the main groove deals with the tonic, fifth and ninth to create a really effective part. Good for practicing slides and exotic techniques like trying to do a pop while playing with a pick. The picking is slighlty muted in some parts in order to create a more suited sound. Lots of different interesting rhyhtms also. If you have any quesiton about it, let me know, i'll answer. Song is in A Minor:

I've got a question: I'm having trouble with the pop with the pick. My tone simply doesn't sound the same as yours. Is it a technique issue or does it have something to do with your mixing?
Hi, i thought its in gmajor phrygian mode (gmajor starting on a) as it has a f sharp , I'm learning it on piano with bass line on the left hand and everything else right hand and throwing in chords and broken chords. the AAAS in the prechorus are in Gmajor . because its in this mode and changes modes that's what gives it a cool flavour and those roots in the bass line govern part of where that is going. then in the end of the chorus with the F major , I see it as kind of modulation of key.
do you pop the string with your finger or somehow with the pick ? thank you
@@brunotatekawa5038 I am pretty sure that the pops recorded in the studio version of this song were recorded seperately from the main bassline and were given a small reverb boost to pop out more. If yours tend to sound drier than the recording, it's pretty normal.

As someone who can not read music, I love ALL your vids/tabs. Your choice of tunes is inspiring and very tasty. I found you by looking for La femme d’argent by Air. Your notation is superior to others I looked at. Great work! I know I shouldn’t ask, but I’m a huge fan of the bass line for “One of the Millions” by XTC (Oranges and Lemons album). I have tried for a couple years to figure it out on my own, but to no avail. Regardless, thanks for providing what you have. It will keep me busy for a while.

New to bass, love the lesson. I think it's pretty easy to learn, but there's something I don't get, I hope you'll be able to enlighten me. @0:56, the slappy sound you have, I thought it was just hitting the octave with the pick or a finger. Right. But at 0:58 you make the bass sound slappy while not going to the octave, it seems you play the same note twice but with a technique that makes it slappy... Would you mind giving me the name of that technique so I can do some research?

hey, in most of the times i had the popping sound it was actually a popping with my middle finger, but i think on that part you mentioned i also did kind of a pop with the pick. That you can do with emulating the same motion of popping but with a pick

BASS help needed!
So I’ve just started playing bass ( I’m a guitar player) and have been learning the two finger technique. I can use a pick, no problem.. but would you still use fingers on a song like this?
