  • The UK economy is no longer in recession, according to official figures.
Gross domestic product grew by a better-than-expected 0.6% between January and March - the strongest growth since the Covid lockdown.
Rishi Sunak told Sky News wages are rising, taxes are falling and people will feel "we're starting to turn a corner".
But will it be enough to salvage the prime minister's general election chances?

Taxes are down only due to the Tories borrowing like crazy. It's future generations that'll be paying for them.

Do me a favour. This is like asking a hungry man if he noticed his meagre meal had an extra pea on it.
Inflation has eaten most working class people’s income alive for years. For any meaningful ‘feel good factor’ we’d need huge levels of growth, that, crucially, made its way into ordinary people’s pockets.

We look at current government unfunded state pension and public pension liabilities and call it a ponzi scheme as it is unfunded and like to fall apart or more likely the amount promised may not be delivered.
The UK government currently has almost £5 trillion worth of pension liabilities which it will have to pay in the future (£1.2 trillion for public service pensions and £3.84 trillion in respect of the state pension). Most of these are unfunded, meaning that they are largely paid out of annual tax revenues and the bill for them is being passed on to future generations because today’s government is not putting money aside to cover them.

Ok... We are out of recession, for Sunak amd his friends there was never any recession.
It will take time for people to feel the benefit of the end of the recession created by the tories.
I just know that I struggle to keep my head above the water with my bills, even by working hard and not taking sick leaves, even if my metal health is all over the place because I'm trapped into working hard and not being able to live.
