    I can’t see Edward’s letting him stay until he’s a free agent if we can get decent cash this summer. I love Salah but he’s clearly lost a yard of pace. Non existent since the start of the year. That’s not the look of a player on 350k wages per week.

    He's an absolute legend and will be remembered as probably one of top 5 players to play for us, but I think the time is right for him to go if a £100m bid comes in. He looks off the pace since his injury, and even his confidence in front of goal seems to have disappeared. £100 million with Edwards and Hughes scouting and buying could get us 2 quality players... Mo's replacement and a No.9??
    Would be sad to see him go, but no one can play at the top level forever

  • @2ndjim
    @2ndjim Před 18 dny +2

    A lot of the problem with Salah is now we are playing the inverted right back, Salah is left on his own a lot of the time and usually against 2 defenders at a time in his career when he probably needs the most help.
    I would love to have him for another two/three years but I don't think he will want to fade away to a bit part player which is what will happen.
    He would be a king in the Saudi league and he & his agent know this.

    My heart says keep salah for as long as we can. As weve had so many good times with him. But he is aging and for me not what he was a few years ago but still a top player. Watching him over the years i think he isn't playing as well but i put a lot of it down to losing bobby firmino and obviously players like mane. I used to watch the front 3 and who would you mark as they moved off the ball so well and all could score at any point. Rhe strike force we have now isn't quite the same i feel and bow salah is easier to mark as the movement up front is different and sometimes a bit predictable hence why i feel we have so many shots with not so much end product. So with all my thoughts i would try extend mo's contract for one more year but also if offers come in for 100m plus then I'd probably accept. Hes 31 i believe and i still beleive he can go to saudi at 33 ish and still command a good price. But we have to play the game and obviously need to replace him as he can play awful but still score 2 goals to win is games. Not many players if his quality about and for cheaper money..

    This is one thing I don’t get with the club really. We say we haven’t got money for signings but then don’t cash in. For me it’s sign a new deal or we should be looking to get rid of any player with a year left.

    Releasing those stories is probably FSG wanting to measure the feeling and sentiment of the fan base towards Mo. Sell or keep, they will divide fans so probably want to get the temperature of each option. For me I’d rather we keep him and see what a new manager can do to inspire him and if he comes good again then offer him a new contract. Besides this season and just after the RM CL final defeat he’s hardly ever injured so let him have a chance to get his fitness and sharpness back. Those saying he’s too old forget that CR7 was still performing top level at 35 and Mo’s fitness is on a par with him. If he does go on a free next season then at least he may give us another exciting season. And let’s not forget, conceding goals has been a massive problem this season too so by the same logic should we also sell VVD ?

    Hi Dunc, I think the timing of this stinks of FSG using this as another opportunity to undermine Jurgen and his legacy. FSG will sell him at the right price that’s a given so why get the FSG orifice Ornstein to put this message out when all the debate is around Salah not being respectful to the manager? To me it shows a massive fall out has happened between the owners and Klopp prior to his announcement and FSG are using their media mouthpieces to undermine and damage Klopp’s reputation. Even recently that Melissa Reddy put the knife in saying how much improvement Slot has to make based on the last month’s poor form and that Klopp is not leaving a difficult pair of shoes to walk into. It’s filthy politics imho. What’s your thoughts?

  • @owensadlier2342
    @owensadlier2342 Před 18 dny +1

    What everyone seems to be forgetting is that Salah at this moment in time has no interest in the Saudi league.
    Real Madrid are all in on mbappe and Barca can’t afford me. That realistically only leaves psg and I dunno if that would appeal to him. Edward’s might have a job to get offers for him. Especially when clubs know he could be a free agent in 12 months

  • @davidcoleman757
    @davidcoleman757 Před 18 dny +1

    Mo is a true professional, but you can't beat the clock. I'm sure he's frustrated as Hell that his form has tailed off, particularly since his injury. Jurgen had every right to bench him after recent performances. You have an exhausted manager and a frustrated player and the wrong thing was said in the heat of the moment. Adults sort that out with an apology and a handshake. I'd probably take the money if the right offer came in, but I'll not lose sleep if Mo stays providing there's a new contract.

    Paul Joyce as well. I think his time is up.

  • @wmhough
    @wmhough Před 18 dny

    I’m convinced he just needs a rest. After coming back from a longish period out of the team through injury, it takes a lot of match game time to get back to full fitness and he came back at the busy end - other players have been the same coming back - a bit off the pace and lacking full fitness. I’d keep him because when he is fit he’s lethal and it would be great to see how he slots into a new setup.

  • @petermerrick9487
    @petermerrick9487 Před 18 dny +1

    Thnx Dunc - much will depend on how Arne Slot wants to use him. After Mane left Mo became the main goal scorer and unfortunately his front support (Jota & Nunez) have either been wasteful or absent thru injuries. Mo has had this increased pressure and injury himself so probably feels that everyone is seeing him as the source of our recent demise. I hope that Slot can give him some renewed hope and impetus so that he extends his contract and feels valued again. He still has a lot to offer lfc.

  • @Maroon498
    @Maroon498 Před 18 dny +1

    Love Salah and I’m glad he could be signing a new deal, but that still doesn’t change the fact that he’s on a gradual decline.
    I wouldn’t have complained if we took the decision to sell Mo this summer due to his age and his contract situation.
    We’re a very sentimental club and we do hold on to players too long.
    But it’s Mo Salah at the end of the day so who am I to argue.
    He deserves it for what he’s given us.

  • @HP-rz7ew
    @HP-rz7ew Před 18 dny +1

    Can’t see them letting him go for free. Could be another standoff this summer over a contract. Accept these extension terms or we’ll accept an offer for you. But then, he can just kick his heels in and say he’s staying he has a contract for the year. Could get nasty imo 🤷‍♂️

    The Saudi Pro League isn't as exciting and attractive as it was last year. Lots of players who went, now want to get out of it. Some already have got out of it.
    My opinion is that if Salah WANTS to go, then we sell him. No point in keeping a player who wants to leave.

  • @Nite-owl
    @Nite-owl Před 18 dny +1

    Better to sell a year early than a year late, though I agree on the thought that he's more likely to stay and see his contract out, especially since he could negotiate with someone like PSG in January. I fully believe that Mo thinks it's far too early to go to Saudi, so someone like PSG or Real Madrid are likely to be the ones that are able to cash in on a sale to the Arab league.

    I think the question is, if Saudi is prepared to pay 100 million for Salah then would the owners think that he is worth losing that to keep him at the club for another year ?? Personally the answer surely has to be no. Would be hard to replace him but the club moves on when we lose legends.

  • @MegaVinny73
    @MegaVinny73 Před 18 dny +1

    Id have taken the money that was on offer last summer and let him go then. 20-25 goals a season should be very replaceable and the money on offer was crazy. If theres 100mil+ on the table this summer, its time to say thanks and good bye.
    If the money is serously large and it could be given his mega status in Saudi, LFC just need to make sure they invest it very wisely.

    • @simonpage5870

  • @JoePruett-bv1xu
    @JoePruett-bv1xu Před 18 dny +3

    DKB as always.
    Ornstein is just doing his usual bit for the FSG saying he's not for sale to drive up the price.
    I'd be very surprised if he stays past the summer.
    However I think that puts even more pressure onto Hughes and Edwards to sign a couple of strong replacements for him. The numbers Salah's hit consistently in terms of goals and assists are second to none and there aren't many of those types of players around in world football.
    They need to get it right to give Slot a fighting chance. Replacing Klopp is a mammoth challenge, without losing the top goalscorer in his first transfer window. Particularly when you consider how others are currently performing and the overall lack of goals as of late.
    It opens Slot up to become a potential scapegoat, if it all goes wrong. Whilst FSG pocket a few quid from the sale of Salah.
    But I'm being positive, they will get it right and Slot deserves time.

  • @richt71
    @richt71 Před 18 dny +1

    Melissa Ready reckons lots of European top clubs will be making offers this summer for Mo. I don't buy it tbh. There's only Real that could pay a big fee for Mo and they seem to be putting their summer budget to signing Mbappe. Can't see Bayern wanting him. Which leaves PSG.
    As a fan I'd keep Salah but as a club we probably need to sell him now. I was gutted when we sold our best players in the 70s and 80s like Keegan, Souness, Rush and Fowler. I guess the club need to make difficult decisions.
