    Pro tip to retract idlers, jam a 4x2/small block of wood between track and sprocket to over tension the track and sqeeze the idler back, saves risk of pushing machine off blocks. Having been both, it brings joy to see an independant specialist make main dealers look 💩

    The way we do it, is to back over a 4" piece of wood or branch. It gets the back of the machine up higher so you can put a taller stack of wood under the back. Makes life way easier. Almost like the tandem axle trailer hack, that allows you to change tires with no jack required. 👍🏻👍🏻

With the track and sprocket repair, there were two things you didn't mention about the new sprockets but probably did off camera. Chris, I would personally check those sprocket bolts a few times after use. I was always taught to never put lube on lug nut bots or anything like them because they might loosen up with time. They basically count on friction to stay tight. Maybe that won't matter here, but sure worth checking in a bit to be sure. If they back out and break, it won't be fun getting the stubs out. Cheap insurance to check for tightness. Have a great one.

    • @videopyc
      @videopyc Před rokem

      Anti seize paste is what should have been used on the bolts. I am sure that Chris will once again torque the bolts of the sprocket gear plate with a calibrated torque wrench. The excavator under the control of Chris made this masterfully simple.

    • @clydeacor1911
      @clydeacor1911 Před rokem +1

      We have been using anti-seize on our big truck lug nuts for years and have never run into a problem but they're Budd style with left and right hand threads so the wheel spinning keeps them tight.
