    The radiator leaks are from the frame twisting on the older trucks. The frames weren’t upgraded enough for the newer trucks. They fixed that in 17.

      @FlyingWrenches13  Před rokem

      Thanks for adding that info! I pinned your comment so others can see. I’ve also heard that bad cab mounts are some of the cause for that radiator leak, which would make sense considering they changed body mounts in 2017. I didn’t include that info because I wasn’t 100% that is the sole cause of the leak.

    • @rockyroad9709
      @rockyroad9709 Před rokem +1

      my radiator failed under warranty. If the frame caused the leak the replacement would have leaked again in 200k miles. Frames aint that flimsy/ and the radiator sits on rubber itself. Think again!

      I have the Mishimoto primary radiator sitting in my garage waiting for me to buy the rest of the parts I need. I have 216,000 miles on my 2012 and to me it makes sense to replace the water pumps, belts, thermostat and hoses while it’s apart. I will also replace the secondary radiator and the inter cooler too. Now if you could tell me where to start looking for the wiring harness issue I’m having it would be a big help. I’ve replaced the oil temp sensor twice and the pig tail once. Still have days where it’s throwing codes for oil temp sensor and coolant being low.

      @@johnsalamone983 if you get on your back and get under front end. You will see wires running into a box. Likely will have some green on it. Corrosion issue. Not uncommon.

      Have you ever seen a small leak that just comes and goes whenever it wants to? I'm stumped on my 2013. We replaced hoses and redid the clips a couple times and the leaks comeback out of nowhere then stops for a bit then comes back. It's not the waterpump. I don't know if it's too much pressure or something else?

      I happen to be a tech for Ford, I would say in a way his knowledge does come from the school and training, but it mostly comes from his dedication and commitment to working on and repairing vehicles. I've been turning wrenches for about 12 years now (only 2 with a Ford dealer) but if you are sure this is the career you want you will gather and retain information very well and you'll learn from the good technicians around you as you progress through the years. The smartest guy I've ever met that works with me is only 30 years old, Mason reminds me of him with the abundance of knowledge he withholds!

      Please tell me about these shortcuts.

    • @johndoran3274
      @johndoran3274 Před 10 měsíci +3

      @@ZeroGoPr0 sure. You don’t have to pull the whole shroud off, just the top and leave the halo for the shroud on. Take the fan off with the hub by the bracket all in one piece, it will fit to come out between the radiator and the front of the motor all together. The hardest part is the bolts for the water pump under the pulley simply because you can’t see them from the top. Also the wire harness that runs behind the bottom of the pulley has to be partially unbolted but it can be pushed out of the way. Stick a sheet of cardboard against the inside of the radiator so you don’t bend it up because it’s delicate. If you run into a problem, just reply to this and I’ll try to help.

      I can't speak for Mason, but I'll share my opinion. I work in a shop that does all 3. I have to say the 6.0 is a nice simple engine despite what people say, yes they have some faults. But once they are fixed and fixed correctly they are very solid. I have a 2004 with a 6.0 and I had a 2014 6.7. I have given up the 6.7 for another 2005 with the 6.0.

    Had a ford tech tell me I had a coolant leak on my 21 powerstroke, after they did some warranty fixes (which they didn’t fix I had to find the collapsed brake line doing pressure checks which they couldn’t find in the 2 weeks they had it). I asked to see where it was, and they handed my keys back, 73,000 miles later no coolant loss or leak found. Completely tried to lie.
    I’ll never go back to ford I’ve found that smaller shops with good reps do better work for less $$ and don’t bs me.

    I have a coolant leak I need to trace. My reservoir is now completely empty and refilling 8 gallons of coolant just to find the leak is not ideal. Is there a cheap alternative I could fill the system with for the time being and then have a full fluid service performed? Considered using distilled water just to get the system filled so I can find the leak.
    I reinstalled my EGR, so I am assuming I might have done that part wrong and that will be my first check because that was the only component change aside from R&R of the upper and lower intake.

    Working on a 2019 f350 6.7 Powerstroke. Doing the upper oil pan. When I pulled the transmission off a lot of oil leaked out of the bell housing along with what seems to be coolant?? No big deal on the oil the upper pan was leaking into the bell housing, also doing the rear main and the rear cover but the clear fluid I'm not %100 sure I contemplated on it maybe being condensation but I don't think so, its clear ish but thicker and oily looking like antifreeze. I pressure tested both cooling systems and there are no leaks anywhere. I can send you pictures of what I mean if its possible. Would love to get some input on this because I'm stumped 😕
    I asked multiple people I know who work on 6.7's but they haven't seen this happen before. The only thing I see that could leak coolant in the bell housing is the freeze plug back there but it didn't leak any when I pressurized the cooling systems
