These refs are terrible. That Iowa vs South Carolina game is the first women's basketball game I've watched in years. 1st time ever I was looking forward to women's basketball and it's just been constant whistles.
Edit: I'm not an Iowa fan blaming the refs. I don't care who won I just wanted to see an exciting game, Not a bunch of ticky tack fouls and travel calls every other possession.
All woman crew what do you expect 😂
Stop blaming the refs. LSU was the superior team all along. That 3.5 point spread was an affront to LSU. Iowa lost to Kansas State, non-vintage UConn, Illinois, NC State, Indiana, and Maryland. LSU only lost to South Carolina and Tennessee, two powerful teams.
No type of officiating was going to make these Big Ten farmgirls beat a real team. Iowa is lucky that Stanford lost to Ole Miss because I'm pretty sure they wouldn't have even made this game had Stanford gotten to the Elite Eight.
@@RobbieStacks90 can blaim them because they have been terrible, that didn't change that LSU played better. But LSU was getting called for fouls in three first half that were also terrible. It was like the refs wanted to watch a game between both schools bench players it was ridiculous

So Iowa has even less excuse, because she missed both of them…..and they still lost.
too bad that it wasnt even about those 2 points, it was about the foul itself on Clark
The few occasions when Women’s basketball had momentum and people who previously would never watch wanted to… and this officiating happens, taking the life out of every new fan.

The LSU coach's behavior was disgraceful. She spent the whole game screaming in the referee's faces, stepping on the court and acting like a crazy person after every call that didn't go her way . She didn't get a single warning. This technical foul was undeserved and only proved that the referees were intimidated by the LSU Coach. I was so nauseated by it I turned the game off.

If you get offended by that ball roll and act on those feelings, then you shouldn't be a ref.

That is a technical foul. You either hand the ball to an official, put it down, or leave it alone. She doesn't get to toss the ball in the stands because she doesn't like a call. It was a big game, and players have to keep their emotions in check.

LSU shot lights out the whole game and played above their normal level. That doesn't mean the game wasnt altered by awful officiating.
they altered the best player in the country, who was on pace to shoot even better than LSU if not having to sit down multiple times due to fouls

Outside of the traveling calls the referees were terrible
To me, the traveling calls were the most questionable.
the LACK of travelling calls most of the game
The worst part of the technical on Clark is that it wasn't even properly used.
The rule Lisa Jones cited with the pool reporter afterwards says "Rule 10, Section 12, Article 3K. The definition of the delay can be found in Rule 4, Section 9, Article 1F, by failing to and it reads, attempting to gain an advantage by interfering with the ball after a goal, or by failing to immediately pass the ball to the nearest official after the whistle is blown." (This was tweeted out by a ton of media on site, I'm only not sharing link cause the comment will be hidden)
1. There was no advantage to be gained since it was a dead ball. 2. If you're going to use "failing to immediately pass the ball to the nearest official after the whistle is blown" then there have been at least a dozen of missed technical foul calls in every single basketball game.
Furthermore, even if we all somehow agreed it was correct to call a technical foul there, it's a class B technical, which do NOT count toward personal fouls. Only class A technicals do. Also, class B technicals are only 1 free throw for the other team. LSU got 2 free throws for that technical. So either way, Clark should have still had 3 personal fouls and LSU got an extra foul shot.
Look, LSU 100% deserved to win. Their bench with their 3 pointers in the 2nd quarter was the difference. Also, the refs were absolutely atrocious both ways.
That said, that technical foul call and then incorrectly using the rule to give Clark her 4th personal is either A) Extremely fishy and/or B) Those refs should be fired because NONE of those 3 stepped in and corrected it.
This group of refs were clearly in over their heads
yup, it was pretty obvious from the start

What turned me off were Angel Reese’s childish antics at the end; as far as I could tell, she was the only person from her program acting in that embarrassing way. It’s clear from her interviews over the past couple of days that she has an “I’m just as good as Caitlin Clark” chip on her shoulder and her behavior today just reinforced that.

Usually lean way out there to defend refs. agree, it is absolutely insane they call this, which if you want to go by the book, could be called a technical, but then don't call a technical on LSU coach for being on the court HALF THE GAME, and bumping into the officials, and also Reese taunting at the end of the game, and then followed Clark around. It is not trash talking at that point, the game was decided, and you can't equate the two, not even close. It may not have changed the outcome of the game, but this win for LSU will be always clouded by, well the refs were terrible, you might not have won if certain things were called differently, and that is unfortunate.

Did they have to make all of the calls they did no they didn’t but the game was called both ways now take your time and explain to me how it wasn’t because I watch Iowa get the exact same calls that lsu did besides the technical on CC
@@calinlabbe3102 it was a poorly called game by the refs, very inconsistent and not even close to the way the semifinals were called. Tech was ridiculous, not calling a taunting tech at the end was ridiculous, probably should have called one on the lsu coach for being one the floor more than her players were.. would agree with you though, it wasn’t the deciding factor in the game. LSU came out to win the game and Iowa failed by trying to use the same plan they had for SC.
@@calinlabbe3102 Caitlin Clark didn’t foul out lol. That technical foul was one of the worst I’ve ever seen!! That technical took the momentum away from Iowa because not only did it put Clark on the bench but altered the way she played the rest of the game.
I'm on lsu's side but come on ref. The girls want to beat the best, not have you beat them.
At least Catlin didn't punch anyone in the face after the game...
Kim Mulkey could’ve punched Caitlin in the face and the refs would’ve charged Caitlin with the foul.
Art. 5.
A team shall not delay the game, when the game clock is not running
by:
a. Consuming a full minute by not being ready when it is time to start
either half or any extra period.
b. After a team warning has been issued, delaying the game by
preventing the ball from being promptly put in play, such as delaying the administration of a throw-in or free throw by engaging in a team
huddle any place on the playing court.
c. After a team warning has been issued, failure to have the court ready
for play after the final horn to end any timeout"
absolutely a tech, and I'm a big CC fan. If she can't see that, she's more entitled than I thought. Own up.
I have never seen a game officiated so poorly in my life. I was rooting for LSU (who played amazing) but it just left me thinking the refs had an agenda.
Sulky Mulkey walked onto the court several times before and after this. Clark was given a technical with EASE.
I noticed she was out on the court numerous times while the ball was on her end of the court. It was the most noticable I've ever seen without a technical
And all tournament and not one ref Td her up!!!
@@erinlee7216 ELITE ENTITLEMENT
You lost cry about it
She bricked the freak out them free throws though
Yeah she did and she got four when she was supposed to get three and she walked away from the ball after her second shoot which also should of been a tech.
PURPOSELY.... no one wants a win off of tech free shots!!
Refs ruined the first half with their constant whistles. Gave all the momentum to LSU
Sure did. They fouled LSUs top players to force Carson on the floor so she could drop dimes on Iowa.
One of worst reffed games I’ve ever seen … and I watch a lot of ball. NCAA needs to have their best refs out there. These 3 were all over the place: calling ticky tack then missing obvious fouls; missing obvious walks and then calling others; calling a BS tech. What a disgrace, as it made the game unwatchable. And Clark had to play the entire second half passively because another phantom call was in the way otherwise.
Never watched a female collegiate game until today and I can assure there was no Disparity in fouls. The tech called on Caitlin is the same call they'd make on ANYONE(including professionals)!!! You just didn't like it because it was against your favorite player or team. Had Caitlin not forcefully thrown the ball on a dead possession the tech wouldn't have been called, you don't have to know how to play or understand the game of basketball to see why the tech was called in the first place. Congratulations to the better team tonight 💜💛💜💛
Stop Crying 🤧 Because Clark got beat DOWN
@@Mr921kevin The "crying" claim is so lame. Yeah, 30 points despite being in foul trouble and unable to play her game. "Beat down." Got it.
@@amandapage464 So you're an expert because you've never watched a female collegiate game? Got it. Announcers themselves said it was a horrible call. Refs said it was a delay of game violation but it was a dead ball. Sorry, you're wrong.
Referees need to pay more for bad calls. They can pretty much do anything they want without much blowback. No accountability whatsoever.
Between the four points and the four fouls, it cut a great game short. They need to get lessons from the NFL on how to fix games to make them closer and more exciting, not take the air out of them. Not sure Iowa was coming back in this game but this ensured we didn’t find out…
I was rooting for LSU being that I’m a big fan of the SEC and never liked the Big 10..but we all need to be honest that this wasn’t right at all..if there are LSU fans out there that feel good about this win well that’s your business and right..but these refs were horrifying
Good thing your not really a fan because if you where you'd know how much lsu had to better themselves for this game. They improved they're 3pt and field goal percentage significantly(tonight's game is the best they shot all season), they defense also improved from regular season. True LSU fans would recognize how much they had to level up in order to face off against one of the best teams in the country. There were horrible fouls called on both sides but what distinguish winners from losers is figuring out how to adapt and bring home a championship regardless. Congratulations to LSU they definitely earned it 💜💛💜💛
I like honest people. I really was impressed by alot of what I saw from LSU. That " blonde" player was so hot. Loved their inside passing too. I watched because of Clarks game against Carolina though. It was amazing.
Both teams had terrible calls by the refs
that was right call
What year did those refs attend LSU?
Idk - you shouldn't be allowed to just throw the ball when a foul is called against your team.
Guess the black ref didn't want the mostly white team to beat the mostly black team 🤷
You can't do that. Yes, it was a technical.
That never gets called in men’s b-ball.
DISASTROUS OFFICIATING - TOTALLY TOOK THE GAME OUT OF THE PLAYER'S HANDS. PUT BOTH IOWA BIG GIRLS ON THE BENCH IN THE FIRST QUARTER. HARASSED CAITLIN CLARK -
Wow, Angel's really good at the free throw line.
She literally has the IQ of an Omelette and the grade point average of a potato.
Reese and coach committed several tech fouls but never called
I can’t understand how this is a technical but the taunting at the end by Reese isn’t? LSU deserved the win and it’s a shame for both teams it turned into a ref show
Ref should be embarrassed by that call.
And she missed both free throws. Poetic justice. Karma at it's best.
And still won
NCAA basketball tournaments (both) can Not be taken seriously until officiating problems are openly addressed, examined and (at least) attempted improvement. I'm not sure how actual Merit gets put aside in selecting officials for biggest game of the year - but here we are
I'd been hearing about how good these games have been - that was actually unwatchable, unaesthetic basketball.
Equal Opportunity
Watch the Iowa, South Carolina game from the previous day
the refs destroyed this important game, with millions of fresh eyes watching a womans basketball game, they called ticky tack fouls on both teams and ruined the chance for America to watch the best female basketball players play for a championship
Basketball aside, did anyone else notice that Chick Fil A increased the price of their chicken sandwiches by 39 cents??
what?😮
I think that should be considered a delay of game, which is a warrantable offense. The warning should be entered into the score book and in any subsequent delay of games would be a technical
This was when Iowa came within 7.....gotta stop the train somehow
If Iowa was a train LSU must have been a rocket.

Ball don't lie on those free throws for the tech
LSU didn’t need them
@@jasonmullins4686 You sure dont when the refs are on your side.
So true
She clearly threw it away from the refs. You want them to go run after the ball every time a player does this? If you watch basketball they call techs on things like this. Russell Westbrook threw the ball to a ref after a play and because the ref didn't see it and it hit him in the head he got a tech and it clearly was an accident. These things happen get over it.
@@jp5685 in a single eliminations final, in the final two minutes? Ref, the game ain't about you
Such BS. That changed the whole game. Gave CC her 4th and had to play careful the rest of the game. Not to mention the FOUR free throws AND possession afterwards. Horrible horrible call especially in that spot of a championship game. Shameful.
The tech on Caitlin Clark (the best women's college basketball player) and iowas three best players had 4 fouls what are you talking about did you even watch the game. Not to mention that the LSU coach was trying to win her 4th championship with a new team
And people say the NFL scripted
For the people who don't know, you're supposed to hand the ball to the refs. I don't get the fake outrage when this has been a rule since forever. Great team win LSU.
That’s fair but typically that’s a delay of game warning
@@nicocolorado192 also, no one actually believes this would have been called in the men's game.
