Redfish are CRUSHING This Weird Bait!

  • Many anglers spend hours trying to find just the right bait to "match the hatch." In basic terms, the concept means fishing a lure that most closely approximates what the fish are feeding on that day.
    In fairness, absolutely nothing in the marshes of South Louisiana looks anything like a FishLab Flutter Nymph, but the bait just works, particularly this time of year when every game fish is looking for smaller baits that have some action but not as much as a circus monkey juggling balls while spinning plates.
    This week, I rigged the bait on a 1/4-ounce Deathgrip Jighead, and found a school of redfish that just wouldn't leave it alone.

    I just wanted to give a shout to let viewers know Marsh Man is the same guy on land as on the water. My wife and I were at Texas Roadhouse having dinner and I was watching a Marsh MAN video at the table I look up and he and his wife sat at the table behind us. I told my wife that’s him and I kept moving in my seat to see if it was him. I heard the voice told my wife that’s him. Finally I disturbed his meal with his friends and asked if it was him he said yes and shook my hand. So I like what you see is what you get with him. Not to mention he’s a great outdoorsman. Iam a retired vet and Iam living my retirement thru him. Keep fishing!!
    Keith

    Mr. Masson,
    I subscribed to your channel after watching you on Outside the Levees. Mr. Serigné said that you do a good job of explaining the finer points of how to actually catch what you are targeting. He was correct. I am very new to this style of fishing. ( I had to look up what a bayou is ) 😂 I intend to move to the Gulf in a few years and I really appreciate your content. It’s giving me an unfair advantage to my upcoming learning curve.
    Thank you sir,
    Sam

    Beautiful reds! Sad to say it but, I believe that sight fishing is chasing them out of the marshes. I've run into the same issue in North Florida, where it has become the rave. We need to have a short moratorium on sight fishing. If you hunt the same piece of ground every day, the game stays away.

  • @dixie3087

    Todd, when you’re tagging fish like that, how are you recording your tags? I’ve been tagging, but it takes so long to measure, and record each fish. I have been recording mine by taking a photo of the tag number, then length of fish. Photo records time and location, then at the end of the day, I report them all at once. Sometimes if the bite is hot I’ll throw them in the livewell for a few minutes and then do a few at a time. Interested in hearing your process

    • @MarshManMasson
      @MarshManMasson  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Because my cameras are always rolling, I just say the length of the fish and the tag number, and then write it down when I'm scrubbing the footage. An alternative is to use the voice memo app on your phone.

    Hey Capt! Is your next boat going to be at Bay Boat or will you stick with a bass boat?

    • @MarshManMasson
      @MarshManMasson  Před 6 měsíci

      100% stick with a bass boat. The layout is just so much more user friendly. Everything is stored away, and there's endless deck space.

      @@MarshManMasson I'm sure you have to keep it washed and rinsed off from the saltwater.. Do you have issues with corrosion?
