Unfortunately not. I've seen them live before the pandemic. They played songs from the jester race and even Stand Ablaze from Subterranean. People didn't know what songs these were. The fans changed as much as in flames has changed. What remains is a memory

Anders had some of the greatest showmanship in all of metal. The energy that dude had in the late 90s and early 00s.

I was at that show! November 16th 1999, Moonspell opened for the that night I still have the ticket. I asked Peter Iwers a pick and got one.
First In Flames show I've been! Can even see my face upfront in the video! One of the best show I've ever attended! Best In Flames era!

Best In Flames era, pure gold...
These old recordings of them in the colony/clayman era are literally national treasures as far as I'm concerned. I only got to see them twice with the "classic" lineup of Jesper, Bjorn, Anders, Peter and Daniel. Both times were in the Come Clarity tour era in the USA, because I had only really discovered them around 2004-2005. They played a lot of old songs though(including my favorite live song, Colony), plus the regulars like Trigger, Cloud Connected, etc. Without a doubt, the best metal shows I've ever been to in terms of sound, atmosphere, and overall performance. They played every song perfectly clean, no mistakes, no sloppiness, their guitar tone was a massive fucking wall of sound that literally made your entire body vibrate and rumble. Every note was clear, Anders vocals were amazing(this was still before he started replacing a lot of his screams with cleans, he screamed 99.9% of the time when I saw them), I mean it was just a massive spectacle that you can only really appreciate if you've ever gone to one of their shows from that era, when Jesper was still in the band.
Some of the best nights of my entire life and I credit this band with getting me through a lot of rough patches, and inspiring me to pick up a guitar. I don't listen to much of their newer stuff after A Sense of Purpose, but I still respect the hell out of them. No other band has this sound and sense of melody as these older albums. It's just wholly unique and instantly recognizable to me.
I've listened to death metal for a very long time and, for me, Colony is the best song to bang my head to. It's in my top 5 melodeath songs of all time and it's so fucking delicious live
When Jesper left the band, it was clear that when Siren Charms came out that he was the heart of the In Flames sound. They still make pretty good music (Siren Charms excluded, I disliked it) but it's not quite the same anymore. Lucky you got to see them with a more regular line up.

For me their last 'fantastic' album is Sounds of a Playground Fading. Everything up untill that album was fantastic. Siren Charms is pretty decent too. I dont care too much about Battles and I the Mask. Foregone is about on par with Siren Charms for me.
@@boris29122000 I feel like they experimented more before Siren Charms.. I agree with that statement, Sounds of a Playground fading was their last great album. I listened to Foregone and I wasn't very impressed but it is what it is.
Absolutely legendary. Saw them for the first time in 2000 and it was one of the best iterations of this band. I wonder how they feel about what they're doing nowadays when they see how amazing they used to be. Thanks for the memories.

Anders has said he's proud about the albums he was a part of back then, and he still loves them, but he doesn't consider In Flames that band anymore, it evolved and some people are gonna love it and others are gonna hate it and they don't care as they make it for themselves.
I think if I could go back in time to any point in history it would be this era of in flames… I still go berserk whenever they break out the oldies live though :,)

I went to the New York show for this tour. I’ll never see anything like it again. Perfect show and will always be the best one I’ve ever seen from them. These were savage musicians that just went for it.

I can't think of many metal guitar duos as complimentary and incredible as Jesper and Bjorn. Jesper is the reason I wanted to be a rhythm guitar player.

My jaw literally dropped when I heard that piano intro on instagram during their Dalhalla Brinner concert in 2022. I thought they forgot about Subterranean. Stand Ablaze is a strong contender for my favourite In Flames track
This is a fuckin KILLER early show! I thought id see bjorn on drums!! Ive always loved In Flames so much!! They renewed my faith in metal when i 1st heard them around early 2000s and its hard to explain but they resolved some melody in my head that i had been trying to find for YEARS!! I will ALWAYS love them for that FOREVER despite their last few discs without Jesper! I know for a fact he was a HUGE part of their alchemy!! Im just an idiot tho but like i said, long live IN FLAMES!!

Zombie inc is on their 4th album. Albums 2-5 is their peak, jester race/whoracle/colony/clayman

Amazing, i wish i could have seen this at this time. I got into In Flames when i was about 11 with Come Clarity in 2006 but nothing they've ever done comes close too Jester Race, Whoracle, Colony and Clayman. I wish they just started a new band instead tarnishing their old albums with their newer shit. Don't get me wrong, I actually don't mind Come Clarity, STYE, ASOP and RTR although they still don't come even close to their older output but anything from the 2010's has been pure shit and it hurts how bland they've become with Siren Charms, Sounds of a Playground and especially Battles.
While I appreciate all their discography and don't really think any of it's shit, I wish I could have seen them from this tour/era. Also, I, The Mask is honestly pretty good in my opinion.
Agreed even the mid 2000s albums were not as great as the very early stuff but alot more tolerable than 2014 onwards!
