    I have a door with a euro lock with not other locks, no deadlocks. I was looking for the most pick proof lock thinking picking would be the most likely way in. Now I learnt about snapping dear god.

    What a load of nonsense. You are snapping the lock with a part of it that is deep inside the door, that's the whole point of the sacrificial part, if they do bend the handle up to expose maybe 10-15mm or less of the end of the cylinder, unless they dig out another 30mm or more of the door, they won't be able to do what you just did.

    Holding in a vice is not the same as in the door, so the demo was pretty useless. The remainder of the lock wouldn't be accessible to grips inside the door

      This is a BS 1 star lock vs Ultion demo video... both in a door.
      czcams.com/video/j6H1v1dFPMI/video.html
      I come across these types of locks that have been snapped on a regular basis when doing burglary repairs... worse still, many of the victims bought these locks believing they would prevent such an attack.
      West Yorkshire police advise minimum BS 3 star with good reason.

      If your asking, would a two star handle & 1 star lock combined keep an intruder out long enough to pass a 3 star test, then yes.
      If you are asking for my preference, then I always advise a 3 star cylinder.

    Ok a good demonstration of why you shouldn't buy 'cheap' anti-snap locks, but you didn't go on to explain why BS 3* or Diamond Standard locks are better. Are they more resistant to snapping? Do they use other techniques/mechanisms to foil intruders once snapped? By how much longer would they typically delay a thief vs. the cheap locks?

      Paul Woodburn all of the locks you’re mention are diamond grade ( assuming you were referring to Avocet ABS or ABS Attack)
      We supply & fit the Ultion & the ABS Attack. I prefer that the key code is on the key of these locks rather than a key card like the others. Ultion also has the £1000 manufacturers guarantee.

      @@Helplocks can you explain why do you prefer key code printed on the actual key? Isn't there a risk associated with these that anyone who has this key can order a copy very easy? Like painters, child minders, contractors etc?

    • @Helplocks
      @Helplocks  Před 4 lety +2

      Mickey Rourke when you’re Lock is fitted, you register the lock code to activate key control. Thus means you will be notified when a key is ordered and asked to authorise it’s cutting. Keys won’t be cut without your knowledge & authorisation.
      This is better than key card as these so often get lost. With codes on the key, so long as at least one person has a key, you can get new keys cut.

    Sorry but this video is a sham to get you to spend money. In the test he put the grips all the way over the sacrificial line which would be impossible, but even with doing that the lock still performed perfectly snapping at that point. The second part where he grabs what’s left to snap the lock is impossible to do in a door. The 1st locks will protect you against snapping and lock picking never happen in a burglary attempt as far as I have soon in my 10 years as a locksmith.

    • @Helplocks
      @Helplocks  Před 2 lety

      1 star locks are NOT tested for snapping!
      They are only tested for bumping, drilling & picking. Many 1 star so called sacrificial lines fail & even if they don’t, they are far easier to bypass than a diamond grade lock or 3 star.

    • @GxAxV
      @GxAxV Před 2 lety

      @@Helplocks bypass would only be true on a thumb turn and even then there are plenty 1* locks that are not possible to bypass or bump. My main point was that the demo you did to show how they fail is very misleading.

    • @Helplocks
      @Helplocks  Před 2 lety +1

      @@GxAxV it’s not misleading, they are not tested for snapping! You can not sell a 1 star as a solution for snapping…. Therefore, your opening comment that “this video is a sham to get you to spend more money” was way off. You also said “the 1st locks will protect you against snapping” simply not true! There are a couple that are decent like the Yale superior & Malenco Magnum but other than that, I would steer well clear of 1 star for a solution for snapping.
      The only miss leading thing in the video is a 1 star lock branding itself as “anti-snap” because it has a sacrificial line that has not been proven to prevent entry for a two minute attack…

    • @GxAxV
      @GxAxV Před 2 lety

      @@Helplocks in your video even with the handicap you gave yourself trying to grip the cylinder past the sacrificial line (which would be impossible in a door) the locks still performed perfectly as advertised. They are indeed anti snap just as much as they are anti pick tested or not is irrelevant. If I showed any locksmith this video they would have the same opinion as me and that shows in the comments too. What’s worse is the promotion of ultion cylinders which have a reputation of failing with normal use because of the anti snap measures they use. I have a whole album full of failed ultion see it old style or WXM they are the same problems.

    • @Helplocks
      @Helplocks  Před 4 lety

      There is no evidence to support the idea that burglars pick locks.
      Snapping is by far the most common method, even when the door is burned it is a snap attack.

      @@Helplocks it's shocking how easy it is for professionals to pick thick locks. I've seen youtube videos of people getting in within 10 mins. Loxkpickinglawyer has opened these "high security" euro cylinders in 30 seconds. Euro locks are a standard now, they didn't expect people to just snap locks open when they designed it. I'm thinking of changed the door over to a regular door so I can install multiple locks for extra security. I want a deadlock in the door.
