heard this song in cleveland during the citrus summer tour. i went with my internet best friend that i only get to see once a year cause she lives too far away. that night was so so special. genuinely one of the best things that has ever happened to me. i cried during most of it, and i am sobbing now. i miss her and i miss that night. i hold this song so so close to me. thank you robbie. thank you.

WolfDancer Well, one can interpretate what a song makes them feel. It’s art, and it can have the meaning you give it. For the artist it can mean something, but one as an audience can feel in it something different. That’s the beauty of music and other arts in general… or at least my interpretation of beauty.
@@bluflavouredpudding oh yeah, definitely! that's what makes music therapy for some people, you can take a song about a breakup and apply it to an entirely different issue in your life and it can still help you lots. i think robbie does that quite often for people due to how vague his lyrics are, and that's one of the things that makes it great. I believe he's said before that he doesn't like to tell the meanings of all his songs so that we as the audience can interpret it ourselves.

I analyzed the lyrics to this and now it makes me sad. I’ll share it here even though no one will see it lol: ok so (FROM HOW I READ IT) it is about being in a relationship with someone really sweet, but you don’t love them like they love you. For example “she said she’s here if I ever need someone to talk to” robin proceeds to say that all he wants to talk about is that individual. When you say you’re here for somebody it’s mostly meant to like rant about your problems and stuff yk, so it might mean that he is feeling guilty or nervous to leave this person as it would break their heart, since he wants to talk about this person but can’t do it directly. You see this pattern at every verse, where it starts off positive but then it ends with him feeling not quite right. “She says that I’ll do great that’s not what’s scaring me” could also mean his fear of hurting or leaving that person. It ends off with “with one regretful smile, happy Valentine’s Day, I just stand and stare.” Which is the most obvious one to me, since he chose the word regretful other than any other word. That could mean that the person smiling could actually tell that he wasn’t in love, but didn’t wanna leave. Robin can’t bare to answer. It follows with “feel my body falling away” which could mean disassociation, or extreme guilt. I recently went through this, except I was the person who was in love. This song always makes me cry, thinking about that one other person, both because how hard it must’ve been to hurt me, and also because I know exactly how much it hurt. Beautiful song.

In the superficial world we live in, love has became so rare. People don't date because they genuinely like each other, but because they like the idea of being together with someone or for their own emotional cravings, which isn't okay. Valentine's day is the international day of love. We should be grateful and cherish both romance, but friendship and family too. So besides buying your s/o flowers and sweets, go out with your friends, visit your grandparents or watch a movie with your family and be thankful for everyone that is there for you. Happy Valentine's day :)
While I see where you're coming from, what you say is a little contradictory. If the world we live in was as a whole superficial, love wouldn't be rare it would be nonexistent which is not true whatsoever. And you're belief as to why people date depends entirely on the person, I see love everywhere in the people I'm surrounded by. Whether it's out of love for their SOs, their families, or their friends, the people I surround myself with bring their love, care, and happiness to the table simply because it's ingrained in who they are and that they feel that the people they give it to, deserve it. Sure there are a lot of people out there who are superficial and hopefully someday that changes, but it's been that way for a long time. There has always been those committed to acts of love and those who take it for granted. Love has never been nor ever will be a perfect sentiment, and no matter what time period you find yourself in it always has it's problems. While I appreciate what Valentine's Day stands for, I personally believe that it's something that should be celebrated everyday. Love the people you love the most that you can everyday, rather than only give them the most one day a year. Sorry for the rant, while you may not agree with the things I said, I still hope you had a lovely Valentine's Day and continue to keep striving for a better world. Have a good one! Sincerely, Noah.
